IMHO, I like what Trump is doing for America. Trump is pro-American, not pro-Canadian. Trump loves his country, unlike the lefty liberals like you, that we have had running and ruining this country for decades now who truly do hate Canada.

Unfortunately for the World's economies, Americans chose a charlatan as their leader. 

There were major warning signs that went ignored. We thought it prudent to elect a man who bankrupted six casinos, to "fix" our economy.  In very short order, he has turned the World against us, and has managed to cause a great economic disaster, not just in the U.S., but around the globe. 

I don't know how we are going to weather this. I suppose only time will tell.

I was kind of neutral about the U.S. election.  While I agreed with some things Trump advocated such as stopping all the illegal immigrants from coming in, I don't recall hearing about his plan to impose massive tariffs on his next door neighbours.  So I can't agree with those who say Trump is a good choice.  I think the tariff war he started with the rest of the world will be a disaster for the U.S. and the world.  Nothing good will come out of it and probably a lot of harm.  He claims industries are suddenly going to move to the U.S. and create jobs and wealth.  I don't think that is how things work.  He is cutting off the supply of low cost goods that our countries have imported from other countries.  This will make life more expensive and difficult for everyone.  Free trade has been a wonderful benefit for the U.S. and other countries they trade with.  What a shame this is being destroyed.

Well -  let's not get hasty with our conclusion.  We don't know yet what will happen to the USA.  This wouldn't be obvious overnight.

As far as I know -  Trump's concern is with the USA .........and, AMERICANS VOTED FOR HIM!  We can't fault them for that.  Lol - Democrats are like Trudeau.  They'd driven the USA to the ground.   Why did Americans vote for Trump?  Because, Democrats caused it!

I understand your anxiety.  I feel the same too about Canada's future.  But, let's keep a stiff upper lip about this.  Consider this tariff trade war as a wake-up call to us Canadians.

We aren't. And we should be and can be. 

Even OUR oil which flows from Alberta to ontario goes through the us, not canadian pipelines.  We've stopped manufacturing  a lot of things we should because what the heck,  we can get it easy from the states. We have zero military. What little we had we gave to ukraine and now our guys don't even have as much ammo to practice shooting with as they should, never mind advanced stuff (not even kidding.)

When you take power away from the equasion (electricity and oil) we actually buy more from the states than you buy from us, and we're a fraction of the size.  The trade barriers between provinces hurt us more than a 25 percent tariff from the states would, and that's not MY opinon that's what the economists say. 

We have just been lazy and complacent.  We can very easily change things in a few years to flip that back and rely far less on the USA. And that's what we should be doing, trump or no trump.  He wasn't wrong about everything.

I am self-reliant!  I'm even giving to the foodbank, just as I'm sure  other posters in this forum, are doing!

if we - AS A COUNTRY - can stand on our own two feet, without relying on trade with the USA!
