  1. No but today's high school students have shown that they value getting to work sooner than spending 4+ years on a college degree. Even if it is free.. you have time that you have to spend on the classes, studying, taking exams. That either means you have a stressful life working full time while going to school full time.. or more likely, they take a part time job (therefore opportunity costs taken into account). Also, you generally have to take a certain type of job when you are going to school full time (Yes, i know this intimately). These are food service, customer service, or retail. All of which are relatively low pay and you have to deal with the public. so if a student has woke attitudes.. how would the school know this and be able to stop them from voicing such woke views on social media, word of mouth, etc? If it is easy to identify then lets seem some EXACT criteria where there is absolutely no subjective judgment. Age, city of residence, GPA are not subjective so as to give you examples.
  2. 3. it takes time to attend classes, do assignments, etc.... Time that you could spend doing other things. Its called opportunity costs. They do matter. 1. Wokeness.. can't be legislated away because it can't be explicitly defined. You can define someone's age or where they reside.. but their wokeness or lack thereof is purely subjective.
  3. agreed... human nature means both sides. I remember reading a post of liberalforum.org and the guy was absolutely convinced that because two individuals in the Russian collusion were seen entering the same building 5 minutes apart from each other.. this was the "smoking gun".. When asked about what was said.. he could not produce a single syllable.
  4. and because they want affirmation not information.. the slightest hint that something/someone agrees with them, this "evidence" is not only rock solid but the proverbial smoking gun. Ask a DA and they will tell that almost never have the "smoking gun".
  5. Harm.. infers civil law/lawsuits. That is not the point though. To not allow the speech is something different entirely.
  6. wokeness is a matter of speech, expression... You can't say it will not be woke without infringing upon someone's right to free speech. Higher education is expensive no matter the place. You have to hire staff, build buildings, have a lot of technical infrastructure, etc.. Professors do not work on the cheap no matter the topic. Besides enrollment is on the decline and hate to tell you.. it is not about politics. As always, its all about the time and money. High school students are starting to question the time spent to get the degree. the cost of tuition, and the foregone wages.
  7. Immediate? No. At least where I live, it is 30 days. This issue insulates the tenant from the crooked landlord. Not all landlords are upstanding, moral individuals. Most are but not all. As for the tenants, 30 days is long enough for them to acquire additional housing.
  8. It is amazing what some deem as "evidence". When our dept was sued, we became paralegals and lawyers overnight. I was able to show not infer that the person originated the claims from the Cayman Islands. Also, through some clever sleuthing.. we proved that the name that they used was fictitious. Also, were able to prove with 100% certainty that the claims were generated through via AI
  9. If we analyzed every product except water.. you could find that it is harmful to someone. How about folks simply take responsibility. In my 20's drank way too much mountain dew. Result... all sorts of dental problems. Have I ever sought assistance in paying for it? No.
  10. Not everybody is as resilient/perfect as the OP. Most humans if told that they are worthless from a young age.. will achieve nothing. A few detractors are expected but if it is ubiquitous.. it will seep into your way of being. With my kids, my general approach is celebrate their achievements and use the negatives as teaching moments. As for myself, I never had issues in the academic dept. It was always assumed that i would graduate, go to college, and not end in the manual labor world.
  11. "It will be strictly non-political, and there will be no wokeness or jihadism allowed—none of that's going to be allowed." This is a violation of the First Amendment on many levels. However, the real problem is the expense. Running a higher education institution is expensive and the younger generation is going to be reluctant to attach their future to something like this. Hence... low enrollment. Enrollment has been on the decline for the last 5 years. Seems like this would have been a better idea in 2000. Today.. too little too late.
  12. Stupidity and politicians goes together much like beer and pretzels.
  13. The American Academy... another vastly unrealistic and overly expensive idea. Also.. a bit unconstitutional at its core.
  14. yes.. yet another one of thousands of internet forums that boil down to the same, pointless right vs. left, left vs. right conundrum. Folks seeking affirmation.. in short.
  15. The OP is nothing but a subjective opinion from someone who has no first hand or boots on the ground knowledge. Yes, he has a computer and can search the internet... so can millions of others. Before the inevitable gaslighting comes on... I can freely admit that I do not work for the FBI, have never done so, and have never dealt with them. We occasionally converge with the IRS at the office but its nothing all that interesting. That being said, my knowledge is limited to the same subjective internet articles as everyone else and so of little informative value.
  16. if one is being completely realistic.. both parties want single party rule. neither would complain about their party winning every election.
  17. Nothing says simplistic or lack of intelligence like basing your decisions/pride on something that you can't control. Furthermore, do we not control our race but it is binary. 1 or 0, black or white. That lack of options, nuance, context tells how simple minded some are.
  18. Totally Eradicating Veteran Homelessness... unrealistic at best. I applaud the idea but the execution of said policy would be incredibly expensive. Veteran or not.. they are still responsible for their own life/existence.
  19. No. Life in the USA is not bad. Quite a few on here and in general love to practice the arts of hyperbole and exaggeration. The thinking is that no one will listen to them incessantly complain if they acknowledge that life is not all that bad.
  20. Marx did not explicitly state anything about how things should be. Das Kapital is mostly a story/prediction about how he thought things would unfold. His logic was that labor's value would increase and therefore the proletariat (the working class) would rise up against factory owners and then the government. Interesting how his words have been so misconstrued. From a purely economics viewpoint.. everything he wrote has been disproven.
  21. Interesting how some can be proud of something that they do not control. Nevermind, one's decisions, achievements, etc.. Nahh.. lets focus on innate characteristics that one has 0% control over.
  22. I have encountered one person in my 46 years who has ACTUALLY read Das Kapital from cover to cover other than myself. It is hard reading.. not exactly a John Grisham novel. That being said.. it is vastly different from what ignorant, opinionated internet forum posters would paint it as. Its not interesting... honestly. Page after page about the labor theory of value and what is the proletariat.
  23. this thread is proof that politics in America is turning into a joke. It has always been a bit of a farce but now the curtain is wide open.
