Obviously you are not a framer either. Yup, not a farmer. Do you know what a heifer is? Nor an astronomer.

Your thoughts on official unilingualism?
?Impact replied to Machjo's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes, it is time the majority realize that protecting the minority in the country/province/city doesn't help them so they can tell the minority to GTH. The majority has spoken, and they will trample the minority. Time that the French in Quebec trample the English in Quebec. Time that the English in Canada trample the French. Time that the Chinese trample us all. -
Empirical evidence suggests it is about 45%. Slightly more than 50% of observed solar systems are binary or more.

To be fair, only China and India have larger populations than the USA so I wouldn't expect any (comparatively) smaller European country to have more nutjobs. China has held the nutjobs in place by having many years of bigger nutjobs in power. We are whoever drifting from the "is there a God" theme.

Wynne says Hydro rates an "Urgent" Issue
?Impact replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
No, I mean exactly what I said. For the opposition to get their act together and provide a credible alternative. -
Yes, the old 'mathematically' BS. Well mathematically it is +n times more impossible that a God would happen. This friggen magic explanation is friggen boring.

What exactly is French Canada and English Canada? There are places in Manitoba and New Brunswick that would qualify as French Canada, just like there are places in Quebec that would qualify as English Canada. Places with a long history, dating far before confederation. -
Obviously you need to understand what credible means. Blue sky, ergo God - is not credible. Fire, ergo God - is not credible. You talk about simplification, yet ignore physics which is far better at explaining simplification than God. Yes it is far from completely understood, but friggen magic is not a better explanation.

I (nor any progressive I am aware of) is defensive about the brutality and barbaric practices of anybody, be they Muslim or not. I (and all progressives I am aware of) do not support execution of gays. Segregation is part of all society, it is where and how that segregation is applied that differentiates it. If you want to be against all segregation, then speak up against it all. Enforcing 'moral' behaviour is also part of all society. I am against telling a woman she must wear a burka, hijab, etc, just like I am against telling a woman that she cannot wear a burka, hijab, etc. We have all sorts of laws against nudity in the beach, park, etc; those are equal examples of trying to enforce 'morality'. If someone chooses to be part of a mosque that says they dress a certain way, then that is their choice. Telling them they must be part of that mosque is what I condemn. Telling someone they cannot nude sunbathe is a far worse transgression than telling someone they cannot choose to obey some rules they want in order to be part of clique. I don't go into a Mason lodge and tell them how to run their internal ceremonies.

No, there is no credible evidence of God. Thank you for acknowledging the difference between a preference and a need.

I suggest you learn about sushi. You will find that for the most part it is very low in sodium. Barbecued eel is one exception, and yes I love it too but it represents a very small fraction of the sushi I eat. When properly handled and prepared, there is very little chance of bacterial induced diseases through sushi. In fact the majority of problems at sushi restaurants have been the rice and/or sauces, and not the fish. You should learn about science and not fiction.

Please inform the Orthodox Jewish Union that wants a mechitza in the synagogue, the thought process is essentially identical. They adopted/reaffirmed that policy as recent as 2002.

We have not been adapted to cook, we prefer to cook. We can survive very well on a diet of raw foods, some may argue we can be healthier for it. I prefer sushi to cooked fish any day, but I prefer variety above that. Your 'logic' is flawed.

Apple Corporation is Bad for Technology
?Impact replied to MiddleClassCentrist's topic in Health, Science and Technology
Where do you see the applications? Certainly gaming, and some other real (or pseudo) world simulation is a possibility. For many of us however, that is a very minor part of computer interaction (in my case way less than 1%). There are still large obstacles to overcome for many real world simulation environments, because almost all involve a local real physical environment as well (aircraft cockpit, power plant control room, etc.) that doesn't mesh with todays VR. While I have seen some demos about information navigation, they have all been contrived and don't necessarily fit into the real world. The only applications I am aware of that offer promise is when robotics are involved for remote telepresence. -
Canadians FEAR Trump...Big Time
?Impact replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Yes, there are certainly a percentage of deplorables within the Clinton ranks as well. We know it is between 50-58% of Trump supporters, I will leave it to you to peg a percentage for Clinton supporters. -

Actually that speaks to the class warfare that the rich have been winning for the past several decades. We are all owed pension plans, yet we have allowed the corporations to slowly get rid of them with the help of their political puppets. The benefits of society should go to all society, not just rich which believe they have the entitlement. Back to the topic at hand. This guy was acting like a jerk, and I don't see anybody defending him. We do however have the self-righteous somehow accusing the 'progressives'. -
What is sad, is insisting something based on zero logic. You are providing examples that are clearly wrong, and then pretending there are billions of other unexplained examples which are also no doubt clearly wrong as well. You don't win an argument by being loudest, unless your last name is Trump and you are trying to convince deplorables. We are the only animal that cooks our food, and there is zero biological reason for it. Yes, we have developed preferences for it, but that is nothing to do with biology. Cooking, and other tools, have allowed us to overpopulate but as we have seen that has many other problems associated with that.

Canadians FEAR Trump...Big Time
?Impact replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Canada / United States Relations
What does it say about those (assumed) Trump supporters that threatened this young lady with death? The deplorables have exposed themselves. -
Trump makes Clinton look good. Trump makes Romney look good.

I agree, honour killing should be condemned. The problem is that dictating what someone should/should not wear also needs to be condemned, and when people call for banning a hijab, they need to be strongly condemned.

Not sure what you are getting at. Who says I have (or have not) thought about the existence of a creature (I assume you mean creator) power? I don't live in a black and white world, I look at al possibilities. I also look at probabilities, and that is where the creator power fails miserably. We strive to understand the physics of our universe, as that is what opens up the possibilities and probabilities. We are able to see great diversity, and imagine that even greater diversity is possible. I already pointed out that the colour of the sky is of minor significance to our evolution. What if the vegetation was blue, would that harm us? Again you bring up preference, which has absolutely nothing to do with physical evolution. Blue is beautiful, and cooked is better. Others may like purple and raw sushi. Yes, cooking may change some of the physical attributes, but not always for the better. Cooking can make some thing more tender and easier to chew, others it can make them tougher. Cooking may destroy some harmful bacteria, but it can also create carcinogenic heterocyclic amines and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons; both of which are overrated.

Consolidated IT services are always problematic. It is a process controlled by short sighted bean counters. Management (the government) does play a role in creating incentives for false savings. The issue come from the mandate to use their services, rather than the central department bidding for the business. While there are certain services that make sense to centralize (e.g. email, payroll, etc.), the big point of contention has long been the desktop. Yes, that is a big part of the problem. To be fair, changing course is also a perilous route. While a new government (management team) may bank its success on some change, it is not going to initiate change in some area without careful consideration unless it has already committed to it.

Wynne says Hydro rates an "Urgent" Issue
?Impact replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Agreed, in fact there have been many reasons for at least 2 election cycles. Time for the opposition to get their act together. -
Yes, just saw Argus's post that this should be separate. My immediate reaction is how long before this topic will degrade into a bash Islam one. Yes, evolution is about life adapting for its own survival (of the fittest). I'm not sure however the colour of the sky is that important, because the light that reaches us both directly on our skin and reflected in the world around is white (i.e. composed of many wavelengths). While some of the light that reaches us is the refracted light in the sky, the vast majority is the direct light from the sun. Depending on where on earth you are (forest, ocean, desert, arctic tundra, etc.) the majority of reflected light you see may be a different colour (green, turquoise, yellow, white, etc.). In the dense jungle, you might receive very little direct light. Yes, blue is a beautiful colour. The green we see around us is as well, and nothing beats the orange/red of a sunset except of course the elusive green flash (still waiting to see it myself). Your perception of colour is a personal preference, but yes many of us love a clear blue sky. I think that has more to do with the warmth of the sun we associate with it, something I am missing on this slightly overcast afternoon (with storm clouds predicted). Not sure who you are attributing those absurd claims to. Humans are only part of an evolutionary tree, and you have to look at the full tree to see how they adapted over hundreds of millions or billions of years. Humans have evolved to be able to adapt their environment to suit their need. We create artificial light where no natural light exists. Is there any record of long term human habitation in polar regions prior to the invention* of fire? Far more relevant is to look at the animals that are native to arctic regions like the arctic fox, hare, wolf, or the polar bear, harp seal, etc. and understand how they are better suited to the region. *invention, yes poor choice of words but just trying to use conventional phrases. The real issue is being able to harness fire for their own purposes. Either the ability to carry it around, and maintain it over a long period of time or ignite it using a spark from flint, heat from friction, etc. Note I left out refraction of sunlight because it wouldn't apply in the arctic night.
