GOTCHA!!! Yes, yes it is. Because you can't muster up an actual argument to show how anything with the budget led to poor outcomes here, so you just want to imply it instead. 8 minutes ago, robosmith said: What do YOU IMAGINE is being implied? CdnFox Posted July 7, 2025 Report Posted July 7, 2025 54 minutes ago, Boges said: I don't believe I've said such a thing. But I do think doing things like abolishing FEMA will only allow for more of these things to happen. It certainly defending those who did, because that's what we're talking about. Tons of comments about how these people deserved what they got. And you're directly comparing that behavior with criticizing a government that failed to repair firefighting reservoirs. I'm not sure how abolishing FEMA would lead to the prevention of things like this specifically because the people were dead before FEMA would have had a chance to step in, but sure it's quite possible that people will suffer or die as a result of the cuts to FEMA. At some point anyway. And you can make that argument but that's not the argument that's being made here. As far as FEMA goes it had become political to the point where it probably wasn't salvageable even though in principle it was a good idea. I mean they were literally denying service to people they felt were trump supporters and allowing them to suffer and make do on their own rather than provide them the aid that they we're supposed to. After that happens obviously you have to look at dismantling it, but I didn't see a whole lot of ideas put forward by the government to replace it either so that's an issue Quote "That which doesn't kill me... paxamericana Posted July 7, 2025 Report Posted July 7, 2025 Fellas, it’s a flash flood, in hill country, all the surface water will flow down hill into creek and riverbed. That’s the primary reason for flash flooding. The area is known as flash flood valley. It also had rare occurrence of rain cloud stalling overhead and depositing heavy rainfall over a short period. I don’t think blaming anybody for a geological feature that statistically occurs 1 in 100 year or 1% chance a year from environmental conditions is the right course of action. We should look into new technologies that incorporate early warning or build retention pond to mitigate potential flooding impact. Blaming people is not going to resolve this tragedy nor prevent one. eyeball Posted July 7, 2025 Report Posted July 7, 2025 17 hours ago, West said: Not climate change. It's a scam... I've heard it said no one could have foreseen how bad the flood would be in Texas. I note the Guadalupe River Valley is also being described as the most dangerous river valley in the US. It's been known for decades climate change would also change weather and usually for the worse. It's pretty simple, more heat means more energetic weather and as such you should generally expect and prepare for more of what you're used to. Stronger storms, dryer droughts, flashier floods, hotter heat spells, maybe even colder cold snaps. It's too late to plead they didn't get the memo - but in fact if there's anyone to blame it's probably scientists who failed to explain just how serious climate change really is. No one could have foreseen it? Hah...people could even foresee how blind the world would be decades ago and the analogy of the frog in a pot of water that was slowly brought to a boil was born. Interestingly enough...experiments have shown frogs in fact do have enough sense to jump out of the pot. You know that's true and yet you malign half of the population. When they go low, do you have to follow? No one on here or any where out there has decried what they said unless they are moderate or conservative. In fact, if we extrapolate past behavior while adding this latest incident to the mix, every time liberals go violent and or vile, there is a distinct lack of response or out right support by the rest of the left. Some examples: ANTIFA and BLM burn down businesses, take over parts of cities and generally riot and the left's reaction? Kamala Harris set up a fund to bail them out. A shooter in Dallas killed cops and protestors and the left's response was to decry that DPD used a robot to grenade the guy. A shooter actually shot President Trump and there were mass calls to aim better next time. Violent ICE protests in LA and the left responds by blaming Trump for ending it. These are not one off incidents. These are examples of a pattern of acceptance of disgusting and vile behavior. Behavior that you, yourself, just had an opportunity to condemn and yiur response was to attack me. Flip it around and you won't find a conservative that didnt call the J6 riot stupid and uncalled for. The left's, banana republic like response was equally if not even more so disgusting. But we expected it from the left. Edited July 7, 2025 by gatomontes99 Quote Don't you think that if I were wrong that I would know it?
