No, i would expect that the emergency services we pay for would do their job. That we paid for.

No we don't. When someone buys fire insurance they're buying insurance. When somebody gives money to someone else who didn't earn it just because they don't have money then that's charity.

There's nothing wrong with charity, but when the government does it by force of law then it is wealth redistribution and it is in fact socialism.

It has been argued and possibly could be argued that a base level of protections socially is advantageous to everybody and therefore is more of a government service than a charity. But not much and not for their entire life.

And certainly having rescue services go pull someone off of a roof Is not a charity or welfare.

If you want to see more charity, go talk to a church group. Or start a charity and raise the money yourself. There's lots of people who will donate to a charity, in fact republicans tend to be some of the biggest donors to charity. But when charity is enforced by force of law then it isn't charity, it's wealth distribution and socialism
