Canadians FEAR Trump...Big Time
?Impact replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Canada will build a wall around Trump and send the bill to the Republican party. -
No central church/authority?

Canada - a wholly owned province of China

Citizens of the People's republic of China require a visa to travel to Canada, those from most European countries only need an eTA if travelling by air or non if travelling by land/sea. Perhaps it is the fact that visa centres in Europe would be essentially useless is the reason for this disparity. I don't have any buggy whip stores in my hometown either. How many Embassies and Consulates does Canada have in Europe (34 by my count, 3 of which are Embassy offices but still more than a visa office0? Note that there are twice the number of people in China spread over three times the area. -

God created the honey bee in his own image so they tell each other where the food was to be found. -
What is most interesting is the two 'beliefs' are completely false. The last figure I saw from California was $308 million to kill someone. Assuming the person commits the murder when they are 18 years old, and live to be 95, that works out to $4 million a year. Cost of incarceration is maybe 7-8% of that. There have been numerous studies that have proven the deference argument is completely false.

If there is a civil disturbance and the police are called, then they should show up. I expect the boycott action is about paid duty (ie. on their own time) officers providing security services for the facility. If they had signed some contract to provide services, then there could be a civil action lawsuit they will have to answer to. Police, like any other group, have the right to protest as long as it does not interfere with their sworn duties.

Accommodating male/female segregation for Muslims?
?Impact replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Sex and Gender Issues
So bad Catholics are ok, but bad Islam is not? -
Obviously on a rational one, and not the illogical one you seem to inhabit. Your argument was to prevent future incidents, and I pointed out that life incarceration accomplishes the same goal. Going off on some wild tangent about the the particulars of the murder may gain you emotional support, but it doesn't further a rational argument.

Accommodating male/female segregation for Muslims?

Give one, just one, example of me defending someone with fundamentalist views. In fact just give me one example of defending Islam. I have never once, I think Islam is a sham. I am simply pointing out that Catholicism (etc.) is also a sham. What I defend are people, your average everyday mom, pop, and kids that are caught up in your hatred against Islam. As I have pointed out before, incarcerated Canadians are not representative of our population as a whole and neither is ISIS representative of Muslims as a whole. I see people as individuals and don't project my prejudices onto someone because of the colour of their skin, the country they were born, or the religion they practice. -
How about we just watch a Clinton speech and a Trump speech and turn off the volume. I think the visuals alone will demonstrate who has health and mental problems.

Accommodating male/female segregation for Muslims?

In force until 1983. Nothing I have ever said is to support Islam, let alone fundamentalist Islam. I think all religious people are complete nitwads. I am simply pointing out that we have been living with those nitwads for a long time. -
This is a good distinction. For example i believe that marijuana should be legal, but I refrain from using it because it is illegal; Health is entirely tangental to the discussion. I don't consider myself a criminal because I believe marijuana should be legal. Should I be denied entry into the US because of my beliefs?

Yes, GM is growing fast in China. This is through their joint partnership with SAIC Motor and Liuzhou Wuling Motors Co Ltd. They actually sold more cars than in the US as well. -

Certainly there are a lot of similarities. The canons were written in Latin, and at least up until very recently translations were forbidden. In fact at one time translations of the Bible were forbidden. William Tyndall, the man who is responsible for about 90% of the translation of the King James Bible, was strangled and burned at the stake near Brussels in October 6th, 1536 for his effort. -
While I agree that there needs to be a 'Not Criminally Responsible' distinction in the case of mental illness, it does not mean that the individual should have no consequences for their actions. The dollars needs to be in the proper health care facilities rather than correctional services. Someone who commits an act against another person needs to be properly monitored as an in-patient in the proper facility, and just as much care needs to be placed in changing them from in-patient to out-patient status as we do in releasing someone from full-time custody to day-parol or full parol, including monitoring them as they re-enter the community. Just because someone has a NCR designation for a crime does not mean that the crime was not committed, and that no restrictions need to be placed on the individual.

Canadian values listed so far in the conversation: 1. We don't stone women. Seems a little short to me, perhaps we can do the screening in a couple of seconds. Do you think we can enlarge the list? b.t.w. How does equality fit into the equation? Do we stone men? Is this about capital punishment (which we certainly have many who seem to have differing opinions), is it about method of capital punishment, or is it about crimes that are subject to capital punishment?

The 1917 Code of Canon Law, canon 1262, stated: 1. It is desirable that, consistent with ancient discipline, women be separated from men in church. 2. Men, in a church or outside a church, while they are assisting at sacred rites, shall be bare-headed, unless the approved mores of the people or peculiar circumstances of things determine otherwise; women, however, shall have a covered head and be modestly dressed, especially when they approach the table of the Lord. This was not carried forward in the 1983 Code of Cannon law, those Catholics have 33+ years on the Muslims in progressive ideas of equality. Some of course still dispute this because the Bible (New Testament) clearly tells us: 1 Corinthians 11:3-16 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
