  1. Trump is right...Trudeau is a two-faced NATO deadbeat.

  2. This is a guy who cannot help trying to be the center of attention, the cool-kid. He used to fall down stairs just to get people to look at him. Then he progressed into stupid dress up games, including black face. On the world stage, he's still a teenager craving the approval of others. And the way you do that when you're a callow boy is you mock and deride someone who isn't part of the 'in group', someone the 'in-group' doesn't much like. That was what he was doing the other day within a short distance of cameras, mouthing off to gain approval from others. It's not something a mature man would do. But no one has ever appended that adjective to him. As Matt Gurney points out, until the moron in the white house is gone Canada's government's job is to not provoke him. He's a vindictive sociopath who loves nothing more than 'getting back at' anyone who does him wrong in word or deed. Which means Trump is going to seek a way to punish Trudeau - which means punishing Canada. Clear enough to the president, at any rate. On Wednesday morning, during a press event, the president called Trudeau “two-faced,” and said though he thinks the PM is nice guy, “I called him out on the fact that he’s not paying two per cent (of GDP on defence, as Canada has promised) and I guess he’s not very happy about it.” The president added, “I can imagine he’s not that happy, but that’s the way it is.” He then announced he’d be leaving the summit early, skipping the concluding events he’d originally been expected to join. Again, this incident in itself isn’t the end of the world. Trudeau got caught mouthing off, the president chided him. Not really the finest moment for either leader. But whereas in any other moment of history, you’d expect this to be the end of it, with Trump, you can’t make that bet. And Canada is currently counting on the U.S. to be in our corner. We’ve counted on that for generations — Canadian over-reliance on the U.S. for national defence is a long-standing problem (this was the topic of my column in that long-ago era of … uh … this past Saturday). But right now in particular, we need to keep our relationship with Washington strong. The NAFTA successor is very, very close to being passed — and our economy needs that access to U.S. markets. Trump could easily throw a wrench or two into the final remaining steps if he was so inclined. Canada is counting on American diplomatic support in our ongoing dispute with China. Trump’s co-operation there cannot be counted on at the best of times, and certainly not after the PM gratuitously thumbs his nose at him. And then, of course, there is the extremely awkward truth that Trump is, on this issue, fundamentally right. His grasp of how NATO actually works seems as wrong as ever, but on the core principle of the matter — Canada massively under-invests in the military, even though we are among NATO’s richer countries — is spot on. No Canadian PM likes being reminded of this, mainly because it’s true. https://nationalpost.com/opinion/matt-gurney-this-completely-unforced-error-isnt-out-of-character-for-trudeau?video_autoplay=true

  3. DND reports 8 Bil in unspent funding last year , yes you read that right 8 Bil of unspent funding...One of the many 2015 campaign promises was the liberals were going to fix our purchasing system, stream line it to make it more efficient..4 years later we can't even spend the allotted money.... a couple points here, Justin lied again, OK by now this is not news any more....he lies about everything, but thats ok lying is a Canadian thing ..it's perfectly OK for our nations leader to lie his ass off not only to us , but to the entire world....second point WTF is the CDS doing, why is this even happening, heads should be on a plate, you don't turn in Bils of dollars in a cash strap organization...another reason to fire the current CDS...even the minister of Defense, get rid of them all, perhaps lower the defense budget until someone puts on the big boy pants and can find a way to not only spend DND budget , but mange to purchase much needed equipment.... Perhaps dougie is right time to shut this shit show down, the Majority of Canadians don't care, shit even the CDS the top military official does not seem to give a shit....

  4. I happened to look up Singapore because it was mentioned in another topic. Singapore has a population of just over 5.5 million. Singapore has a larger military(72,000 vs 60,000), a far, far, far larger reserve (1.3 million vs 30,000), and is better equipped than the Canadian military. It's already taken possession of it's first F35s, for example and has put its first 6 stealth frigates into service. Tell me again how Canada can't afford to spend 2%...

  5. Acting like a smartass by talking about Trump behind his back is also childish. Adults tend to just ignore childishness.

  6. Exactly. Trump acting like a child isn’t something new, it’s pretty much an established thing by now. Nothing needs to be proved.

  7. Yes but everyone knows he is that. Why put our standing at risk to appear cool to a bunch of Europeans?

  9. No. That is a defective analogy. I was not taught to believe all Germans were Nazis only that Nazis were and why others became Nazi supporters but I do not and have never been taught all Germans were Nazis. This would be an insult to the German righteous gentiles who died with my relatives and hid Jews. It would be an insult to all gentiles in Germany who fought the Nazis. Its an insult to Jehova's Witnesses and 7th Day Adventists and Catholics betrayed by Pope Pius to name a few Germans in Germany. Its an insult to Socialists, communists, lanour union leaders who the Nazis sent to camps and killed. I don't like generalizations that encourage hatred. I like people to take the time to explain what it is they challenge and not take intellectual short cuts. Maroc is selective as to what he sees. So are some when discussing Muslims. Muslim extremists should be distinguished from Muslim people in discussions. If we do not make that effort we are no better than Muslim terrorists and Maroc and that is what they want.

  10. It is true from any point of view. Canada's minions have been parked in the USA for years trying to out-flank Trump on trade...now they are begging the Americans to ratify NAFTA 2.0 before Trump turns Canada's world upside down...again. At the moment, Democrats are more interested in Trump's impeachment than trade with Canada. It's not like Canada has a lot of other choices.

  12. The preoccupation some of you have with manginas and vaginises needs to stop. Move on then boys. No one's asking you to park it in their driveway. Just drive on by and go find where you want to park. Plenty of places.

  13. That's the best part....laughing at Trump while fearing what he may do to NATO and their economies. Trudeau still has to go begging to Trump for help on several "files".

  14. I think you mean Trudeau mocking Trump. But it really doesn't matter...the whole world knows that Trump is more important than Trudeau.

  15. Then stop worrying so much about what happens with voters in "Trump states". Trump is playing with house money.

  16. Well... my interest in these culture wars is that we are seeing competing ideologies that are mutually intolerant. On the one hand we have folks like you who see racists and white supremacists everywhere... I believe you identified me as such... so I'm not making an ad-hominem here. On the other hand you have these folks who basically go full hog racist... and prepare themselves to fight the apocalypse.... also a form of LARPing... but a more dangerous type. Y'all are two sides of the same coin. And the more you foment your ball snipping vendetta to target white supremacists wherever you can find them and castrate them... the more you pour fuel on the fire of this phenomenon. That's what I'm saying.

  19. Even the son of Hamas says there is an Islamic problem https://www.dailywire.com/news/son-hamas-calls-out-obama-political-correctness-robert-kraychik We cannot fool ourselves. There is an Islamic problem. Al-Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, ISIS, Boko Haram, all of them are killing by the name of Allah. They’re not killing by the name of Jesus. They’re not killing by the name of Jehovah. They’re not killing by the name of Mahavira, or the Buddha, or Lao Tzu,” said Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of a religious leader of Hamas.

  22. They have already done that in Afghanistan, and it did get a hit on the media for a couple of weeks, it was not until enough soldiers died that new equipment started to arrive, things like armored jeeps " or so they said" but once the ambassador got blown up in the new jeeps things changed again, armored vehs and later even tanks...old Leo Ia4 with new ceramic armor...only 70 tech, but it was better than fake jeeps...but no air conditioning temps would reach 70 plus degrees inside the tank, guys would pass out due to heat exhaustion... but hey whats a few 45 ton tanks going off the road every once in a while....and once again they went scrambling to buy new equipment we should have had before..... the new LEOIIA6M arrived the biggest dude on the block, 75 tons plus of pure killing machine....but we only bought 20 of them.. we loved them, but you can't have happy grunts right....

  24. I was reading an article last night about violence against women (the Polytechnique massacre anniversary is coming up). I won't post the article unless someone asks because it's not really pertinent to this topic, but it made some interesting points about the misogyny that is a threat to half the world's population and says that we must start calling it what it is - terrorism. The article made points that apply equally well to how we view Islamic terrorism and ideology. The public at the time (1989) was encouraged to think about the killings not with anger and protest, but with "reflection and silence" - much the same as we are told to think about Islamic massacres. Definitely dont' talk about it. We are starting now to recognize these massacres of women for what they are - extremist acts, hate crimes against an identifiable group - women. Up til recently the connection between extremism and misogyny has been mostly overlooked in studies and in the law. The author suggests we start looking at misogyny for what it is - an ideology that is deadly to half the population. Of course, we recognize Islamic extremism as a deadly ideology but we refuse to look at its roots. Like crimes against women, we have to stop looking at Islamic extremism as crimes of an individual and see it for what it is - the consequences of an interconnected and poisonous ideology. These violent acts of religious extremism are intended to be sequential - one killer drawing inspiration from another, drawing inspiration from an ideology that is already full of misogyny and hatred of others. Misogyny and hatred are the core ideologies that bind almost all forms of Islam together. More than that, they are world views, not individual attitudes. That is very different.

  25. I am claiming that you are making a huge deal about world leaders joking about Trump, when it's a complete nothing burger that shouldn't be taken seriously. Yet more evidence of you grasping at straws to attack Trump by getting all hyper serious about it and massively inflating it's importance.

  30. Maybe there should be no political party's anymore. Everyone running will be an independent candidate where they do not have to kiss a leaders butt. A leader of a political party always gets the last word. A candidate can say that they believe in conservative principles or another candidate could say that they believe in socialism. Maybe this is what democracy should be all about. Many people say that they vote for the person and not the party. But that one person cannot dictate to the rest of the party that this is what I want done. The party leader gets the last say. Independents can fight for their beliefs alone or they can join together with other independents on some political issue. Sounds good to me, but will it work? You tell me?
