  1. I'd like to see it.
  2. Oh I'm not. I check the numbers with more consternation than I did in April and May. Because the margin for a bad result is much lower. a 300 case now will feel much worse now than a 500 case day in May. What happens if we get a record breaking day? Do we shut down immediately? But two or three weeks of numbers like this, with a continued drop of active cases and hospitalizations will be very helpful to move on to Phase 3. With rates this low, contact tracing is possible. I was actually really worried when we got a 260 day this week until I found out it was mostly from Windsor-Essex and Migrant workers. So not really community spread.
  3. Damn Florida! Is this NBA Bubble thing even going to happen?
  4. LOL at Trump spiking the football on 5 million new jobs when most the country is seeing COVID numbers that'll send much of the country back into Lockdown.

Covid cases have risen, but deaths haven't.  Lockdowns aren't necessary, people just need to practice mitigation.  Oh, and nothing thousands of people protesting would help a lot too.  But, but, but, blame Trump!

Deaths will rise if Hospitals reach capacity. And even if people aren't dying, so many people getting sick will effect people financially. Especially if they don't have paid sick leave.

People don't really want to wear masks. And they seem to want to party indoors. Heck, people are going back to church.

I didn't blame Trump in this post. But he's said almost nothing about COVID-19 this week. But he comes out of his hole because of a good jobs report.

He doesn't have the critical thinking to consider that though re-opening so fast may have helped with jobs, it's also let the virus spread out of control in most of the country.

      That will have consequences.

So ?  Deaths will rise no matter what...even in Canada...oh my !

  5. Around 150 new cases each in the past two days. Almost all coming from Toronto, Peel and Windsor Essex. The Rest of the province is approaching 2 weeks in Phase two without a concerning spike. The better result is the number of active cases dropping to under 2,000 cases. Consider that compared to 5,000 plus new daily cases in many states in the US.
  6. It's going to be a depressing Fourth of July weekend down South. States like Texas and California are in a bad spot right now. Hospitalizations saturation will lead to a spike in deaths. I don't see an avenue out unless they go back to total Shutdown. And it doesn't seem they have the political appetite for that. https://www.texastribune.org/2020/07/02/texas-hospital-capacity-coronavirus/
  7. I'm not saying he does. I'm saying that the SDNY is licking its chops to indict him when he becomes a private citizen again.
  8. Micheal Cohen is in jail for things done under DT's direction.
  9. Actually. . . many places have put the brakes on re-opening. I debated this with BC2004 earlier. Though the death rate has dropped because: 1) The age of the infected is dropping. 2) Doctors are getting better at treating it. Hospitalization is the true metric of how the virus will cripple a region. And in the States that have had to put a pause on re-opening, Hospitalizations are hitting record levels. ICU saturation will eventually lead to a spike in deaths. Also, who cares if it's not killing people, it's making people sick and when you have 5k plus people in multiple states getting a virus every day, that's a huge chunk of the work force that "should" have to take a minimum 2 week vacation. How's that for the economy?
  10. Well actually now it's doing it amongst young people. BTW, note that the sparsity of cases in Canada is a testament to how the virus has been controlled up here. Ask someone in Florida or Texas if they know anyone who's got it?
  11. Rally was indoors. Protests were outdoors. Spikes in COVID-19 cases have not been seen in protest hot spots. There were also protests in Canada and around the world. America is currently the only first world nation with a exponential rise in cases. FREEDOM!!!
  12. The NHL will return in Edmonton and Toronto. All teams will go to Canada to finish the season to avoid the bleep show that is the US right now.

Then where is the spike in New York and DC?

The spike has more to do with people going to bars and the beach.

Toronto is the richest hockey club/town ever....go Leaf's go...NHL is not racist, you can beat the shit out of anyone as long as they are on the other team it's equal opportunity beatings....Whats going to be interesting is when BLM tries to interrupt a game, things could go off the rails....you can do a lot of things in Canada, but never screw with hockey night in Canada, the liquor store, or poggy checks....or shit will get real...

They'll create a bubble like the NBA is doing.

  13. That's just not going to happen. Especially with the low numbers we're seeing now. People work and live in different regions. If I work in one region and live in another, I can't buy anything when I go to work? Social Distancing and mask wearing in indoor public places seems to be working.
  14. That's totally not what happened. First he allowed everywhere except the GTA and Windsor to open. Then the next week he allowed everywhere but Toronto, Peel and Windsor to open. Then last Wednesday he allowed Toronto, Peel and most of Windsor to open. Have you been paying attention to the news? He's doing that with Mask mandates because he doesn't want to make a blanket law.
  15. We were discussing this before. You wanted there to be measures to ensure people couldn't travel to municipalities in different regions and receive services. But people are already doing that. Going up to the Cottage or Trailer. Going on Day Trips. You can't stop that. I don't see a measurable spike in cases due to people leaving Toronto for other communities. And now they're all open. So what's the issue? The test will be in a week from now. Has all this re-opening caused a huge spike. So far, so good. People are being responsible.
  16. Pubs are open across the Province. The only exception is Leamington where they have this Migrant worker outbreak. https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/ontario-to-allow-toronto-and-peel-region-to-enter-stage-2-this-week-1.4994146 https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/windsor/kingsville-leamington-stage1-needs-reopening-1.5633026 I was able to use a patio two weeks ago as well. Cities are partially closing streets so businesses can expand their patios or create ones. DoFo did nothing different than just about every leader in the developed world. Except the idiots in states like Florida, Texas, Arizona etc who've had to roll back opening plans because they allowed 20-somethings to party indoors.
  17. I think flare ups are going to happen. But with the case load so low now, Contract tracing and isolation is much easier then when it's multiple thousand new cases every day, not a couple hundred. The Kingston example is the only one I've heard of beyond the migrant workers situation in Leamington. I'm curious if these women were wearing masks or not. BTW Ottawa and Kingston both moved to Phase 2 at the same time. It was the GTA that was held back a week. Then Windsor, Toronto and Peel (Mississauga and Brampton) was held back a little longer after that. No one is in Phase 3 yet. I know the sentiment I have is to support local restaurants, not going elsewhere just because they're in a different phase. I suspect most deaths we see now are still a result of LTC outbreaks.
  18. Having your own Stooge leading the DOJ does wonders doesn't it?
  19. Those are nebulous charged. Micheal Cohen is serving prison time for things Trump instructed him to do. The case is pretty open and closed.
  20. . . . and a criminal conviction. LOCK HIM UP!!!
  21. I agree. I think Biden is just seen as the most pragmatic choice to beat Trump. Which is why Biden's Veep choice is very important.
  22. I suspect POTUS Biden won't be as nice. But that's what he'll be seen as, not a great POTUS, but someone who conned himself into the White House.
  23. Sure. It's not in his DNA to be contrite or humble. But if things don't change, come November he will be humbled at levels not seen since 1984. Will he go quietly into that good night? AND into an indictment by the SDNY.
  24. You can't get Lung Cancer from someone else though, except through second-hand smoke. Which is why most places now ban smoking in public. I agree that none of the economic issues are really Trump's fault. But he can't take credit for an economy he inherited and wash his hands of an economy that's in the dumpster. So we agree. However he's on record as constantly downplaying the virus. And his hypocritical bravado is damaging. Not wearing a mask in public sends the wrong message now. He can be cocky about it because everyone in his sphere is constantly being tested. Notice he's not blaming GOP governors for recent spikes like he did with Cuomo and Whitmer early on.
  25. Then the disease will continue to spread. Again this is thread drift beyond a larger Trump discussion on how this happen on his watch. But young people don't live in a bubble. They work/live with older people. Not to mention many young people have risk factors that make them more likely to succumb from the disease. This Herd Immunity ideology doesn't work without an extraordinary cost. And we don't even know if people with anti-bodies stop spreading the disease and/or are immune forever.
