User,

Russia? Soviet? Communism? Enemy? China? You Americans confuse all these terms.

Its not about being invaded. We have security and sovereignty threats in our arctic and maritime approaches, not least of which is from the Americans. And now of all tomes we need closer economic, security and defence ties with Europe which means investing in European defence

Carney isn't a bureaucrat. And that's a real problem. We're seeing that pretty quick

Gimme a break.

This is not the 1960s (when the Soviets were about to take over - and trust me, JFK, LBJ & Nixon were right to oppose those guys. You Americans won.)

The 1990s proved to everyone that the Soviet system, Maoism, does not work. Communism/Socialism does not work.

Sadly, that's what Carney is.

At least Trudeau Jnr was a Canadian.

Who are we fighting now?

Let's get these guys to stop fighting, get along.

If you only knew how your tax dollars are pi$$ed away by our government, you would puke. You should have seen the waste at DND.

But governments are all the same. When it is not your money, it is easy to spend it. Just look at the House of Commons; they vote in their own pay raises instead of asking us, the tax payer. Show me where that happens in the private sector where a commoner can do that.

The BC ferry procurement has taken a life of it's own, wrongfully in most cases.

No Canadian company even asked for the procurement documents, let alone put in a bid. The only choice was overseas and a Chinese company won and is building them.

As for the pipeline, well, BC Premier sad it best. He said he would agree to a new pipeline once the existing pipeline is close to reaching it's flow capacity. Alberta can send a lot more oil West for a quite a while before that happens.

Poll shows 50% of young Canadians (18-34) favour socialism. But cheer up, it drops to 'only' 43% among 35-54 year olds! Of course, the schools are still churning out indoctrinated little social justice fanatics, and we continue to bring in millions of people from societies that have no real tradition of democracy, so as the old farts disappear this love of socialism will continue to grow.

You don't think the reason for that was that the requirements were set so that no one in Canada could have made any money on it?

And then it will remain at capacity for how long? Ten more years? Twenty? While all the political and legal fights work their way through the system and all the native bands have been sufficiently bribed?

The Liberals have no intention of honoring this. Trudeau didn't honor our commitment for ten years and Carney can certainly bluff his way through the next three. He's already playing accounting games and will play more. He's said that doing 'infrastructure upgrades' to allow us to mine 'critical minerals' will count as defense spending, for example.

What he's not doing is buying tanks, armored vehicles, missiles, artillery, etc.

Do you have any idea what a open bid is??? Meet the specs and bid a price. If you do not make a bid...there is no way you can win LOL

It was car ferries...not warships LOL

Capacity?? By who? For who??

If it's an open bid with no required Canadian content and low bid, taking it then there would be no way they could make it here nearly as cheaply as China could make it there.

Capacity for increasing production.

When it is and open bid and they meet the requirement and are the lowest...they win. And,, how do you know what Canadian content is required let alone saying the requirements were not made?? Did you get a copy of the request for proposals and requirements??  I think not LOL

When were the Chinese companies that own Alberta oil production (that Harper sold to them) going to increase production?  When did they announce that?

That and as the Premier of BC said, the pipelines still have over 200,000 barrels a day capacity unused to pump.

Is this an effort at distraction from the point I made? Please show me where Harper sold anything to China. I wasn't aware he was a salesman. Are you saying every Canadian company of every kind that was sold to a foreign buyer was his responsibility? Does that go for Trudeau and Chretien too?

And if we wanted to divert some oil from the pipelines going to the US because they were paying us lower prices for it, how long do you think it would take to fill that? It can only take a fraction of what we ship to the US, so it's not able to give us a choice of telling the Americans we're going to send our oil elsewhere if you don't want it or won't pay world prices.

Wait...wait...you had a point??? LOL

OK. Here it is.

"In 2012, the Harper government approved the acquisition of Nexen Inc., a Canadian oil company, by the Chinese state-owned CNOOC (China National Offshore Oil Corporation). This $15.1 billion deal was controversial, sparking concerns about foreign state-owned enterprises and their role in Canada's energy sector. "

https://financialpost.com/commodities/energy/harpers-petro-folly-how-canada-fumbled-its-post-keystone-energy-vision-of-a-gateway-to-china

and again

"The big news today is that a Chinese state-owned company, PetroChina, has purchased a 60 percent stake in the Athabasca Oil Sands Corp.'s MacKay River and Dover projects for nearly $2 billion."

"Canadians should be deeply concerned about the relationship that would evolve, in which a foreign government increasingly makes important decisions about a premier Canadian industry and not necessarily with the free market in mind. For this is the start, not the extent of Chinese oilsands ambitions."

https://www.investigatewest.org/investigatewestreports/chinese-investment-spurs-alberta-tar-sands-and-pipeline-across-the-rockies-17692514

Oh and, in case you were not aware, the pipeline to the US is different than the one throughout BC and has the 200, 000 barrels a day remaining capacity

Lastly, you seem to be letting your emotions and partisanship blur facts. :)

Many of those poles would love to put an oil rig, fishing fleet, listening post, rusty old oil tankers and cargo ships, and pipelines in our arctic, mine resources off our sea floor, and through there. Including USA.   The global powers have every intention of trespassing across our waters and arctic at will as they please if we don’t secure them.

It won’t be an invasion it’ll just be an oil rig with armed men on it and a dare for us to do something about it

Don’t be so naive.

No Canadian companies submitted a bid and no pipeline proposal has been put forward. Snide comments don't work unless you know the facts.

What has that got to do with a bean counter's concept of national security?

No shit Dick Tracey 😂

Our PM said "We are phasing out the oil sands" and then they put an anti-pipelines bill through the HoC, do you expect a lineup of people looking to invest in Canadian oil?

If they said "We're closing off fishing off the east coast for ten years", do you think that people would be lining up to build canneries and fish processing plants there you f'n ret4rd?

If the Cultist Narrative Network/Cultist Broadcasting Corporation gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of typewriters, leftists would believe everything they typed.

Mr. Cornservative stuck in the past, "Our PM" did no such thing. The one your accusing of that is GONE. And climate change and environmental action was what that one was elected on.

Stubborn refusal to recognize real issue, to adapt to current situations and to suck up to policies endorsed by loud, whinging minorities has kept the Tories from power for four consecutive elections. Please continue to ignore the facts, we'll be happy to make it five.
