Donald Trump was warned by an expert on Saturday that the President is causing great harm to the world and the U.S.

Atul Gawande, a former professor at the Harvard School of Public Health and former United States Agency for International Development official, took to social media over the weekend to sound the alarm. The surgeon and medical professor has studied hospital profits in the past.

"I ran USAID health programs for the last 3 years. Trump’s 90 day Stop Work Order on foreign assistance does serious damage to the world and the US," Gawande said.

Citing some purported "examples," Gawande said the stop work order "stops work battling a deadly Marburg outbreak in Tanzania and a wide outbreak of a mpox variant killing children in west Africa before it spreads further," "stops monitoring of bird flu in 49 countries, a disease which already killed an American on home soil," "stops critical work to eradicate polio," and even "stops >$1B in corporate drug donations and coordination eradicating tropical diseases like river blindness, elephantiasis, and others on the verge of elimination in whole regions."

Further, he said, the plan "stops medicines, supplies, systems building, staff support aiding >90 million women and children to get low cost vaccinations, prenatal care, safe childbirth, contraception, and other basic lifesaving health needs."

He added that it also "stops direct services for 6.5 million orphans, vulnerable children, and their caregivers affected by HIV in 23 countries," "stops donated drug supplies keeping 20 million people living with HIV alive," and "would furlough all USAID contract staff — which includes half of its global health bureau—unless exempted."

"This Administration is trashing US standing, alliances with scores of countries built over half a century, world-leading capacity and expertise, and American security," the expert added."

'Killed an American': Expert puts Trump on notice over President causing 'serious damage'

This could likely cause widespread loss of life in the world.  This is shocking.

Another article reports this suspension of aid.  It appears it will affect aid to Ukraine.

"The order issued by Rubio goes beyond the executive order signed on Trump's first day in office to halt U.S. development assistance and is to cover all State Department and USAID programs. According to a congressional source associated with Democrats, this also means halting all aid to Ukraine, both military and humanitarian, as well as programs for training Ukrainian soldiers. This information about the suspension of aid projects for Ukraine is also confirmed by a Reuters source.

"Almost everything is under the supervision of the State Department, except for financial aid, which goes through the World Bank. But let's say if Ukrainian energy infrastructure were damaged by Russian shelling tomorrow, the U.S. would not be able to help prevent Ukrainians from freezing," a PAP interlocutor said.

This information was also confirmed by another PAP source associated with the State Department. The same reports, among others, PBS television and the portal Politico, indicate that Taiwan will also be affected.  "

This is exactly what was advertised. This what the dumb half of America voted for.

In less than one week time, Trump has done more damage to the United States, than any other president in history. Some of the people still supporting this man, obviously need the equivalent of de-Nazifacation. Even Hitler had the good sense to wait for half a year to withdraw from the League of Nations, and five years to threaten another nations sovereignty (Austria)

First off you would have a real challenge making that case. Truth is he hasn't actually "done" all that much. As the article suggests even with regards to aid to the Ukraine it means that maybe possibly under certain circumstances should additionally be necessary they wouldn't be able to give it without Donald Trump stepping in and allowing it. That's not the same as him actually doing something.

I think he's been extremely disruptive. He's upset a number of his allies, not to mention threatening to militarily attack a nato ally but as far as what he's DONE...  i don't know how you can justify that claim.

American political system, if not the society in general (I couldn't comment in general but there were some significant protests) appears to be paralyzed; in a deep scared slumber; and totally unprepared to deal with this challenge, one of the main reasons it was created for, to safeguard the foundations of democracy and the rule of law. Looks like an accomplished failure, on both sides and regardless of ideology. Paralysis, ostrich syndrome in the face of a present and grave danger. Please don't wake us up it's so cozy here. Can't be good.

They believe very much in the power of their pocket. My next reelection, the most important issue of them all. Affordable medications, who needs that seriously? Big buck in politics is the undoing of the great democracy.

Shocking! Shocking I tell you!

How dare the POTUS threaten to cut off the American funded gravytrain?

Oh for shame...

LOL...I guess the money pits like the WHO, the Greenie freaks, NATO, EU, Ukraine, will just have to learn to stand up by themselves. Oh how will the planet's population survive?

If Trump and his inner circle have no qualms about cutting off established medical aid and other life saving aid that could negatively affect millions of children in the third world, what might he do to his closest ally, Canada, in the coming weeks?  Taking a hostile attitude to Trump in response to his 25% tariffs could provoke worse.  I think Canada should really think carefully how it handles this guy.  He is unpredictable and irrational.

Their vaunted constitution and checks and balances were all an illusion  because they have stopped believing in them.

It's true. They've been systematically undone by a movement that does not believe in democracy or the institutions that preserve it. And a disengaged public voted for it.

You mean showing that you're weak and hesitant to an aggressive bully? That idea ever worked?

I would suggest the experts have politicized their agencies and caused significant damage due to lies.

I would outright state that ^your lack or expertise, as well as inability to cite EVIDENCE, makes your ^OPINION irrelevant.

No, I never said Canada needs to show weakness to a bully.  But we need to remember we're dealing with someone who is the leader of the most powerful country in the world.  Canada is insignificant by comparison and has no power to speak of.  We need to remember that and need to deal very carefully and wisely.  Canadians are the ones who will pay the price for bad judgment and foolish responses.  Putting counter tariffs on everything we export to the U.S. may be an unwise move that could hurt Canadians far more than Americans.   We have to find a way to weather this storm without damaging Canada more than helping it.  That's all I'm saying.

We could start by taking significant measures to address the U.S.'s concerns about the border.  Secondly, we need to increase military spending to 2% immediately and go beyond that to show we are serious about doing our share.  We could also abolish trade barriers between provinces immediately.

It'll be painful watching it dawn on them slowly but this is exactly how progressivism works.

As I see it we have two steps forward coming our way after we take this one back.

Well ALMOST nothing.  I mean, there's common sense and reason but our gov't rarely lets that get in the way.

I'm pretty sure we will if China decides to try and help fill the vacuum.

Who knows maybe this time around wheeling and dealing with more rational nations will rub off on China more positively. Especially if America picks up speed circling the drain and providing a good example of a bad alternative.

To recap, when we "trusted the experts" we ended up with

1. A trillion dollar war with multiple people DEAD in the middle east

2. Sky high inflation due and poor services due to opening up the floodgates of immigration without the housing supply, hospital beds, classroom capacity, etc to keep up

3. Lock downs and business closures over a virus because they wouldn't shut travel to China because "that's racist"

4. Distrust in institutions

5. Economic collapse in 2008 because they decided to lend out money to risky lenders because they were black

6. Widening gap between the rich and the poor

7. Suppressed wages due to shipping out manufacturing jobs

And others.

@Hodad See what I mean?

But sometimes it's funny even vindicating to watch.

Back in the day you'd be cancelled as an Islamofascist commie for talking like this around these parts.
