Marks hasn't had any Tall sizes in 5 years, I used to buy their WindRiver shirts. Costco has like 3 or 4 men's clothes items at best. I have no brand loyalty, they all seem to eventually turn to shit. And I like the 32 score idea, though in 2023 I don't know any outfit that would earn more than a 1 for Customer Service. I'm such a pessimist in that field I am sure within a decade we'll be charged for using the self checkouts and there will be even longer lines to use them. They'll have some $1 a ton chemical they add to plastic bags to make them biodegradable and people will say they shop a X cuz they only charge $2 a bag and $2 to self checkout

So you're all for communism? Soviet blockhouses? I'd be all for it if they were nicer housing anywhere but the places mentioned. Then again, I'm all for nation building when everyone else only wants destroying.

The Left is Destroying Western Civilization

I was going to ask some posters do do up their fly as their swastikas were showing. Nor do I gain anything by reading the same narrow minded religious opinions over and over by others believing that will make them truths. As for the British Empire, it was in palliative care before I was born and died an inglorious death before we even heard of the Beatles. -

Tom Douglas wasn't a 'real' minister. That ranks right up there with Catholics are not 'real' Christians on my formula "the more one spouts their Christian righteousness is an inverse square proportion to their actual Christianity' scale. -
Senior Discounts -Why do old people pay less?
herbie replied to August1991's topic in Business and Economy
Why seniors discounts? Why do they advertise? Why make coupons? To get them to shop in your store. Funniest thing I ever saw was doing retail. Everyone who had a monthly account and paid on time, we sent a coupon worth so much on anything in the store. A guy walked in and threw a handful at the teller and screamed not to waste his time with these goddam thing. Paid his $40 bill with Visa, stormed out and we picked up the $25 worth of coupons and sent them out to customers in the next cycle. Once I sent and employee out and he papered all the windshields at the Grad ceremony with $100 off a computer on that Grad Day coupons. We watched from across the street as one guy tore it from his windshield wiper and marched like 200 yards from the parking lot to barge in and scream how dare we touch his car.... -
Man charged with murder after defending his home from a lunatic
herbie replied to West's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Schiff flooding instead of deflection your specialty? Fling shit in every direction and hope something sticks? It's pretty simple actually: self-defence means right to defend you or someone else. not property. If someone's stealing your car or breaking into your home you can wave a gun and chase them away or hold a gun to their head and hold them til the cops get there, but if you shoot they will review it and you MAY be charged and/or convicted. -
Abortion has Sweet F*** All to do with antisemitism on the Left. So STFU already, you're just incapable of discussing an issue without deflecting to an entirely different issue. Successfully draqged everyone into discussing an entirely different subject you think you have a chance of "winning" at.

Man charged with murder after defending his home from a lunatic

Try learning a little about law. And reading the very links your post, the circumstances of the i2 cases are different. The difference ultimately comes down to how prosecutors apply the facts to the Criminal Code’s self-defence rules. Sections 34 and 35 of the code say someone is not guilty of an offence if their actions were a “reasonable” response to a threat of or actual use of force, or to stop someone from entering or damaging property without permission. There is no self-defence of property. -
Don't have a clue what genocide means. Don't have a clue what racism is. Don't have clue what right and left mean politically. But can't STFU that they must be all connected because they don't like something. The Triumph of the Ignoroids.

Why waste your time with people so screwed in the head they equate birth control with genocide. And block headed enough not to distinguish criticism of a state's policy with racism.

Bullshit. The damned charge laid filed proves that specifically. Are you another person that thinks what you believe over-rides the law of the land? Then welcome to join the local peanut gallery. -

but not always of killing him, that's what I pointed out. If there's evidence of wrongdoing. charges can be laid, so there obviously was. And the laws in Ontario are the same as everywhere else in the country. Once had a local pi-sstank I didn't know at the time barge in the front door while the wife and I were watching TV. I frogmarched him out kicked him in the ass and told him I'd call the cops if I saw him in my yard ever again. If I'd panicked and shot him, I'd be in jail. The operational word is proportional response, not minimal or maximum. -
Ontario needs to invest in EVs as a realistic Option.
herbie replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Tesla's opening it's superchargers in the US to everyone. Ford is telling dealerships they must install a fast charger on their lots. Hopefully all car makers will make that their dealership policy. We don't have a charger in our town (yet), its 60 kms to the nearest one in the next town. But there's a few EVs around ppl charge overnight. A friend bought his wife a PHEV Mitsubishi SUV and it interests me. Almost a large as the old Saturn Vue I don't use much anymore, and she told me he made her drive to Costco (175kms away) because she hadn't gassed up for 3 months and it was going stale.... and I was pumping hundreds of bucks at the time to fill up the Wrangler. I find the Mazda rotary PHRV I described as fascinating - it actually changes the single rotor's speed each firing cycle to achieve better fuel and emission specs that makes vibrations, but because it's only a generator doesn't make that noticeable thru the drive train. I will try to find the video that explains it. Only puts out 94 hp, but at a steady highway sped that's more than enough - when you need more it draws from the onboard battery. We could also look at powering Hybrids with propane or LNG. Lots of options to explore. Like with everything - there's far more than just either or, black or white solutions. -

If you kill someone you'll be charged. There's a more narrow definition for justifying killing an intruder. if the guy was unarmed and not threatening, you could possibly get convicted with 2nd degree murder. If the shot was not meant to kill, it could be manslaughter. Or if the gun was loaded and just sitting there in your home you will get convicted of several gun related things and probably not get to own one again. There's no blanket excuse to shoot people in Canada. The court will determine if there was. And keep in mind charged and convicted are two different things. -

Good God the usual nitpicking BS barely relevant to the subject. Objecting to some singer that inserts a word in the anthem rather than jazzing it up to something barely recognizable. Jimi Hendrix did that 50 years ago, everyone since is a peepee-poor mimic. That makes her 'left'? Implying Canadian content regs are subsidies and therefore 'left'. Condemning the CBC for costing money while they handout multiples of it's budget to private Telcos to do their job? Cagey Bee sez: You mek me laff comrades...hwah hwah hwah.! -

I won't go on that you've bought the rightwing pitch on 'bias', I'll just note you don't get out much. A - 'the Internet' is the worst place to get news B - You haven't noticed the paywalls on legacy news sites C - You bought the CRTC bull about Canadians and Internet access. They lie thru their teeth, claim it's available without regard to price and under-define the concept of high speed Internet. I had a 30Mb up& down unlimited connection in 2014 for only $4200 a month. In 2005 I paid $5000 a month for 10 Mbps to resell & share to the whole town. D- you're sold on the concept that people should have to pay for news and information on their own country, to some private for profit corporation. Knowing well that the country can't maintain a PBS like system. We run a local OTA rebroadcast here funded by the local taxes, I'm used to hearing ppl stand up and swear that satellite and cable TV only costs about $10 a month so why should they have to pay (like $25 a year) just cuz someone else can't pay for satellite. Total lie, and I was the only one with guts to stand up and say so. Our local rebroadcast was set up in the early 1970s - when ppl had the brains to understand what was better and less expensive rather than if the idea was "left" or "right". They did so because they knew the cable outfit would only connect the densest downtown core and leave everyone else with nothing. As they DID - 40 years later when rules were rewritten. Then a few years ago the Telco bought the cable company out, boosted the rates on lower Internet packages so it wouldn't hurt the old 'diesel" lines and yeah - now you can get 120 Mb if you want to pay $120 a month. Pay the telco $120 or the cable $120, or the WISP $120 or Elon $150 and you can get your new for free. BTW the OTA broadcast is still going. 31 TV stations and 10 FM radio. And thanks to co-op management and digital tv all for less than the original grant. And there really are a few who are flatly opposed won't watch it and pay $100 for satellite instead, because it's communist. -

The bias that it reports the news and is clear what is opinion? Or that it reports the government's side is on an issue more often than some Joe Id10t's? It doesn't hold back on reporting gov't mistakes and scandals, regardless of the party in power. Or is the issue that it will report on consumer issues, environmental issues, native issues and worker issues that no other outfit even will but you don't like and don't want to hear? Or is it the issue that anyone anywhere in Canada can out up an antenna and recieve it for free - and you're so Americanized you'll sing out Who Must Pay? Who Must Pay? Why should I pay for his? This bias bullshit is a Big Lie repeated over the last few decades so that people actually believe it is true. A reporters job is to report the events, and if the powers that be have a statement that too. Not to seek out 2nd opinions. hat's your job, and their Editorial board. -

Which is what everyone does. Just as everyone wants an SUV because they're more useful. And the inherent problems with hybrids can and will be solved, look at Mazda's idea of an updated rotary engine that runs at a steady RPM for best mileage and least pollution. That will take care of people with only one car, which believe it or not is a minority. There's your range problem gone a huge reduction in fuel and CO2, tie in a little BEV putt putt in your 2 car garage and the family's all set. And at risk of 1,000 pages of excuses not to, Toyota and Honda are investing billions on FUEL CELL vehicles. Forge ahead with stories of the future with cars burning on every corner and vehicles exploding like the Hindenburg... -

No, it's the definition of insurance policy. Milk them for as much as you can and deny them as much as you can. -
Partly because we have access to too much information. All sorts of news from all over the world all the time. Anecdote: my step daughter blew up at me for saying she was 'helicopter Mom' because she walked her 11 yr old daughter to and from school one and a half blocks away. She said there were SEVEN 'registered child molesters' in her complex alone. She lived in Terrace BC at the time, I doubt there were 7 in the entire town. If there was ONE in her complex everyone would know his name, they could verify it at the cop shop. Where did she get the info? From her FB friends... from a local paper report of someone caught with kiddy porn on their computer... from TV news reports that could've been from any big city,,, and from her dropout level perception of blending everything together and assuming. That's why we're full of Hunter Biden's laptop, panics over balloons and rages against woke and never real political issues.

So if you insist gun control is absolutely useless then you must admit your society has turned to complete shit, won't you? Like OMG can't even admit that the country that makes all the guns isn't the one where guns in Canada are being smuggled in from... you think Canada is like Palestine, Africa or Haiti and the gangs are using AK47s?

I always accuse these so-called conservatives of wanting to go back to 1953. Well 1953 had it's good points. Someone posting pics implying the President was a child molester wouold've had their face slap[ped clean down the block. Someone who bragged about molesting women, paid hush money to hookers, sucked up to US enemies while stabbing allies in the back and attempting to overthrow the elected gov't by force would have fried on the electric chair.
