Before Canadians start going bankrupt by the thousands, it’s time for Canada to end all carbon taxes, stop spending money funding endless war in Ukraine, and pull out of international agreements that are hemorrhaging more money from taxpayers and adding to both our debt and inflation. Turn off the shrill climate scare. Build the pipelines. We need more oil for energy security and the affordability of essentials like heating, transportation, and, manufacturing.2 points

1. You are answering your own question here: you will feel good when Republicans win, but especially because after Trump is exposed for what he is nobody will be able to claim 'stolen election' casually ever again. You are welcome. 2. Oh you mean Hunter Biden's buddy ? You are the kind of person who thinks Pro Wrestling is real... ?2 points

Police performance was under heavy criticism in that tragedy, so how do people think a few teachers are supposed to do better ? It seems like a dumb alternative to the obvious - which is to enact background checks and controls.2 points

Ya, anyone not of the Trump cult is a Democrat. SCJ's are not supposed to be loyal to anyone but you would think that if the cases had any merit, a least they would have decided to hear them.2 points

And when the democrats lose the midterms, no doubt they will be crying foul and that the election was rigged for the Republicans too win. i can't wait to see that happen when it does. I just don't get this show trial at all. This charade of a farce hearing is bound for failure. Do these democrats think that when it is all over that they will be able to now throw Trump in jail? What an f'kn effort of wasting time and wasting taxpayer's tax dollars. This kinda reminds me of our own dumb ass Marxist leader in Canada who always enjoys blowing taxpayer's tax dollars on himself, and his many Marxist buddies, and for their Marxist programs and agendas. ?2 points

Blackbird, I approach this question from a completely different way. The "environment" is a common resource. Example: Your neighbour imposes a cost but you can't stop her. Well, you can move to a different neighbourhood. I can't move to a different planet. ===== I entirely agree that the Left has taken over this issue. Watermelons: Green on the outside but left inside. And with the Left, it is always about "control".1 point

She will go down in history as a real Republican who resisted its conversion to the Trump party and refused to join the cult. When I would go to a grocery store I would not bring any cotton or other like material to put my groceries in. I would always use, or now today, I have to buy and pay 5 cents for one of their grocery plastic bags because they have been great for me to use to dump my household garbage in. I have been stocking up on those plastic bags for years now because I knew that one day those plastic grocery bags will soon be stopped and used altogether by grocery stores. Walmart now stops using plastic grocery bags. Indeed. China and India being the two countries that contribute plastic waste into the oceans and onto their garbage land dumps. But ask those two countries if they really give a crap about plastic damage to the environment. It's always we the people in the west that have to always suffer and deal with plastic pollution because of what those two countries are doing to the planet. Maybe if they stopped having so many dam children plastic pollution would not be a big problem all that much today. It is those two countries with the biggest populations whom are responsible for all of this plastic pollution with their baby making problems. Canadians are doing their fair share and as much as they can to fight plastic pollution but we do not need to have to suffer for it because of those third world countries. ?1 point

There are five parties in the House of Commons. You can choose between the landed class (CPC), the merchant class (Grits), the socialists (NDP), the Bloc or the Greens. That is a pretty wide range of choices. You can also take a flyer on the PPC. If communism is your thing, you have a choice of two parties, the Marxist- Leninists, or the Maoists. Then there are Tamara Lich's Maverick Party, the Christian Heritage Party Canada, the Canadian Nationalist Party (although their leader is facing charges of assault), the Social Credit Party (aka the Reform Party), the Saskatchewan Party, the Ontario Party, and my own party, the Progressive Conservative party (Tories). So, I don't see how you can say you don't have a choice. If your party doesn't do well, it is because their platform is not popular or the members did not work hard enough to make voters aware of the platform and secure the vote. Or, if you prefer, there are Independents . Jodi Wilson Raybould won re-election as an independent.1 point

this situation is far beyond the scope of just Canada for the last 30 years, since the 90's the entire global market has been cutting taxes while printing money at the same time offshoring the inflation temporarily, by sending it to China since 2008, there has been both monetary stimulus ( printing money ) & fiscal stimulus ( government spending ) so now the entire world has massive debt and inflation so the whole thing is going to crash at once because its all coming home to roost now the entire world will be forced to remove money from the system ( raise interest rates ) while raising taxes this will inevitably cause a correction of truly historic proportions like the Great Depression might not be a technical depression as in net negative price & wage spiral but it will be on the same scale as the Great Depression a global fiscal & economic crisis, a massive secular bear market correction, even if not technically net negative and this will change the politics, by forcing change upon the culture itself upstream from the politics1 point

QE as a vehicle for monetary stimulus was pretty new in the 2009 recession, owing to the fact that they really couldn't lower the overnight rate any further than it already was. Beyond that, they had to find other ways to maintain market liquidity, so they start a large-scale purchasing of bonds and other financial instruments from the financial institutions etc. I oversimplify but the TLDR is that the central banks aren't actually just printing money out of thin air and giving it to their friends like some of the geniuses here think. The QE from the last recession was mostly tapered off. This is an interesting summary of policy decisions relating to it: https://www.yardeni.com/chronology-of-feds-quantitative-easing/1 point

I did post a link earlier about the CO2 emissions from the shipping industry vs those from ICE cars. Here's another one. The 16 biggest ships produce more pollution than all the cars in the World | LNG Transfer I'm wondering why they are focusing almost totally on ICE car owners and doing little or nothing about shipping. Maybe it's the usual thing, go after the low hanging fruit approach. Fighting alleged man made global warming might be done in a smarter way than just going after cars. If the 16 biggest ships in the world produce more emissions than ALL THE CARS IN THE WORLD, surely it would be smarter to refit a relative handful of ships for a fraction of the cost and go nuclear. Point taken. Maybe it's to many on this forum, "liberal" is regarded as a swear word. I can be forgiven if I thought you were one of them. But I'll ask, why do highly socialized (and liberal) countries such as in western Europe, Scandinavia and Japan not have these issues to the same degree? Canada certainly has those issues but with the possible exception of a drug overdose crisis, not to the same degree, while Americans regard Canada to be extremely liberal. We only disagree on the use of the word liberal, we do agree that it's about supporting people instead of jailing them. Not just marriage counselling but giving them the good education and other opportunities to be successful in life. Marriages break down for many reasons, not the least of which is financial stress. Unfortunately, supporting people and education isn't big business like the prison and legal systems. The US spends over 80 billion every year keeping people in jail and over 100 billion to put them there. Many American police institutions need reform but defunding them can't even be considered until those supports are in place and functioning. Other than watching some of CNN's specials that have nothing to do with politics, I don't watch US cable news. CNN, FOX, any of them.1 point

I agree with this completely. Plastic is the scourge of the oceans. There's little to nothing we can do to alter climate change, but this we can fix. Plastics are everywhere. Even in our food. Its gross and unnecessary. Oh and...bottled water is an insult in Canada.1 point

1. Mea culpa - I do find conspiracy theories to be fun to poke at, the equivalent of popping bubble wrap on here BUT your response overstated my criticism of the refrain that climate change response is bankrupting us. The costs and remediations have been estimated in the single digits as % of GDP in past studies. 2 I'm sorry that you are not used to reading informed opposition to your opinions. Next time read your posts to your pet parrot and she will squawk agreement to make you feel better 3. Agreed and thanks for the compliment. I sure don't feel that I am "smart" which is why I am on here trying to learn from other posters, such as yourself. 4. Since its a global count, that doesn't mean much. Also, a few years isn't long enough to get a measure of the impact. And finally, you are incorrect as emissions lowered in 2020. https://www.iea.org/news/after-steep-drop-in-early-2020-global-carbon-dioxide-emissions-have-rebounded-strongly 5. Maybe, maybe not. I have read the opposite but if you have a cite then ok. https://www.autoserviceworld.com/the-significant-impact-gas-prices-will-have-on-driving/ 6. Yes and other events are impacting that a lot more than an 11 cent per litre tax on gas. I'm not a millionaire but I live in a city so I don't drive so much and the carbon credit pays for the additional tax for this working class family. 7. I am more than willing to listen to arguments that are backed up, in this case with some math. From everything I read the initial inflation and shortages came from global supply chain situation... we are now dealing with labour shortages, gas shortages and the situation is dire. If you think spending $2/litre vs $2.11/litre will fix everything than ok. 8. This criticism is valid. I believe the Conservative Party campaigned on creating a direct carbon credit system of some kind - maybe that's more to your liking IDK.1 point

Hi Michael, Yes you are correct, whew. I know. It is so difficult to touch on this without inviting a harsh response. I have attempted to use only facts, which is why I included the sources. Also, I have walked miles in those shoes. I have been homeless. I have lived in poverty, and all of the negatives that come with it. I have experienced much, but through the help of the people I mentioned have been able to pull myself out of the hole of poverty, homelessness, and addiction. In fact, I have prospered and frankly I am on the high end of middle class, retired about 15 years early. This is all do to the people who cared for me, and have me values. As I mentioned, these people are black and I am eternally grateful to them for their wisdom and caring. They saved my life. Imposed cultural change and how does this get done? It is so easy to solve the worlds problems as an armchair leader. I really don't have the answers, but I do have a couple of suggestions based on my own experiences. The foster system is broken. There is no owner of a business that would tell you that with employees scattered all over with very little supervision, and in some cases with motives of their own, that this is a recipe for success. In fact, this scenario is exactly how a business can fail. Having been in the system I can tell you that our avoidance of the word orphanage or children's home, especially in a state funded program (DCF) is something we have to get over. The terrible conditions and abuses of the past are over. Children in need of assistance not found at home would be better served in a more institutional setting. Every service possible, physical and mental therapies, education, exposure to a clean and productive lifestyle, could be provided to these deprived children. Through the current system, as a ward of the state I can tell you that with one exception, a foster home was not a home. In my experience I was subject to both physical and psychological abuse. I was used as labor. I was also there to pay the mortgage. No money was spent on me for new clothes, the occasional outing, or anything like that. The system is broken. The only way to control the quality of education, therapies, nutrition, and peace of these children is in a concentrated environment in which all of these and more are available to help them succeed. I mention this because it brings me to a thought about what might be done to assist what are called "underserved communities". Again, lots to think about, as well as treading a line between assistance and socialism. Bearing in mind the expense of welfare, $70,000 per year for an inmate, the level of frustration that causes people to burn their own neighborhoods, and having lived in a broken system I suggest something else. We have to try not to make this socialism, but what if there was no welfare or wic? What if instead underserved communities had large community centers to provide the resources needed for families? What if as an example a single mother struggling, and definitely not in a position to work for advancement was pulled out of the workforce? What if as a CNA, (Certified Nurses Assistant - They make $10.00 - $12.00/hr in most settings) she was offered childcare while she pursued a degree that would enable her to become a nurse as an example. What if her children were in a stable environment with everything needed for health end education while she earns her degree? What if following her achievement of attaining the degree she was assisted with job placement? Is it possible that her children may grow up with different values and perspectives as well as now being well educated. Might they follow their mother's example of achievement? How about someone in the community that does not want higher education, but would rather have a trade? Again, the center could provide whatever resources are needed for the children while at the same time training their parent in a trade. That training, those apprenticeships could be used in the community as urban renewal. As an example, if there is a home that needs paint, teach the student how to paint it. If a sidewalk is in disrepair, teach the student how to repair it through masonry. If a local business could use some facility improvement, teach the student how to make those improvements. If urban renewal was used to provide income and training, might those that live in the community be more protective of it. They may have more pride in where they live. Is it possible that residents of an improved community might not not allow the criminals that occupy that area to thrive? Might the drug dealers have no place on the streets? Giving money for the purchase of food (WIC) is a noble thought, but have you ever shopped in the stores that are available in an underserved community? I can assure you it is nothing like Whole Foods or Trader Joes. The produce is sometimes on the shelves just before it goes bad. I have purchased produce in these stores only to see it starting to rot the next day. Healthy alternatives are scarce. Drinks are extremely high in sugar. There are prepared foods that are very high in salt. Whatever the offense, the food is not healthy. Might it be better to have a store in the community center with the proper quality and healthy options? There could be prepared foods as well, just as there are in some of the better grocery chains. How much could quality meals positively affect the health of those in underserved communities? Basically, instead of giving money to buy the junk that is available, just provide really good food. For families, could there be some counseling to help keep parents together? Could there be parenting classes when needed? Think about it. If the parents and children in underserved communities were nurtured in this way, might less of the population be destined for jail, but rather contribute and build the American Dream for themselves. We can provide all of the resources to support families and provide them the highest level of nutrition, education, and if needed support to help overcome addictions, violence, and crime. If we were able to divert the majority of the population that might otherwise be imprisoned, and give them the opportunity to have a better life, it is a win win. To reduce the expense of housing inmates, hospital bills for treatment related to addictions or poor quality of nutrition, the cost of law enforcement, the cost and burden on the legal system, as well as the payment of benefits for the greater portion of some people's lives, we must think about funding a program such as this as an alternative. That is not to mention the added benefit to our country as a result of urban renewal and a larger workforce. I may be way off, but to your point, there is no race that should attempt or be required to have cultural change. Simply, and we all know it, the systems currently in place allow people to stay in place. They do nothing to uplift and support a community. They support an individual, but not very well, and not in a manner that improves the quality of life. I am suggesting that we can do much better than the way we currently use our resources.1 point

Hard not to be brutally cynical when we see how scary stories are used to extort money and power from citizens. Climate change is the best. Can’t quantify the human impact. Can’t tell if we’re in a natural warming period. Use the fear to pay for expensive “green tech” that doesn’t generate much power but looks techy and green. That’s all Canada’s climate action plan does, add to the cost of living so we can put up Potemkin green facades and piss in the wind. Meanwhile everyone gets poorer.1 point

Yes, the carbon tax is a flat rate. In B.C. the rebate is based on one's income. So most of the rebates go to very low income people. People that make or earn more than the specified amount, receive a very small rebate. That's the NDP policy. It's a kind of Communist system of wealth redistribution cloaked under a mask of fighting climate change. That's why they like the carbon tax system.1 point

1. Not just any idiot. The Club of Rome was instrumental in the development of the WEF. The UN has adopted the sustainable development agenda. Western nations have signed on to the Paris Accord. The Bible is the written revelation from God to mankind. That is the way God chose to reveal his revelation. Perhaps if you studied the Bible, the answer to your question might come to you more clearly. But you prefer the answer given to you on a silver platter. That's not how it works. The truth is there. It's up to you to read it. As for Jesus, the New Testament gospels are an account of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection on earth. He was seen by many eyewitnesses after the resurrection. There is no need for people outside the biblical writers to give that account. Also, Israel was destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D. and probably almost everything written down was destroyed. The early Christians were also outside that area in the first century and the writers of the N.T. survived the Roman destruction in 70A.D. He also performed many miracles which are recorded in the gospels, proving he is who he said he was and proving he is God. 1 Corinthians ch2 explains a little of what we are talking about. quote 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. {judgeth: or, discerneth} {judged: or, discerned} 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. Unquote 1 Corinthians 2:11-16 KJV You may gather from this that before someone can make any sense of the Bible or believe it, one must have a degree of an open mind or a willingness to learn about what it is saying. Ask God to open your mind. That is about all I can suggest.0 points
