Lol. You didn't watch that "unintentionally." You didn't just happen to tune in and catch that moment. You were fed that clip by algorithms, personalized through experience to feed you a curated drip of misinformed outrage.

This was a huge global story. Widely reported on. It happened at a global event, widely televised and reported on... THE OLYMPICS. No one needed any special algorithms to see this.

Now, keep hiding from me coward.

I saw it on one of the YouTube channels I subscribe to.

What is incorrect about this particular story?

Your takeaway from that story is that Khelif is a man--probably because that's what you were told. She's not. She did not develop as a man in utero, nor through puberty because--assuming the news is correct--she is genetically androgen resistant. Her body doesn't process and "use" testosterone even if it's in her bloodstream. That's why she is developed as a woman rather than a man. So in the conservative echo chamber you're probably hearing all kinds of nonsense about this "man" in women's boxing jacked up on testosterone and how it's terribly unfair and awful and riding the outrage wave of trans women in sport. Most of it's nonsense.

The first stories I've heard about this was that this individual was found to have xy chromosomes and elevated levels of testosterone and was previously barred from competing in another women's boxing championship series. Yes this is truly confusing as more information is coming out. What I saw seemed like a complete mismatch with this Italian boxer. I have seen some clips of women vs men in combat sports and it isn't pretty. If that boxer is intersex, is that fair to the other woman boxers if they are at a big disadvantage in strength and muscle mass?

The Olympics are still fun to watch imo, because it's really the only chance you get to see some sports like volleyball (not beach), gymnastics, etc at a meaningful level. Some women's sports, like soccer, basketball and hockey, also become meaningful at the Olympics.

Unfortunately for the athletes, the races are all about who has the best undetectable drugs now. It's not worth watching.

Apparently not. Her record is 37 and 9 with just 5 KOs.

That's good, but not overwhelming. Lots of women beating her.

I have watched some of the Olympics. The last supper item, even if I was religious, would not have changed my viewing pattern. Now the real news is that NCAA football is coming in 3 weeks, NFL in 5 weeks, and the NBA in 3 months.

I'm sure it wouldn't have for many. Just like the bud light thing wouldn't have changed your drinking habits.

But it did for a lot of people.  And it'll be in people's minds for the election as well. People are getting sick of the woke.

Well, first you would have to be willing to admit it was more than a "perceived insult" before pretending what you would do if you were religious or not...

This Olympics will be the least watched in history. Paris will suffer a huge black eye over it.

The Paris Olympics have brought some joie de vivre to NBCUniversal.

For the first 13 days of the Games, the Comcast Corp.-owned media company averaged 32.2 million viewers across its TV and streaming platforms, according to data from Nielsen and Adobe Analytics. The figure combines the live coverage shown during the day and the recorded highlights telecast and streamed in the evening.

For reference that's nearly 5 million more viewers than the 2016 Rio Olympics (broadcast, cable and online), and 17.6 million more than the Tokyo Olympic is 2021.

from a ratings viewpoint, the paris olympics were a success. From a revenue viewpoint, that is to be determined but likely to either break even or be a moderate success.

I get it. you are Christian and therefore the opening ceremony bothered you. I am atheist and a massive sports fan. If I decide to watch a sporting event.. the pregame, halftime stuff is just noise. I can separate the two out.

An Olympics going over budget? Who has ever heard of such a thing?

Many cities have learned harsh economic lessons from hosting the Games down through the years. Some have taken past mistakes onboard and Hamburg is a notable example where the city's 2015 hosting bid was rejected by its inhabitants on cost grounds in a referendum. Many others have learned the lesson the hard way according to research conducted by the University of Oxford in 2016 and website Play The Game. It claims that the event ballooned in cost on numerous occasions down through the years with notable examples including Montreal in 1976 which came in 720% over budget and the 1992 Games in Barcelona that saw a 266% cost overrun.

In more recent years, the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro cost just under $14 billion which represented a 352% cost overrun while the 2012 Games in London had a bill of just under $15 billion, 76% overbudget. Snowballing costs aren't just confined to the Summer Games and the Winter Olympics have also had their fair share of financial catastrophes. The $21.89 billion Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014 are a good example where numerous overbudget venues led to cost overrun of 289%.

Who cares? I frankly hope Paris goes bankrupt over this debauchery.

Why would I cry? They started off by insulting Christianity, cardboard beds in a box of a room, questionable food available, puking in and from a swim in the Seine, aaand...closed with The Golden Voyager?

And they were, from a viewership and sporting standpoint, an unqualified success. Cope more.
