  1. Which is the fundamental point anyone was making. Makes sense. Next time they'll just have to ban it all.
  2. I've driven or boated into town to check the same post box for almost 50 years now. I kind of expected drones would be dropping/picking things up by now. It's not that I'm in any particular hurry but the future never did come fast enough for my liking.
  3. There's going to be a big right wing backlash in Canada - after 50 years of doing nothing except grumble and moan that commies are taking over? That'll be the day.
  4. He couldn't beat Trump without Trudeau.
  5. Yeah well, exiting the US can trigger a $600k tax bill so there you go. Obviously another failure of commyism - still well worth fleeing in either case right?
  6. Thanks for this, its good to know we're losing in the race to the bottom. The less that moves the less that gets hurt.
  7. Sue. As I recall you felt much the same way about that flu that was only killing old farts. It really was an opportunity lost wasn't it? Oki doki. Good to know.
  8. We'll still be faced with the reality that Aboriginal title is prior and senior to fee simple property until it's either; 1. Negotiated 2.Litigated 3. Extinguished # 1 is my preferred option but it's likelier # 2 will be used until the cows come home. It's way to late for # 3 especially where it hasn't happened, as in most of BC - and in light of modern treaties here I suspect First Nations in the ROC will be wanting to revisit anything they signed away in the past. Given litigation will likely persist for generations negotiating seems the better option. Personally I think we might have to revisit Confederation and start from scratch. There seems to be quite a bit of unhappiness surrounding the relationship just about everyone has with their governments around the country anyway so. I think it could certainly use some updating to reflect more modern sensibilities.
  9. Turbine blades can be recycled by grinding and mixing the results into concrete. Newer blades are also being designed and made of materials that can be recycled more easily at the end of their life. The industry is obviously moving in the right direction.
  10. The little standard Ford Ranger pickup I drive is the best North American vehicle I've ever owned. But Asian cars are definitely superior. Our Honda CRV topping the list. I'm hoping it'll be the last ICE car we own and look forward to getting an Asian EV ASAP.
  11. How do you prevent that and who are the Chinese exactly?
  12. Eliminate with polonium or double taps to the head? Why not just use good old fashioned right-wing methods like Pinochet's? You round up the obvious ones into torture arenas, use blow torches and pliers to create lists of other lefties and rinse and repeat until you get them all. You need an ideological restructuring of Canadian society. But a simple x on a ballot won't do it. It literally needs to be street by street, house by house and even family by family at times.
  13. We only need to figure out how to be happy in an economy that doesn't grow or only grows a little bit or even shrinks a little. How hard can it be?
  14. Not with no people whatsoever, but there'll still be millions of people doing stuff for their living. The fear is that the economy and country will perish without an economy that is always growing. It's funny how the people who howl the hardest about no economic growth can't tolerate the primary means of growing the economy.
  15. No, the carbon tax was only adding $0.17 a litre when it was cancelled.
  16. There it is....this is the only real influencing thing people should be concerned about, whether its Chinese, Russian, Saudi, American or even Canadian. The rest is just bullshit.
  17. I've said it ever since you have known me. I don't know who the fรนck you are you just sound an awful lot like people I do know.
  18. The Tea Partiers are descended from the followers of George Wallace. The Republican Party deserves them.
  19. Sure. And where were you when I was saying no truck nor trade with China 30 years ago? Celebrating globalization and trickle down theories would be my guess. Why should I care now when the writing on the wall has been so clear for decades that no one gave a shit? Now they give a shit?
  20. You figure the CBC is under Chinese control too? Heck it could be the other way around for all anyone knows.
  21. I've got more pressing and immediate things to do and don't pay enough attention to care really. I take my cue from my other grandkids grandparents from Hong Kong who really don't give a damn either way...either. First of all CSIS is not an independent crown corporation at arms length from the PMO. Whatever is going on is happening at a level of wealth and power that I'm not particularly surprised at or able to do much about without having a better means to reign in our own government's excesses. You should know what I mean by that if you've been paying attention, to me that is - not the caricature/hallucination you usually converse with when you respond to me.
  22. What censors? Coyne, rightly so, also shook his head enthusiastically when the topic included mention of back-benchers feeling less restrained in a Parliamentary environment that is increasingly less disciplined and harder to whip into compliance. We can only hope.
  23. And if they don't why would they be inclined to believe anything CSIS says?
