Funny thing is that most of us know this but yet feel the need to stand by them.  A given person's  liberal candidate could be as dumb as box of rocks but because they are the Democratic candidate.. that compels them to adamantly defend their stupidity. I think we're reduced to defending the lesser of two evils. 

No one on earth thinks that Trump and Biden are the best candidates in the US. It's a failure of democracy that Americans are being railroaded into that decision. 

If Manchin actually does lead a 3rd party, that will be interesting. I think that a lot of republican voters actually respect him,  a lot of democrats can't vote for Joe, and everyone who thinks that partisan politics are a hug problem should have a healthy respect for Manchin. 

If Trump can't run, and Joe is still the Dem nominee, Manchin is a very compelling 3rd option. 

If he picks a solid running mate, it might be worth dropping a tidy sum (that you can afford to lose) on him in Vegas. 

I could afford to lose $1k, but I wouldn't want to. I bet I'd get more than 10K if I won though. I could have a lot of fun with $10K. 

If the odds are 1/20 I'll definitely bet some money on Manchin.

The FACT is, they are the best candidates by the only metric that matters: getting the most votes in the primaries.

Biden wasn't on the ballot in New Hampshire and still got 96% of the vote as a write in. No one "railroaded" those voters to write in Joe Biden. They did it cause Joe has the best chance of beating Trump AND his superior record of accomplishment of Democratic priorities during his term.

Obviously his age is a big concern to a lot of voters. There is a serious belief that just wont' be functional for 4 more years, and i think trump can probably sell that  a little especially if joe tries to hide in his basement.

The VP succeeds the POTUS if POTUS is not able to finish the term. But VP does not inherit the nomination. The nominee will be decided at the Democratic convention. That's almost always the person who has secured the most primary votes, which will be Biden. 

But, hypothetically, if something were to happen to Biden, or if he decided not to run again--or for any old reason, actually--they could nominate anyone else at the convention.
