There is a reason why Trump wanted the libs to win. Still the same fools making the decisions. PP has always been against that tax.

Well most people know you 'negotiate' at a table behind closed doors. But the Orange Oaf has to do it on live media and tweets, so he can claim any concession whatsoever is the other guy 'caving in' to his demands. Braggart must massage his own ego.

Well that's partially True. Trump does love himself a good public humiliation of an opponent. But the fact is he is cunning. And he has a natural gift for smelling weakness. And he likes to put people on the spot and see how they react.

And you have to have a plan to handle it. The UK did and they came out fairly well. China did, they had a little bit of a rough go of it but again they came out with something that was halfway decent for that although it's still being finalized.

Honestly I just don't think carney has the experience of this kind of thing. He obviously did not see this coming, obviously did not have a plan, and trump came out slugging and caught him square in the jaw and he went down.

He has to learn from this experience and improve his skills and gather around him advisors who can help him work through this more effectively. Guaranteed trump is going to come at him twice as hard next time Believing he's pushed him around this time and he's an easy target so to speak. Carney will have to have a strategy to cope and it's probably going to be a bit of a fight. If you give a bully your lunch money once, nothing pisses him off more than when you refuse the second time, but he's going to have to and find a way to make it work

No, sovereignty. I just used fishing as an example of how screwy the politics of sovereignty get behind closed doors.

Entitled to an opinion LOL

They've certainly been telling Ottawa to fùck off longer than anyone else and they're getting better at it around here.

I'm not just talking about in-river fish sold out if the back of a pickup by the side of the road. These boats are coming in with $50000 worth of fish per trip/week. The fleet has tripled in size since the first guys started saying fùck you.

Now younger crew members are earning enough in a season to get their own boats. They've seen the light.

Like I said it's encouraging really.

Cunning as a bull in a China shop. How can you possibly describe his stumbling announced beforehand then recinded bunblings as cunning? You people like to rewrite the whole English dictionary.

We’re in unprecedented times. Our leaders are facing an almost impossible task dealing with a neighbour that used to be a close friend. I would support anybody representing us against someone who wishes us as ill as Trump does.

And yet...he has most Americans , including congress ad the senate, behind him and his antics and actions.

Dictionary? What does a dictionary have to do with Trump???  Maybe you need it? "recinded bunblings" LOL

Relied on the built in spellchecker and clicked post before I reread it. Damn!

As I once asked a teacher in Grade 3, how do you check spelling with a dictionary when you can't look it up cuz you don't know how it's spelled?

The Orange Oaf just posted the other day that "Vietnam has agreed to pay 20-40% tariffs". His Magats continue to believe Vietnam will be paying, not them......

remember what George Carlin once said: Beware the power of stupid people in large groups.

You may not like him but he's cunning.  Let's get real, this is a guy who came from nowhere and exceeded all expectations and won the presidency when everyone thought he was going to fail and I'm talking about the first time. Then, after one of the most disastrous defeats he comes back against the odds and with literally everything against him wins again.

Now you can say all kinds of things about it. That he cheats in business and that's why he succeeded, but he cheated in the first election and that's why he succeeded, or that he cheated in the second election and that's why he succeeded or whatever you like but the point is he still always manages to find some way to succeed

If you prefer a different word like crafty or something like that knock yourself out. I deliberately avoided the word smart and went with something that indicates a more animalistic natural ability to spot weakness or opportunity.

But this guy has succeeded more than any other politician in history, so if you don't think he's cunning then you are dumber than Kamala Harris.

The guy knows how to win. And he knows how the game is played. That's just the way it is

We're also in completely predictable times - we knew full well that the issue of sustainability and lack thereof would increase the amount of chaos in the world.

As always, we haven't seen anything yet

That's absolutely not an issue right now. But we know how you love to make general and vague statements that don't actually mean anything to try and sound like you actually have some clue about what's going on and that if only people has listened to you things would be better

And a rolling stone gathers no moss, and look before you leave, and make hay while the sun shines  etc etc etc.

Endless pathetically useless commentary that is the sign of a weak mind attempting to sound relevant.

In fact we have seen pretty much everything yet. There's not much that's going to happen that we haven't seen before.

We just have to deal with it like adults, which has been a problem so far. But hopefully carney will find his footing and improve.

You soured on Carney pretty quickly.

Who are you gonna vote for now, the Greens?

E. May is undoubtedly our most belligerent drunk, so maybe she actually is the one to stand up to Trump. We just need to keep the PMO stocked with boxed wine and cheap tequila.

The only one who's ignorant are indifferent is you. I'm well aware of what's going on, which is why I was all for not selecting this government. You are the blissfully ignorant one that keeps voting for them no matter how corrupt they are

Appease the bully and get it done after the trade negotiations are sealed.

Too easy and makes sense. A business decision.

You mean like the orginal trade deal we signed....what exactly makes this one different...are there any guarantees that this one will live through trump's presidency...

so getting a deal signed is only us looking to get out of some tariffs...which makes since but we don't know if any deal will make it through the week

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

What's worse is we didn't actually get a trade deal done. Appease the bully and get a deal only makes sense if you get a deal. Our tariffs are still in force and doing severe damage to our economy. You have to be 15 different kinds of stupid to think this was any kind of a good business deal even before you take into account the fact that as you say it could change tomorrow. No matter what happens right now we still have NAFTA to renegotiate next year, they've said they won't bump that forward. Anything agreed on today could be gone when that happens

As far as Trump (and seemingly Carney) is concerned, the "original" deal is dead.

There are no guarantees with Trump. We see this since he took office.

We can only hope it makes it through the week.  Hence the effort to find new trade partners. As was released yesterday, Canada has greatly increased trade with other countries and import trade with the US is down.
