  1. Being someone that has access to the voter registration database in my state... I laugh at most of you. The real issue is that they put no effort into cleaning this database. Hence why two ballots get mailed to the same person or issues like that. This idea that some Illuminati is watching it and manipulating it is simply over active imagination. In NV, one gets added to the Database automatically upon getting a drivers license or learners permit. If you move from CA and then come back to NV.. your old record on most occasions does not get removed. That is just one example amongst many.
  2. So let me guess... you read a story upon its first unveiling and within seconds form a strong opinion? If so.. its a good thing that you are not in a position to do any type of data analysis.
  3. I am also free to point out how pointless and redundant it is. The fact that you can say the same thing 987 times and not recognize that you are getting no value from it is rather telling. Guess what? When you say it the 988th time.. It will have even less impact on your intended audience.
  4. First.. If I was in power, I would mandate that every high school senior in cities greater than 100,000 spend 4 weeks living and working in a rural setting. They would not be slaves. They would get paid. However ,this would give them a new perspective into how the other half lives. I spent summers at my grandparents ranch in remote Central idaho. This does not mean that I agree with what the locals do.. but I also do not simply view them as braindead, inbreeding hicks. I know their life and what motivates them. I find that a lot of younger, urbane folks have never left the city. They view the suburb 15 miles from the major town as the "middle of nowhere" and so have zero knowledge of how a non-city dweller would live.
  5. Yes but I know that you would tune it out by the end of the first sentence? If I had my way.. we would not talk about trans folks and Trump every day.. not much can change on a daily basis but yet on this board.. we just keep recycling the same topic. No new information but yet we need to say the same thing for 984th time and pretend that it has value.
  6. Now.. if only, these election officials knew the legality behind this. This is not like buying a newspaper at a gas station.
  7. Being that this board is about canadian politics, I will mention that I am currently reading Barkskins by Anne Proulx. Being that I am not canadian and have never been to Quebec.. it is fascinating to read about this area.
  8. As someone who has read a ton of classic literature, there is a fair degree of racism in the pages. However, it is revisionist to expect them to not be. Does that completely invalidate it? Not even close. I realize that these books are not being banned but still it is fairly reflexive and immature to exclude these. If you really want to understand the 1917 Russian Revolution, you need to read War and Peace by Tolstoy and The Id10t by Dostoyevsky. These novels are full of stuff that would get you cancelled in 2024, but are also full of historical backstory that clues you into why the 1917 revolution came to be.
  9. no matter how unregulated a forum is, it inevitably becomes an echo chamber. The same relatively small group of like minded people come to tell each how smart they are and how stupid/immoral everybody else is. They come seeking affirmation and usually get it. New ideas.. pfft, lets not confuse things.
  10. It is a lack of bias on my part to know that two facts are one narrative but 4 facts are something else entirely.
  11. Prove to me that as an adult that you are forced to celebrate this... and then I will answer your questions. Lets start with this.
  12. I believe in the freedom to be whatever you want to be. I am not religious and so like the fact that I can live a fulfilling life without anyone/anything religious in my life. However, If I was religious, I would like to think that I could live a fulfilling life with it being central to my life. Out least out west.. if you want to live in a more conservative place where religious values are codified in the laws.. you generally just have to live in a rural and most likely isolated place. Some will say, "I should not have to do that". Well... I guess it is a matter of how bad you want this.
  13. Exactly.. known as of one point in time. new information filters in over time. New information usually changes a person's view of a topic. You can't possibly be so biased to not acknowledge that.
  14. I do believe that government should be secular. If the folks in government are Christian.. so be it. Therefore, if their Christian values filter into the laws that they propose/write/pass, again so be it. The converse is true. It is a simple matter of freedom of religion (to believe or not).
  15. So then who has the egg on their face when new developments take six to 12 months to come to light? Had these credible sources waited six to 12 months... no one reads their stuff.
  16. Where we differ is that I do not view morality and religiosity as one in the same. Being less religious does not automatically mean less moral. However, back to the point.. folks were more religious. The best evidence that I have found of this is that when a new town was created.. the church predated any government buildings of any sort.
  17. you are quite the comedian. Wait too long and someone breaks the story before you..
  18. There may not have been explicit language.. such as "christian nation" or whatever. However, that is not necessary. History shows that folks were more religious in the past.
  19. Were the Founders religious? undoubtedly. Was the Christian faith (regardless of denomination) a key underpinning to their ways, policies, and culture? Again.. yes. Not really sure what there is to debate.
  20. Both sides claim that the other is intolerant, bigots, racist. etc. I have been hearing the same old song and dance since the mid-80's.
  21. Credible reporting organizations also know that more information comes in time... but your bias gets in the way of you realizing this.
  22. Regardless of who says it or the context.. I have quite the allergy to hyperbolic propaganda like that. That would have lost my vote (not sure exactly how it works in Canada)
  23. unless it is something like weather or sports.. I wait for a story to develop before weighing in. Forming a strong, informed (feel free to laugh) based on reading chapters 1 and 2 of a 12 chapter novel seems a bit silly and juvenile.
  24. As an adult.. repeat Adult.. show me how you (yes, you) are forced at gun point to celebrate this? No moving the goal posts..
  25. It was not nearly that bad here. As for shunning someone. I could and still could not to this day care less if someone was vaxxed and such. Actually the folks that I tended to be unpleasant were those who went out of their way to enforce the mask mandates.
