  1. So then why have many states put the brakes on their re-opening if the disease doesn't kill as many people?
  2. There is evidence that the Protests didn't really effect the rate. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jun/18/anti-racism-protests-coronavirus-rise-covid-19-cases But I know you'll disregard them. But just as authorities didn't stop people from Protesting the Lockdown, little could be done to stop participating in BLM.
  3. Do people getting a knee replacement need an ICU bed? Regardless, if you go to the Hospital because of a car accident and it's full of COVID-19 patients your chances of dying increases. Even if the death rate doesn't go up in response to the rush of COVID-19 cases. The re-opening of these states has been put on hold. While in the rest of the developed world, the re-opening is going accordingly. What was the rush to get things opened if you have to go back inside after a month?
  4. Not the same, but comparable. The level of Hospitalization is going to drive deaths. And the more that get infected, the chances of people with risk factors will get the disease and have to go to the Hospital. And as Hospitals get overwhelmed, choices will have to be made about who lives and dies. And that doesn't speak to the level of sickness in a society. How will that effect the economy?
  5. So you're solely going to base it on Protests? Not young people ignoring Social Distancing recommendations. Even if it was the protests, it speaks to the idea that large public gatherings shouldn't be happening right now. You know, like trying to fit 20,000 people in a Political rally or 7,500 in a theatre at Mount Rushmore. It seems beaches and parks are probably places where people can socialize and not face a huge risk of the disease. Unlike bars, churches and indoor dining.
  6. Yes and the Curve was flatted. And in most Developed nations the rate has stayed low. Not so in the US. Rates are going up exponentially again. The only way to get control of the situation is another Shutdown.
  7. So the 10,000 plus people that are testing positive in Florida are all from LTC homes? Not young people partying?
  8. I would content the worst "sinner" is Ron DeSantis.
  9. Advice like Stay at home, wear a mask and stay 6 feet a part? Are GOP led states like Florida, Texas and Arizona not seeing a resurgence in COVID cases after quickly re-opening their economy?
  10. If you can blame the protestors, even though spikes have not been seen in New York State, Canada or any other country there were protests. Then you can also blame these morons. https://www.cnn.com/videos/us/2020/07/05/july-4-large-gatherings-coronavirus-fears-sot-vpx.cnn People in the US aren't wearing mask and Social Distancing, and they're getting COVID at a record pace now.
  11. Note that the re-opening has stalled in Florida, Texas and California. Hospitals in those states are reaching capacity. Death rate is a lag indicator.
  12. This debate is probably better for the Coronavirus thread. Hospitalization is up across the board. Trump's sin is to wash his hands of all things COVID.
  13. Yeah because younger people are getting it and now there are reliable treatments. But if the stat that 20% of people who get it need medical intervention is true then many states in the US will reach a point where people won't be able to get any medical treatment.
  14. I think the only country to botch COVID worse than the US is Brazil. Also led by an arrogant populist that minimized the threat of the disease at every opportunity. https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/07/americas/brazil-bolsonaro-positive-coronavirus-intl/index.html
  15. Watch what happens when Hospitals reach capacity. Already starting to happen in Florida.
  16. The only reason anyone objects to "covering up" is because it's seen as a religious mandate thrust upon women. Wearing skimpy clothes is usually a choice. Unless it's part of an employment obligation. I think that was debated here, years ago, regarding restaurants that made women dress sexy.
  17. The utter bleepshow that a majority of the US has become in the wake of a hasty and unthoughtful re-opening is evidence that the Shutdown and gradual re-opening was the prudent move. Every other country in the Developed World is handling the outbreak and slowly re-opening their economy. In these countries, when flare-ups happen they can be handled Even Italy, Spain and the UK who were thought of as hopeless quagmires of death in April are able to re-open their economy. The US is spiralling out of control. Hospitals will be saturated, and deaths will skyrocket. Americans really do walk the walk with the sentiment "Give me Freedom, or Give me Death." And if that lack of freedom means they can't go to a bar and have to wear a mask, they'd rather die.
  18. When thousands of Americans are dying and millions are getting sick. (and the rate is increasing, not decreasing) it's telling that statues are what Trump thinks he can get re-elected on. He has no ability to address the pandemic. And his tactic to turn the page is to sympathize with people who support the Confederacy. Shocking!
  19. He could stand trial for things that happened before being POTUS. Remember Stormy Daniels payoffs?
  20. The SDNY hate him to I reckon.
  21. To use your favourite term. So? Different POTUS, different crimes.
  22. That's not written in law. It's a DOJ opinion. Impeachment is the remedy. But we know that it's a completely political process and not a legal one. So the other remedy is charges once the POTUS leaves office.
  23. I was, did not hear that he was released. My bad. Does not change the fact that the only reason Trump wasn't also charged in his case was because the DOJ was providing cover. Should Biden get elected, that will change.
  24. Oh...good for him. He's still a convicted felon right? Was Trump not an un-indicted co-conspirator in his case?
  25. Is Micheal Cohen not currently serving time in Federal prison? Is that not a verifiable fact?
