  1. Liberal's making friends every where they go.....This does not surprise me , Canada can not even look after it's own soldiers.....but to take this stand on the inter national stage is stupid for the lack of a better word. I mean here was an opportunity to show some compassion, to the world for mere crumbs to our full annual Budget....and yet the liberals who have spent 30 bil in a blink of an eye has said NO to the small compensation of the gurkha guards at our own embassy....I wonder who is guarding the gates now... more an likely the locals, as they would be the cheapest bidder.....Wonder i secure the embassy is now.... http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/kabul-canada-gurkhas-1.4019840

  2. What a silly thing to say, Skype? Lol. Right that will prove who you are, Lol. Skype? Lol. How does a "young woman" such as you pose as you do? You have made a point of providing avatars showing you as a young attractive female in Western attire. You don't cover yourself. So please, explain how you pick and chose the clothing style and hair cut and lipstick you want, when your fellow Muslim women can not? That's the issue. You can come on the forum posing as a modern Westernized young woman but the way you dress would get your life threatened in an ISIS controlled area or in Iran or in Saudia Arabia or do you deny that? Tell me Altai, do you not think I have witnessed the results of a young woman with your image after her father and brothers and uncles quoting sharia law have beaten the pulp out of her? You think that has not happened? Do you want me to put up pictures of mutilated women who were killed and permanently scarred in the name of Sharia law? Well? You think I haven't seen genitally mutilated young girls, girls beaten silly for dating a non Muslim and not covering themselves in Ontario family courts? How about you get yourself on a plane and come see. Skype my ass. Let's talk reality. Domestic violence. Vengance killings, abuse, physical beatings, incest, rape, men raping boys in broad day light in Afghanistan in such frequency that you are damn right I have sit and listened to Canadian soldiers coming home try drink themselves to oblivion to try get it out of their heads. What world do you live in Altai because the one I live in won't be denied by you presenting your alleged self on skype. Who do you pose as Altai? Hmmm? Please explain.. How do you claim to be a free woman, a supposed Westernized, modern young Muslim and deny what sharia law says about women? Do explain Altai because posing on Skype won' answer that. That was my point. My point is to challenge your very claim of who you pose as and to challenge you to look at what is happening to women in the Muslim world if you claim to be one. It has nothing to do with Skype and everything to do with those portions of sharia law you won't acknowledge or discuss. You parrot what some man has told you. Your body, your mind, they just parrot what you have been told to say. Is that not so? How do you as a young woman if you are one explain what your religion says about women? You refuse to answer that. Answer it. Explain how you reconcile being a modern woman with the values you try preach to others because from where I sit, you sugar coat slavery, sexism. tyranny, fascism.

  3. Of course I am not ruled by Sharia law. I live in Ontario Canada. The laws that I abide by and follow are the municipal laws of Mississauga, Ontario, the provincial laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada. That's it. Next I am a Canadian. So giggle tee hee but I am not Israeli. More to the point anyone can claim anything on this forum like you claiming to be Turkish or female. It means nothing. On forums one's identity as you have shown can be hidden and they can make any ridiculous comment or pose as anyone they want to. Right Omar is it? Or is it Muhammed? Abdul? Farouk? Gamel? Yasir? Wait don't tell me Mujibar? Barak? Sirhan? Next you have an offer that you will prove me a liar but first I most promise everyone I will leave the forum if you prove I am a liar. Tee hee. That is illogical. You have already stated I am a liar. Tee hee because I am Israeli hee hee. So if I am a liar even though I will promise to leave I won't really leave tee hee giggle giggle? Is that the stupid childish banter you want me to respond with? You want to prove me a "liar "or anyone else stop acting like a child with your idiotic challenges. Spit it out. This is a forum. Please do not write me such childish posts. If you have something to debate, debate it. If you have something to say, say it. You want to prove me a " liar ", go ahead and stop sounding like someone in elementary school, take what I have written and prove it wrong. Go on. Put up or shut up but please stop speaking to me like a child. I have expressed my opinions. You don't agree with them say why. Stop calling me a liar because I disagree with you. The fact people disagree with you does not make them liars. Your subjective opinions as to Sharia law and Islam are just that-they are not infallible facts-they are subjective opinions, no more, no less. You speak for yourself, no one else whether they be Muslim or non Muslim. Now put up or shut up. Take what I have said and challenge it and state why. Prove what I said "wrong". This is a forum for debating. I suggest if you won't want to debate you get off the forum.

  4. Liberals are as usual putting their own interests ahead of the country by not acting on our border problem which is likely to grow exponentially when the warm weather arrives. M ost of these migrants are not refugees as they are leaving from various countries, flying into the U.S. then taking a bus or taxi which lets them off near our border. They are not exactly the wretched and the poor. Canada - milk it honey !

  5. We would be better off spending the money over there. There should be UN safe zones that are run by the UN, with a sizable military force to protect them and feed them till times are better. I would imagine a lot of refugees would love to be closer to home. Right now they seems to be no end in sight, so do we just keep bringing them in till we are full and civil war breaks out?? Time to shut down the refugee makers once and for all.

  6. It has nothing to do with trump. And conservatives are not the me first people, they are the only people that are afraid of where canada is heading. Change is coming to fast and people are now getting worried. The fabric of the country is changing and killing the canadian culture. (Yes we do have one). We all want to help people in NEED. Not just people looking for a better deal and every migrant that comes from the US should be sent right back to where they came from. Time to go after refugee makers and end this madness. We just can't bring everyone here. And because of all these changes , that is why the conservatives will win the next election. Trudeau is not listening to the people.

  7. Yes, may dad spent two years in South East Asia during WW2. One of the things he brought home was a Kukri. I don't think people understand the degree of respect in which they are held by everyone who has ever served with the Gurkhas. Joanna Lumley rocks.

  8. Targeting Muslim nations is retarded to begin with. In 2016 only 24 muslims were found to be involved in any kind of violent extremism... Out of 3.3 million. 10 Thousand gun nuts killed other Americans during that same year. You tell ME where the focus should be. Could be the way to keep America safe is a ban on Americans. Anybody that cant see this "ban" for what it is, is a moron. Its simply a political ploy to benefit from anti-immigrant, and anti-muslim sentiment, and its a smart one on Trumps behalf. But make no mistake about it, Trump knows this wont do jack shit to make Americans safer. But even though he knows supporters of it are stupid bigots, hes smart enough to release stupid bigots get to vote too. Tackling public safety though immigration policy is never going to work, because half of the worlds psychos are already there.

  9. This started as a status update but after 35 back and forth replies in under an hour I decided it ought to be discussed in more depth. Tonight, Trudeau, clearly referencing Trump's ban on refugees, decided to get into doing controversial tweets himself. "To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength #WelcomeToCanada," Not only is this grossly stupid in that we have the example of what Merkel's open arm policy for refugees has done to all of Europe, basically tearing about the EU, not to mention the crime and violence and the cost of tens of billions to Germany, but it's clearly aimed at the very thin skinned Donald Trump. It's an implicit criticism of him, if not an outright taunt. This at a time when Canada is trying to stay under the radar and not get the notoriously temperamental Trump angry at us. AP) - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has a message for refugees rejected by U.S. President Donald Trump: Canada will take you. http://www.wgrz.com/news/canadian-pm-trudeau-sends-welcome-tweet-to-refugees/394143789

  13. I finally made my choice. I will vote for Mad Max for 2 reasons. First, I fully endorse his platform. In addition, the Couillard affair ensures that Max has name recognition and this would help him square off against Trudeau in the next election. The fact he is Québecois will not be detrimental, just as it did not hurt the Dauphin.

  14. Yeah there are two separate school boards with completely different administration. And the Catholic Schools are often the nicer ones because they have access to other funding streams. And they aren't all that religious, but you do have to wear a uniform. Pragmatism would suggest that we don't need Catholic School Boards anymore. But in Ontario we've had a Liberal party in charge for going on 15 years and they haven't even hinted at scrapping the system.

  15. It should be though and the fact it isn't is why things are so far more FUBAR in your system than just about any other civilized country on Earth. Amongst other things you should really do something about catering to your parasite class of private insurers. Use them for something more useful like medical experiments.

  16. Trump at some of his rallies before he became president always said that he is not a politician. Trump could have not been much clearer than that. Indeed politicians do lie. That is a given. Canada is full of lying politicians as far as I am concerned, and it is impossible to try and get the truth out of any politician. They will try as hell to never have to say the words yes or no. It seems that once someone becomes a politician they learn quickly that they must omit those two words from their vocabulary. Don't believe me, watch one sometime.

  18. That is because the question is totally meaningless. The question should be how much do you want to invest (ie. raise taxes) in improving the immigration system. This is something Leitch doesn't tell you about her little pet project, it costs money - lots of money, a whole hellua lot of money if you want to interview neighbours as you suggested earlier.

  19. The problem begins long before residential schools came to be. In fact the schools were practically a necessary consequence of things that happened before, namely colonization. You want to identify a real crime? Destruction of a peoples food source, the Buffalo. All slaughtered, by the millions. Why were they slaughtered? To starve the Indian. And that's what they were doing, on their reserves. We're talking in the middle of NOWHERE, and a long time ago, so you can envision the isolation and problems that arise from this. There's no doctor available when some kid breaks their leg in remote northern Alberta. Heck, it's a problem even now. Part of the reason they were taken away from their parents was to take them out of that level of poverty. They were starving, neglected, sick, no future. Their culture was already destroyed.

  20. Well, we've endured months of thundering denunciations from every quarter of the national media of Kellie Lietch's suggestion we have values testing for potential immigrants, and it hasn't managed to convince Canadians. A poll taken by the CBC showed three out of 4 Canadians like the idea and want values testing. This is actually a higher number than a poll taken a while back by the Toronto Star. It's interesting that virtually 99% of all the national media elites are violently opposed to the very idea, dismissing it out of hand as bigoted and unworkable, and yet once again most Canadians disagree. It just shows how incredibly out of touch the elites are with Canadians. And I include those in the Conservative Party, most of whose legion of leadership candidates have also denounced her and any idea that we should impose any sort of testing on potential immigrants. I do not, of course, have to even mention the NDP, or the Liberals. I understand Trudeau is currently standing at the Quebec border looking for future cabinet appointments. http://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/most-canadians-favour-values-test-for-immigrants-poll

  21. I am willing to give Trump a pass on enacting the travel ban, but it does not go far enough or target the right nations. However all the nations that are on the list are the victims of the US's 'war on terror' who have yet to get their shit together after their nations were destroyed for no good f'n reason.

It is not a problem with Capitalism, this is a third world company , that pays out 3 rd world compensation, with that said what harm would it of created if Canada had said we will match NAPAL's contribution, it would have been a great opportunity for Canada to show how generous it is, after all it was Canadians diplomates that these Gurka were protecting...I mean 23,000 us dollars is spent every min by our government and a lot of it on useless shit.....here we would have gotten back so much more for our investment....

  23. As far as why is there a two-year election cycle in the States, there were some states at the time that were actually having terms of ONE year in their lower house. They felt that the House should be more responsive to the people, so it should be up for grabs, in entirety, and more frequently. Personally I cannot fathom waiting four years to throw someone out who proved impossible to live with. That's what we have to do in the state legislature, where both houses share the same four year terms. It sux.

  24. I don't understand what you mean....any U.S. president has the right and duty to bar entry into the U.S. when desired/necessary. If the U.S. is not satisfied that such individuals can be adequately screened/vetted, that is more than enough reason for a temporary or permanent ban. U.S. federal law bans travel/entry for far more foreign nationals than President Trump's previous or current EO for a variety of reasons. Again, the U.S. has detained and deported millions of people back to their country of origin...long before Trump came along. This is not a human rights issue in the context of travel, border entry, or deportation, for which existing frameworks already existed. Legal immigration is supported by past and present U.S. administrations.

  29. Other people's money? Taxes are "everybody's" money, not just yours. I'm proud of the way Canada makes the world a better place by helping a few people escape horrific situations. So far, more Canadians than not agree with me and so we continue to help a few people every year. If and when enough people agree with you that Canada should not accept refugees and elect a Canadian Trump, you'll have your wish.

  34. I don't agree with anything trump has done and would never have voted for him. However, his decisions are his to make, now I get that some of you are immature and you want to stick it to the man, not all but some in this thread have said as much, and that's super cool of course, oohhh the anarchy, etc. Perhaps, Trudeau and Trump have already discussed this very thing, both willing to go their own way publicly to their own benefit. But what strikes me as odd is all the complaints about Trump using twitter the way he does, but when our PM governs through twitter for his own political benefit, and don't kid yourself, it's not just about being Captain Canada, suddenly it's ok, suddenly there is an inherent nobility in this sort of smug governance, instead of a more measured, nation to nation discussion. Anyway, who knows, maybe Trump couldn't care less or has been told what to expect ahead of time and is ok with it, idk. But I know this, many millions of us have real families to take care of, we don't have the option of being the noble, superior, smug Canadian stereotype that so many of you seem to stake your identity on. Here's what's real, we are an ant, and if they so choose to be, the Americans are the boot, perhaps there is really nothing to be concerned about, lets hope so, but this isn't necessarily a little game we get to play without consequences, and while there are some worth fighting for I don't think this is the (ant) hill worth dying for, perhaps a little humility and reality about our true place in the world, not the imagined, particularly liberal smugness about our place is in order before we decide to play moral hero on this particular issue. It's wrong, but did we make similar twitter pronouncements about a hundred other equally or more wrong things done in a hundred other places? Nope, not like this we didn't.

  35. Clearly you're another guy who couldn't care less what happens to our trade or what happens at the border. Hey, we can grow money on trees! The hell with those Americans!

  36. As I've posted earlier, " A recent report by the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) estimates that each refugee claimant who has their application rejected by the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB), due either to lack of evidence of persecution in their home country or failing to show up to refugee hearings, costs the Canadian government over $50,000." Given Trudeau has removed the visa requirements for Hungary and Mexico, which each produced tens of thousands of phony refugees each year, and given this open invitation to refugees to come here, I think we can expect the number of applicants to soar in the coming months.

It might continue a little longer due to the momentum and inertia of our expansion the last hundred years and we can't rule out a technological breakthrough and innovating our way through the narrowing of opportunities known as The Bottleneck (I'm capitalizing this because I believe it will be what future ecologists and economists call the event) but I doubt it. It may not be a zero sum game if we attain Technological Singularity-hood for example but it also might be. I think we know enough by now to confidently say that we've squandered our social capital so badly that we've effectively chosen the mean path through The Bottleneck. We could have taken the path that was laid out for us in Kindergarten but we didn't. It is what it is.
