  1. It's ok Betsy. I understand comprehension is not your strong suit.

  3. Does your friend travel to the States? Because while there were 2558 terrorism related deaths worldwide in 2016, there were 15,063 gun-related deaths in the States in 2016, none of which were suicides. In 2017, there have already been 2598 gun-violence deaths in the US, which is more than all the people that died due to terrorism worldwide in 2016. It seems Americans with guns kill a lot more people than do terrorists with bombs.

  4. Every day when I step out the door in Canada, I'm at risk of something killing me - being involved in a car accident, having some nutjob, or a loose dog, attack me, falling, slipping and hitting my head. I might have an unexpected heart attack or stroke at any moment of any day. The chances of dying in a terrorist-related event is among the least likely of things to kill me, even outside of Canada. Being so afraid of something that is extremely unlikely to happen that one stays in one's hotel room is irrational. Besides, what if that hotel gets bombed? One would then wish they'd gone out for coffee.

  5. Now that is quite a twist of the truth. The Ontario Arbitrations Act of 1991 allowed the use of non-Canadian law, it allowed the parties to choose an alternative law with the proviso that an arbitral ruling which would violate Canadian law would be without force. In 2003, the Islamic Institute of Civil Justice announced its intent to create an arbitration process under that act. The Ontario Liberal government (to which I presume you mean Butts) closed that loophole with an update to the legislation in 2006. Alternative fact: Butts wanted sharia law Real fact: Butts got rid of the possibility of sharia law

  6. Come on man, look at the way they worded it and the conservatives said just change the word because it is very vague and we have a deal, she would not. They were looking for fight knowing the conservatives would not approve of what she is doing. This is just the start . Butts wanted sharia law added to the ONT family law it failed ,now he is working the federal scene now. If she really cared she would have done so. And yet the liberals say it is a independent motion put in by her, but when asked to change it,she says only the PMO can do it. Sounds fishy to me.All about votes and keeping the liberals in power for ever.

  7. It's one thing if you're also taking into consideration what scientists - those who should really know - had explained refuting your theory. Your FEMA article quoteations are simply assumptions! They even specified that they are assumptions. But your author had decided to make his coclusion based on assumptions. His conclusion.....can't be considered a conclusion.

  8. 10,000 gallons of jet fuel contain about 1.3 billion BTU's of energy. That is 1.3 billion BTU's of energy available that wasn't available in all the other high rise fires you truthers trot out as proof. You still haven't explained how the hijackers co-ordinated their attack with you mythical explosives. You also assume that a 100 ton object hitting a building at that speed is only going to cause localized damage. Not a particularly good assumption.

  9. hot enough avoids the subject of the hijackers like the plague because he can't explain them in a manner that doesn't ruin his little theory. He can't explain how the aircraft hitting the buildings was pecisely co-ordinated with his imaginary explosives going off. He can't explain how the government could convince people to hijack those aircratt and commit suicide taking thousands of their countrymen with them. He can't explain it so he doesn't dare talk about it but he expects people to take him seriously.

  12. All this molten steel simply wasn't possible for the alleged hijackers to have caused. It "defies rational belief" but when you are dealing with irrational people, who simply can't go where logic takes them. The US government has lied again, just as they have done myriad times in the past. Why would they care about 3,000 westerners when they needed "another Pearl Harbor"? Why would they care about millions more killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. They had been using the people of Iraq, stealing their oil wealth, since the 1920s. What kind of people defend this kind of evil?

  19. And we won't mention the hostile, angry, intolerant people from the right who left rape and death messages for Khalid, who killed a man last week because they thought he was Iranian, or shot a Sikh man over the weekend in Washington as he yelled "Go back to your country". How about you denounce those sorts of crimes - regardless of whether it's "right" or "left" - instead of deflecting to "the left" as if idiots only come in one shade. Unless of course, these criminals who threaten and kill others because they disagree with their politics/religion/color really are representative of all right-wingers?

  25. You have an unfortunate habit of taking the actions of a few to define the entire group. Using your "logic", I can claim that every right-winger in Canada approves of and supports Bissonette's slaughter of Muslims. Violence is wrong, whether I agree with that person's political ideology or not.

  29. When I said the US was in a mess, I didn't know how much of a me but after searching "obama's real name" and finding out info. on him I put at the same level as Bill Clinton. First of all, his first name is Barry and his dad's name is Frank Marshall Davis and he was a communist from Chicago, like many Hawaiians, he has/.held many social security # cards and compared to other people born the same time, the paper, and colour of his birth certificate , it is bogus. Barry/Obama is an American and just before he ran for office he had a face lift to change his nose and mouth so he would look like his bio. dad because he knew Americans would vote for him if they knew about his bio dad. Why is this important because it show character and knowing what he done and not done while President, is more understandable the way he thinks. He's a very extreme leftist and the sad part is he has a very likeable personality but then so does Bill Clinton and that's dangerous in scamming people. Since Davis had connection to the Russian also, maybe the apple doesn't fall so far from the tree.

  30. @Rue -- if these hardworking but politically unnoticed immigrants are given a choice between Trudeau and a Trump-like candidate, will they still throw him out of office, do you suppose? You seem to dislike JT immensely, so it's hard for me to take what you say in terms of his political maneuverings too seriously. You might mistake me for a Trudeau fan, but while I liked his policies as stated during his campaign it's also true he's irritated me on a personal level. And now he's disappointed me a couple of times so my vote for him next election is on shaky ground. His actions around this motion, refugees and immigrants don't actually outweigh his lack of commitment to promises he's already made, at least for me.

  31. Yes, I agree with this. I don't think this is entirely true. I agree that it helps to raise kids to be accepting and tolerant, but it's also true that people can grow into something different than they way they were raised. It seems unlikely that the parents of Alexandre Bissonnet raised him to hate Muslims enough to shoot them. There's also Maajid Nawaz, whose gone from extremist to moderate. People can change attitudes. I think this kind of discourse can happen and should happen. But discourse does not involve insulting an entire group of people or making up stories to make them appear more threatening than they are. Thus, starting a conversation with "Canadian Muslims demand an end to Free Speech" because someone made a motion for a study is not an invitation to discuss rationally. It's a call to arms, and feeds on the fears of people who are both ill-informed and unwilling to become better informed. Personally, I agree that the motion - even if passed, and even if it does result in a study - is not really going to help any religious minority nor will it protect Muslims from Islamaphobic people.

  32. Good question, perhaps you should ask taxme that introduced the topic. Who said this is about forcing people to do something? This is about recognizing there is a problem and figuring out what, if anything, can be done to try and address it. It is a motion to study the situation, it is not the solution. I don't know what specific wording you don't like in the motion, but you seem to be thinking it is a law or something. Agreed. I see this as one step towards that goal.

  35. Just as an aside, it makes no sense to me why Khalid was unwilling to exchange the word "Islamaphobia" for something a little easier for people to hear rather than react to emotionally. I think she ought to have done so.

  36. Tourism is greatly affected due to the spate of terror attacks in some European countries. A friend had to go to Paris for an unavoidable business meeting - and he stayed mostly in his hotel. His wife who stayed behind in Canada, was quite worried the whole time he was in Paris. The same concern is felt by others. http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/755963/Paris-violent-crime-terror-Chinese-tourists-number-down http://www.voanews.com/a/belgian-tourism-industry-down-terror-attacks/3488730.html https://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/30/business/international/europe-economy-gdp-terrorism.html Imagine how this affect their economy? How this must hurt, especially when you're relying on tourism for the economy.

  37. Living in unreasonable fear does that. Since there is a higher chance of dying from a car crash or getting hit by lightening, why bother leaving home at all? Your risk of being killed in a car crash (one in 19,000), drowning in your bathtub (one in 800,000), or being struck by lightning (one in 5.5 million) far exceed your risk of dying from terrorism (one in 20 million). Link By the way, speaking of decline in tourism: Donald Trump's 'Muslim ban' costs US travel industry an estimated $185m as tourism interest 'falls off a cliff' Link

  43. Exaggeration or not with reactions to terrorism in these places, the fact remains tourism is down. It's affected. If you're going to shell out a large amount of money for a vacation, wouldn't you consider all the factors that could dampen your pleasure, not to mention the likelihood that you could be caught in an unpleasant incident? It's like wanting to go on a cruise ship, and you know that there's one case of noravirus in that ship - will you still shell out the money and take your chances?
