Harper Working on Scrapping the Gun Registry!
ironstone replied to wulf42's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
"Comparing gang violence to the gun registry is like comparing apples and oranges." I'm still shaking my head at that one.So are you saying the gangs were never the intended target of the gun registry? You're a typical lefty, you feel it's right to go after the typical mainstream gun owner but you choose to ignore the one's causing the most trouble, the gangs.By all means,we must encourage responsible use of firearms. But why leave the gangs relatively untouched? I think one reason for the gun registry was to have yet another source of revenue for the government.Eventually, there would have been an annual fee which would continue to rise. -
How will Obama handle war between Israel and Iran?
ironstone replied to wulf42's topic in The Rest of the World
Now you have crossed the line! .Badmouthing my Fox News channel. It's unlikely you have ever watched either of the above mentioned programs or you wouldn't be making such foolish statements. You probably don't like Fox precisely because they are fair and balanced in their coverage of the news. The words "fair"and "balanced"make left wingers like yourself very uncomfortable because they are so diametrically opposed to socialist ideology. Why does reason frighten you so much?Stop lashing out,if someone does not agree with you it's not the end of the bloody world. Gotta go now,Bill comes on at 8 and I must get prepared with a cold beer and snacks. -
This is downright silly.Israel's new government extremist!!?I don't think you would know an extremist government even if they started lobbing rockets in the general direction of your home.Does that sound like anyone we know?
-
I'm not trying to be facetious, but when the above mentioned left wing groups do try to bring attention to a genocide like in the Sudan, what course of action do they recommend,if any?Peacekeeping forces are not always effective(Rwanda comes to mind) and left wingers are usually violently opposed to military action of any kind.I wonder if Muslim leaders have respect for anything other than the threat of real military action to keep them in line.

The U.S. media did the right thing by not shelling out big bucks for this tape.Ashley Biden must be presumed innocent until proven guilty. This is a Biden family matter after all,not something for us to joke about. Having said that, the media did the right thing for the wrong reason, namely,Ashley Biden is the daughter of Joe Biden.Yes, Vice President Joe Biden, next in line to the world's most popular celebrity and darling of the left,Barrack Obama. A pity the media didn't exercise the same restraint with Sarah Palin's family.Oh now I remember, she's considered right wing and therefore a legitimate target. Can you spell M-E-D-I-A B-I-A-S?

NDP upset with Chinese made Ontario flags
ironstone replied to madmax's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
If we don't buy flag from a Canadian company and their business suffers,do we have to bail them out too? Much ado about nothing this flag flap. -
Randy Hillier has announced he will run for the leadership of the Ontario PC Party this week. His chances of winning are best described as less-than-remote.However,one thing he said he would do if he had the power is putting an end to the Ontario Human Rights Commission. GO RANDY GO!

Check out this site folks. What do you think?Way over the top may be an understatement. http://www.palestine-info.co.uk/en/

Geez,I'm still waiting for you to produce some figures to back up your claims.I guess you don't believe the Palestinians are one of the biggest(2nd biggest)recipients of foreign aid. Israel no doubt uses some of the aid money to buy arms, and they also export arms as well, being a country with a top notch reputation in the arms industry. I'm tired of this pointless jousting for now and I'm going to watch The O'Reilly Factor on Fox(CAUTION!YOU ARE ABOUT TO ENTER THE NO SPIN ZONE!) If you decide to put down some ACTUAL NUMBERS let me know.
-
You write a lot but you don't say much.Perhaps my eyesight is failing but nowhere in your post do I see an actual dollar figure for Palestinian aid. Entity Aid per capita (US$) Republic of Congo 362 West Bank and Gaza 304 Timor-Leste 189 Nicaragua 144 Serbia and Montenegro 140 Jordan 115 Macedonia 113 Source: Calculations based on data from World Bank Development Indicators Data Base, 2005 On December 17, 2007, eighty-seven countries and international organizations met in Paris and pledged to provide $7.4 billion over three years to the Palestinian Authority[1] (PA), an amount far in excess of any previous level of U.S. or European aid to the Palestinians. http://www.ask.com/bar?q=annual+Palestinin...tinian-violence Is this what you call a fraction?
-
By all means, enlighten us.What exactly is the "fraction" of $3billion dollars that the Palestinians recieve? http://www.ask.com/bar?q=annual+Palestinin...d%3DACOS-635PFR This link suggests it's more than "fraction".And please take note of the number of countries pledging aid.

No I haven't seen these t-shirts myself. They are done in very poor taste no doubt. But offensive t-shirts pale in comparison to the regular "Death to(insert name of enemy here)"marches that are deeply ingrained in Middle East culture. There is always self criticism and second guessing on the Israeli side. Can you honestly admit that most Palestinians have similar feelings?Has there been any significant outrage, any outrage, among Palestinians for the continued rocket attacks? The answer is no.
-
Today's world can be a terrible place to be a part of sometimes.Often, leaders in the free world are forced to make difficult decisions which have far reaching consequences. You describe some of Israel's actions as "evil".I think a more honest description would be "necessary evil".It's sad that innocents die in the course of action but there is often no alternative.Hamas leaders must shoulder the blame because of their longstanding practice of hiding behind civilians, launching rockets from schools hospitals and the like.
-
Israelis choose their leaders via the ballot box only.Palestinians also have "elections" but heavily influenced by the mighty AK-47.
-
No argument there, most governments in the Middle East are thoroughly corrupt and dictatorial, some being much worse than others.Which is one big reason why I support the ONLY democratic country in the region....Israel. And by the way,it's not only the "greedy West" profiting from arms sales.Russia,Iran,North Korea have a hand in it too.Did you know that?
-
I forgot to ask if you ever watch the evening news.Did you ever see the regular protest marches in the Middle East(I don't mean Israel!)and listened to them chanting "Death to Bush/America/Israel/Blair etc etc"?An offensive t-shirt kind of pales in comparison don't you think? What colour is the sky in their world?
-
Have you forgotten the scenes of jubilation throughout much of the Muslim world after the 9/11 attacks? They were as happy as pigs in s**t.
-
Israel and the Palestinians both get billions in aid.One side chooses to use the money wisely, the other chooses to spend it on weapons, inciting hate and keeping a woefully corrupt government in place.Palestine getting "50 dollars in aid"?!!The money is going somewhere.Remember Yassir Arafat stole huge amounts from his own people, the same goes on today no doubt.Your military analogy is way off too by the way.

This Needs To Be Said To Obama!

Did you know that George W.Bush was quite popular in countries that were once under control of the former Soviet Union....yes,those that suffered under forced obedience. -

UN - Israel’s Unlawful Use of White Phosphorus in Gaza
ironstone replied to dub's topic in The Rest of the World
There is debate and soul searching from within Israel about alleged war crimes and the number of Palestinian casualties.Has there been any similar reaction among Palestinians regarding the consequences of their own actions toward Israelis?I have seen nothing in the papers I read concerning this.Does this show just how much of a gulf there is between Israelis and Palestinians? This speaks volumes about attitudes on both sides. To be fair, any Palestinian that supports non-violence will likely meet his end from AK-47,so perhaps it's best to keep quiet. -
This article certainly calls into question the validity of these so called "war crimes admissions".Not to mention the New York Times is a pretty left wing paper which one would assume means they are more likely to be sympathetic to Hamas led Palestinians than Israel.

New Scathing Ad From The NRSC
ironstone replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
What absolute nonsense! You completely missed my point. -
Since I'm not a Socialist(I work for a living and am capable of independant thought)I always look at both sides of the argument and form an opinion based on reason and evidence. In this never ending Middle East mess between the Israelis and the surrounding hostile countries,it's clear which side has continually made the most effort to achieve peace. One country stands out among the lot of them. Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but one country is head and shoulders above the rest.Ahead in education, health care, human rights(actually placing value on human life, imagine that),and light years ahead in terms of being truly DEMOCRATIC!In time of war, terrible things are done, usually by both sides.Action and reaction.I would never say the IDF are comprised only of angels, but on the whole they have acquitted themselves very well in action. How often during war does an army give advance warning to civilians to get out harms way?The IDF goes to great lengths to avoid casualties to civilians. Can anyone honestly say that Hamas does the same? The answer is no,in fact Hamas specifically targets civilians. They are even likely to be jubilant about Palestinian losses to sway public opinion to their side. This could boil down to simply choosing the lesser of two evils, which side consistently makes the most effort to do the honorable thing? The Israelis, hands down. Go ahead, start the insults....
