I don't think it was atheists that were objecting to people praying or saying Merry Christmas, I think it was people of other religions. Mostly Jews.

Merry Christmas everyone! 

On this day in 1914, two great armies which had faced each other with the intention of slaughtering one another in bloody conflict set aside their differences and met in no man's land to exchange gifts, take pictures and even play a few games of football.

Despite their politics and their differences and their bitter struggle against one another, they were able to still remember the spirit of eace and harmony and that they were all human beings, even if only for a brief time. 

The new year is bound to bring endless differences of opinion and conflict and even anger on this forum given the political changes in 2025. No matter how bad it gets, I hope we can remember that spirit of peace and keep it so that things never grow so bad that we can't stop and share a moment together from time to time.

Merry Christmas, happy holidays, happy new year to all.

the Conservatives can least afford the devastating effects of 25% tariffs across the board

you can be as nationalistic as you wanna be

but in the face of literally hundreds of thousands of Canadians getting laid off

you really have no choice but to capitulate

basically cut a deal by committing to massive redistribution from social programs to national security

Trump knows exactly what he's doing, and he well knows that he has Canada by the balls

but he's also looking for a win at the earliest opportunity

so the capitulation would be to Canada's benefit ;

doing what Canada should be doing anyways, while living to fight another day

the electorate is already terrified of Trump,

so Mssr Poilievre has the window of opportunity to do what he wants to do anyways

as the alternative of all this talk of "standing up to the school yard bully" etcetera

is totally delusional

this is not a school yard, this is geopolitics, wherein the bullies can crush you with impunity

this is not an analogy wherein the teacher comes out and saves you from a beating at recess

this is the back alley of the inner city where you get stabbed and nobody is coming to save you

to wit, no government is going to survive long,  playing the tough guy,

followed by the Canadian electorate suffering the devastating consequences therein

True but they also have a sense of humor where the liberals don't.

I'm sure that Poilievre will stand up for Canada, but I'm also sure that they will realize that trump is literally yanking everybody's chain around the world right now for the LOLs. Overreacting to that is as bad as under reacting.
