We pay into the social safety net so we are protected if calamity hits us, just like disaster assistance. You can pretend you don't understand simple concepts if you like. Maybe you want to change the subject to grammar now?

That's not what a social safety net is.  Fire insurance isn't a social safety net either :)

What is a social safety net if it is not something that we all pay into in case we need it?

Wealth Redistribution. Things that we all pay into in case we need it our insurance. The social safety net tends to be charity.

Exactly my point. Once you need help from the government to deal with the environmental devastation (that you helped cause by denying climate change), you no longer consider it charity. When you can inevitably no longer pay your rent, you'll feel the same about social welfare support.

Your point was that you're wrong? Well...  i'm not going to disagree ...  :)

It isn't charity and nobody considered it to be in the first place.  Police aren't charity. Fire departments aren't charity. the military isn't a charity.

These are civil services.  In  a failed effort to make your point you're trying to claim that any gov't expenditure is a 'charity' and that's not the case.  Sorry kiddo, total swing and a miss :)

How is it 'inevitable' i won't pay my rent? Or mortgage in my case i guess. I paid for my home (Rent or otherwise) all my life and always will. I buy my OWN insurance against disability or against unemployment,  i have my own savings against times of need, i have family, etc etc.

And if i took back all the money i'd paid for OTHER people to live without having to work, then i could afford to do even MORE to protect myself.

No WONDER the economy is such a mess if democrats can't tell the difference between a charity and a civil service like police or fire or rescue.
