I would it is mostly nature. I have an older brother who grew up in the same working class, poor, but very Conservative background. 4 of the 5 kids are/were heterosexual and yet he has always leaned towards men. Most of his female partners have been short, skinny, and flat chested. Small sample size and all but that is my two cents

FOX LIES internal emails SHOW
impartialobserver replied to robosmith's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Folks want affirmation not information. Affirmation comes with a certain style to it hence why Trump, Tucker Carlsen, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, and Ann Coulter are popular. -
Directionless Outrage...And Boredom

What else do you call it? Passionate, adamant, outspoken.. and yet all they do is complain and whine via internet.. internet chat forums, facebook, twitter, tiktok. Now, do they actually spend a dime to help these causes that they are supposedly so passionate about? No. They spend nothing, they do nothing. -

I see evidence of this on a daily basis. I swim in raw data all day. Not interpretations, not subjective opinions. My stuff looks like this. When we are asked about stuff like jobs in xyz industry, wages, unemployment, job postings, etc... if we give raw numbers, the glazed look comes on in 2 seconds on the best of days. They want passionate, opinionated takes on how the number went up due to this liberal/conservative, and so on. 3200100000001231000..... -

I find in general that folks care more about style than substance.. hence why FOX NEWS is alive and well -
I will give this story one last time. Every time that I post on a forum... I get your response. When I was on the now-defunct amazon politics forum, I kept getting banned. Some less-than-brilliant individual would put down the bait and I would take it. Well, on the 9th (or so) time, I was tapped out of user name ideas and found this on a book review. I use it mostly out of habit. No one can be truly impartial. To not care about anything is not conducive to life.

California's budget issues pre-date any talk of reparations. I live 8 miles from the state and visit CA 3 or 4 times per year and have insight that few, if any, on here do. I think paying reparations is silly but their budget issues come back to two items.... public sector pensions and regulations on property management (being a landlord).

Being that I will finally see them in concert in May 2023.. my flavor of the week is The Cure.

Directionless Outrage...And Boredom
impartialobserver replied to Nationalist's topic in Political Philosophy
I have said the same thing in not such a succinct fashion as that of the OP many times. I spent summers in a very remote corner of eastern Idaho. No public utilities, no paved roads, and very limited phone service. Compared to my hometown, Boise, it was a step back in time. I got a unique insight into how life in the modern urban life is fairly easy. There is no grand oppressor to rail against but there is still this drive to rail against something, someone. I find it pointless to be a "slacktivist". Instead of desperately finding causes to fight for or against... I focus on my kids and my immediate life. -

Montreal: Remarkable City
impartialobserver replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Unilingual... means nothing to me. I do intend to visit Montreal one day. However, first up on the Canadian itinerary is Edmonton -
exceedingly unpopular, I know, but the trans issue means absolutely nothing to me. Not for or against... just could not care less.

Senior Discounts -Why do old people pay less?
impartialobserver replied to August1991's topic in Business and Economy
Discretionary pricing. There are certain groups that are perceived to have less discretionary income and so if you offer discounts.. it increases the probability of a sale. Older people are perceived to have less income due to being on fixed incomes (Social Security).
