I think what he means is this pandemic is a Canadian problem, one that will require action and sacrifices from all of us if we are to overcome it... whether we are just starting out in life or coming to the end of our life's cycle .....2 points

There is no dignity in dying. Most seniors do not suffer from dementia. If you mind your manners and avoid ticking off your elders, you may be lucky enough to live to be 90. My Great Uncle Jack lived to be 104. I have a photo of him giving a speech in top hat and tails when he was 100. I see Captain Sir Tom Moore raising lots of money for the healthcare system. If you are unfortuate enough to be " 90 and living in a home, demented," we can talk and you can tell me what you would give to have a few more years, days or even minutes of life. It is not right to be cavalier about someone else's life. It is too precious, especially when it is your own.2 points

Remember that Trudeau made her GG despite being charged with assault of her ex husband by Maryland police (the charges were later dropped). She was appointed largely because once again Trudeau insisted on a woman, and it had to be a francophone who was bilingual. That limited the choice, obviously. She joins Michaelle Jean, Adrian Clarkson and Jeanne Sauve as female GGs who were miserable failures, probably because they weren't appointed for any reason but identity politics. Romeo Leblanc was dull as dishwater. The two good ones we've had of late were the Tory appointees, Daniel Johnson and Ray Hnatyshyn. "This has gone from being one of the most collegial and enjoyable work environments for many of the staff to being a house of horrors," said one government source. "It's bullying and harassment at its worst." CBC News spoke to a dozen sources with direct knowledge of the office during Payette's mandate. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because they feared they could lose their jobs or their careers could suffer. Many of the sources are still in the public service, while others are former Rideau Hall employees. The sources say Payette has yelled at, belittled and publicly humiliated employees. They accuse her of throwing tantrums in the office and, on one occasion, tossing an employee's work aside and calling it "shit." On a single day, multiple people were seen leaving Payette's office with tears in their eyes after private meetings with the Governor General, said one source. In another instance, a staff member was spotted crying in their car. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/gov-gen-payette-created-toxic-210214781.html1 point

I don't understand how it would make you depressed. Didnt mean it to. In fact the opposite. I've seen people wither and die a little each day, to a point none of us would ever want to be. If you've seen it you will know what I mean. The question was whether or not a person can die with dignity. QM says no. I strongly disagree. So maybe QM hasn't seen what I've seen, and lived a lucky life. Good for him. I see no reason to feel sorry or depressed about that. - I better relate it back to the topic. Sorry boss.1 point

He divided it into angry camps. He presented himself as the shining hope of the downtrodden, ignored, desperate people of middle-America, then laughed, kicked sand in their faces, and walked away. He said he was going to 'clean up the swamp' then made it deeper and more noxious. He weakened his country in the face of its enemies. Want me to keep going?1 point

They are student athletes....about 450,000 each year compete in NCAA divisions for many sports...including many students from other nations like....Canada. I was an NCAA student athlete for track and field plus match pistol/rifle, with no expectation of going "pro", like the vast majority of NCAA participants. Volleyball is now a net positive revenue generator for many schools.1 point

If the GG has any integrity whatsoever - which I am seriously beginning to doubt - she would take the high road and resign her position. I doubt being fired by the Queen would look good on her resume'. That said, considering the obvious lack of thorough vetting that went into the choice of Payette, I have little hope that the liberals will actually chose someone ably suited for the position.1 point

WOW, good pep talk coach , shit even I'm depressed now...Somehow i think you missed Queens message... Just curious where is the line in the sand for you, while fighting this virus.1 point

An argument can be made that the extreme heat seen in the Southern US if effectively like Winter. Most people, especially those at risk of death from COVID-19 spend their time inside being cooled by AC. I think the best course of action is to reduce the level of infection as much as you can. Perhaps many will take up Skiing this winter instead of playing hockey in a stuffy arena.1 point

To those who point out that it is the elderly and chronically ill that die, you should know that if you are really lucky, maybe you too will live to be elderly. I am a senior but I am not a demographic. I am a tax-paying citizen. If I can avoid people who fail to take precautions, my chances, based on family history and lifestyle, give me reason to believe I will live and contribute to the country for another thirty years. It is only a demographic when it isn't about you.1 point

If the looney left media could bury the mega BILLION$$ scandals of SNC and Bombardier so easily, WE is a walk in the park.1 point

Trudeau won't do it and she won't resign. She won't give up the salary and most of all the big fat pension that comes with it... this is something that needs to be stopped, why should a GG get a big fat pension of $143K a year after 4 years1 point

One would assume, that the vetting would be done on this side by Justins staff, before he signed off and made the recommendation to the Queen.1 point

Justin recommended her to the Queen, and the Queen approved the recommendation as if Justin choice was going to be questioned by the Queen. The blame is to rest with Justin and his minions no one else....To even suggest this is the Queens fault is short sighted.1 point

She was chosen because she has a vagina, is bilingual, and was an astronaut which apparently Canadians make a big deal about. Apparently nobody cared to check if she was bat-sh!t crazy.1 point
-
Yet she appears even worse than those, in terms of behaviour. It should fall back on the Prime Minister for appointing her anyway despite improper vetting, overlooking her obvious flaws in lieu of the political imagery she provides. It should, but won't.1 point
