  1. It's also not four weeks. We're four weeks clear of the vast majority of the protests and we're still seeing a record infection rate in certain states. You still haven't addressed the communities that did have protests and have not seen spikes. Look at all those people in masks!
  2. I cited a study, you completely ignored. Here's another article. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/no-covid-19-cases-connected-to-huge-vancouver-protests-against-anti-black-racism-1.5639883 I've cited places that didn't see a spike, Several places actually. But had Protests. I also noted that Social Distancing and Protests aren't mutually exclusive. And then there's Arizona. Where were the huge protests in Phoenix? They weren't any bigger than in New York or DC. Arizona now has the fourth highest case per million in the US. It's people gathering indoors that spread the virus. That's why Ontario is choking out the virus, people aren't gathering indoors without Social Distancing or wearing a mask.
  3. You haven't addressed other places that had protests and didn't see a spike. You ignore studies that say that protests didn't lead to spikes seen. AND, even if the protests were to blame, they haven't been an issue for more than a month. And the outbreak continues.
  4. Ditto. Texas' outbreak is endemic. To blame it on some protests is just an attempt to pass the blame on to others. And even if it was because of the protests. It's evidence that Social Distancing works, and people should be doing it and not going to large beach parties and indoor bars right now.
  5. Did you see them in New York and DC? Or Toronto. Or Europe! You think Miami, with a positivity rate approaching 30% is where it is only because they had BLM protests?
  6. Or Florida. Or Arizona. You could contend that this is all about protests. But I would contend it's more likely that people thought COVID-19 was behind them, so they got back to enjoying their lives like there was no virus going around. It's funny that some posters were using numbers in Florida, Texas and California as evidence that Canada's figures aren't that much better than the US. Back then the US numbers were slanted because of the New York and New Jersey. Now, not so much.
  7. I think there are two tactics at play here. In the US, they're like Eff It. We'll just let the virus take its course. Perhaps rates will just naturally fall and things will get back to normal. But in places like Canada and Europe, people are starving the virus of people to infect. It may actually just disappear. The problem is that the border is closed and people aren't travelling. Once people start to visit other countries, the virus can get a foothold again.
  8. Also note that Protests and Social Distancing aren't mutually exlusive. https://nowtoronto.com/news/no-pride-in-policing-coalition-toronto-rally-june-28/
  9. Gonna keep on with that? You've already conceded that people in these states, at large, aren't mitigating the spread of the disease. Minnesota, DC and New York all had notable protests. But no where near the spikes seen in Florida, Texas and Arizona. Did protests play a role. Sure. But so did going to bars and restaurants too early. That's why Many states are rolling back re-opening efforts. While places like Canada and Europe can now re-open with only a small fraction of the caseload.
  10. A lot of Americans have co-morbidities. Hospitals in the effected states are still filling up fast. So that ultimately will lead to more deaths. Unlikely to be the rate that New York saw in the Spring. But now that there's no appetite in the US for another Shutdown, the virus has free rein.
  11. So are the Spartans or Rangers. Braves and Chiefs get to stay for now. Redskins is particularly offensive. I'm wondering when the Ole Miss Running Rebels get targeted for a name change. My favourite name change was Syracuse Orangemen changing to just the Orange. I think it was because of the "men" part but I thought it was funny because Orangemen are Protestant militants.
  12. I see the new tactic is comparing death rate to countries in Europe and New York who were early to the COVID game and had no idea how to treat it. The US has a much lower death rate than those country. BUT but but, not since May. The difference is that all other developed nations have bent the curve and have low cases now. Because they took it seriously.
  13. And those people are getting very sick. And many cities haven't. There really isn't any enforcement mechanism to force people to wear a mask unless a business refuses service to someone not wearing a mask. That has resulted in some life ruining online temper tantrums by Anti-Maskers. https://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/20200713/man-in-viral-florida-costco-video-defends-himself-after-outburst-during-face-mask-argument
  14. The idea is that people have no alternative but to stay home if you mandate all business and parks close. It's already starting to happen in these states that are seeing historic rates of positivity.
  15. Again it's not about small groups that may be offended. When corporate groups feel the pressure, that's what ultimately effects change. I have never heard anyone say anything about an animal Sports name.
  16. Well that's the key right. People in the US feel that Social Distancing or "Mitigation" as you call it, infringes on their rights. So they do what they do and we see more cases in 2 days in the US than Canada has seen since the start of the Pandemic. In Ontario, we look to be headed into Phase 3 of re-opening. People don't see it as a hoax, and mask wearing didn't really need to be mandated. And cases are a fraction of what's being seen in the US. Slow and steady really wins the race. A million jobs also created in Canada in July. That's double, per capita from what Trump was spiking the football over.
  17. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/07/13/washington-redskins-officially-retire-name-and-logo-after-sponsor-backlash.html This has been hotly debated amongst sports fans for years now. The name is obviously racial slur. Many broadcasters had refused to utter the name, saying instead: "The Washington Football Team" or just "Washington". The owner didn't have to change the name so he didn't. The team makes money (even though they've largely been bad on the field) and there was no need to. . . Until corporate sponsors decided they wouldn't sell Redskin gear or do business with the team. FedEx had even threatened to pull it's sponsorship of the stadium they play in. Today, the team announced that the name will finally be changed. This is not cancel culture, this is corporate America deciding who they want to do business with and effecting change that way. Free Speech works in this instance. Will the Edmonton Eskimos follow suit?
  18. The MSM discussed the GOYA boycott stuff. I'm assuming that's what you're referencing.
  19. A couple of week isn't like a bad flu. Especially considering you shouldn't be around people for 2 weeks after getting COVID, healthy or not. What will that do to the work force the US is rushing back? And you're not considering the underlying conditions that make the disease worse. Not everyone in the 20-50 age bracket is perfectly healthy. So 99% is complete bunk. It just makes people believe that the virus isn't a threat, while Daily cases in the US got over 70,000 this weekend. When do we get to the 100,000 Dr Fauci predicted? It's out of control in the US and without another lockdown, I don't see it stopping anytime soon.
  20. I'm shocked you guys haven't jumped all over this. https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/pm-trudeau-s-mother-brother-and-wife-were-paid-to-speak-at-we-charity-events-1.5017697 The irony of getting paid that much, and giving that much taxpayer money (almost a billion) to promote volunteering is laughable. This is textbook corruption by the Trudeaus. Sadly with the country distracted by COVID and the Opposition without a leader, this probably won't effect him too much.
  21. https://www.healthline.com/health-news/black-lives-matter-protests-didnt-contribute-to-covid19-surge https://www.nber.org/papers/w27408 https://www.nber.org/papers/w27408 Yes I know, Fake News!!!!!
  22. Hillary never had this big a lead. And the Democrats seemed more complacent on the states that brought Trump the victory. I'll give Trump's team credit. They identified the exact communities they needed to target to win in the battleground states they needed. Now Trump is losing in states he carried comfortably in 2016.
  23. So you're not basing your opinion on anything factual.
  24. Current Battleground State polling does not indicate that. https://www.forbes.com/sites/andrewsolender/2020/06/25/nearly-20-swing-state-polls-were-released-todaybiden-leads-in-all-of-them/#4906b0197594
  25. Well this is the Trump thread.
