Trump bucks the GOP on their border policies, says " if it doesn't benefit MY CAMPAIGN , drop all negotiations entirely!

House Republicans are practicing political nihilism

Quote

If House Republicans refuse to fix the border crisis, nobody will be able to deny the obvious: The GOP is more interested in nursing grievances and stoking anger than actually solving problems. That’s exactly what Donald Trump has trained them to do.

Bipartisan Senate negotiators and the White House say they are close to a deal on legislation to alleviate what everyone agrees is an emergency. It would give Republicans much of what they want regarding the southern border — beefed-up security against illegal crossings, tightened asylum rules, provision for more detentions and expulsions, perhaps even limits on President Biden’s authority to “parole” certain groups of immigrants into the country.

The package would also approve billions of dollars in military aid for Ukraine, which the administration says is urgently needed but some House Republicans oppose. This is how bitterly contested issues are resolved in Washington: One side gets some wins and makes some concessions, the other side does the same, and both sides claim they got the better of the deal. And maybe, in the end, some good gets done.

But after Biden met with congressional leaders at the White House on Wednesday, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) immediately threw doubt on the very idea of an agreement that addresses both the border and Ukraine. His position has been that the border question has to be resolved first, and that any solution has to be based on draconian House-passed legislation that would, among other things, require building 900 miles of Trump’s border wall. For both the Senate and Biden, Johnson’s demand is a non-starter.

Why would House Republicans balk at a chance to ease the crisis at the border that they’ve been braying about for years? Because they would rather have the issue as a cudgel for Trump, the likely GOP presidential nominee, to use against Biden in November.

Sorry, diapers. The definition of "asylum seeker" is something like a whistleblower from a communist country whose life is in danger. That describes maybe 300 people, not 30 million.

Your fraud of a president is selling out the country and now Texans are taking matters into their own hands.

I think once the borders are secured, we revoke you sympathizers' citizenships and deport your asses right along with the illegal aliens.

So has the GOP passed a bill which closes this “asylum seeker” loophole?

No? So if Biden breaks the law and sends them back, your team will impeach him. If he follows the law, you call him “weak.”  We can see right through your party’s nonsense. The GOP does not know how to govern.

Oh it is to dream.

I agree with your sentiment here. But mass deportation of Tweenkies would be a bridge too far for the American Public. The whole world in fact...I would venture to guess.

We just need to put them in their place. As the brunt of a bad joke.

I agree, mass revocation would never fly but it's a really nice thought, isn't it?

None of this would be happening if Biden followed our immigration laws, but we all know how you f*cking democrats feel about laws, so now Texas has to take matters into its own hands. I 100% support them.

The Senate passed an immigration bill that the President will sign. The House Republicans are refusing to take it up.  Cause Trump told them not to, because politics matters more than solving problems.

It isn't about the added border agents it is what they want the added border agents for. It is to process even more illegals so we can release them into the country, problem is they aren't stopping anyone from entering so stop the lie .

And stop this BS that they are doing jobs that  others won't because quite frankly when you are an asylum seeker, you can't legally work for something like 6 months after you fill out your petition and this was to deter those who are coming for economic reasons, of course that was until the Democrats started proclaiming sanctuary and guaranteeing housing and care to everyone.

This is the reason why Democrat cities and  states are getting a huge influx of them. What Abbot is sending them is only about 10% of the ones that are showing up and he is only sending them where they want to go.

I love the fact Texas starts putting up razor wire and Democrats get mad claiming it is keep the migrants from coming over, when they have been telling us for years barriers won't do anything to stop them. You know what stops them, barriers and a country that doesn't cater to them.

Can you?

People keep talking about this magic bill but no one is actually telling us what is actually in it and I cannot find anything beyond rumors about the contents of this bill.

Bipartisan in politic speak means they have like one Republican guy in a blue state on board.

Wow - this is the very first time i've ever heard of the house republicans refusing to pass a democrat bill. Will we be having a small statue made to commemorate the day?

Seriously this is starting to get tedious.  What the hell is even your point with this? The republicans want more and they don't want to settle for this and trump has expressed his views -  this is all perfectly normal, what's your point?

I haven't seen it either but i understand it does nothing to actually stop people coming across the border.  Just more cops to pick them up and release them into the country on a 'promise to appear' which few do.

trump required them to wait in mexico.  Biden could bring that back tomorrow and that would solve much of the problem.  But he won't.

Wow. Really? Thanks for the 'info' Rebound.

  1. Do you have proof that they're only refusing to take it up "because Twumpy said so", Rebound? Of course you don't. And you think that you don't need proof for about 100 different reasons, all of which are imbecilic.
  2. Do you think that the Dems really want to "solve the problems at the border"? I dunno if you're just incredibly stupid when it comes to some of these things or if you're always just lying, but nothing is more clear than the fact that the Dems are huge supporters of illegal immigration. Why? Because the Dems want cheap labour, higher rent for their slums, and they just have a really low opinion of impoverished Americans and illegal immigrants: they think that they own those people's votes and that those people are too stupid to realize what the Dems are really up to, and who's harmed the most by illegal immigration.

The fact is, Johnson was strongly considering the bill until he got the call from Trump per reporting that's been posted HERE.

All you have here is your OPINION.

So you realized you couldn't defend your original premise and decided to introduce a new and completely different one i take it :)

That occurred just as much under obama.  And these would be the "Parents" who knowingly endangered their children by bringing them illegally across the border in the first place.  I take it you're the kind of guy who blames gravity when someone jumps off a cliff

In any case the solution of forcing them to go back to the mexican side while it got sorted out seems like the best one.  But biden wiped that out.

Oh - and it's still going on.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/migrant-children-separated-parents-u-s-border-agents-overcrowding/

U.S. border agents are separating migrant children from their parents to avoid overcrowding, inspector finds

Making a half assed appeal to emotion is a dumb way to defend an argument, and you should know better than to try that kind of nonsense here.

Back to the original topic - Illegal immigration causes all sorts of problems.  Children being separated from their parents is just one of many very serious issues illegal immigration causes.  The answer is to prevent illegal immigration at all, or at least as much as possible.  And biden has gone the other direction.

Yes but Legal  Immigration  is not what Trump on his own decided, he decided without Congress that he would just close our borders  to anyone coming here,  people coming here legally were also prevented from entering! Onky Congress can clise our borders. You wonder at the high cost of food? Blame that on the Texas and Trump view of immigration, no immigrants equals no harvesters, and no harvesters means food has to be imported from.much costlier markets,  I live strawberry preserved for example and willingly pay $4 a jar for it, but under Trump that same jar Now costs $8.95!

American industries rely on cheap immigrant labor even resorting to bussing known illegals here to.pick crops, harvest sea food from nets, plant seeds where mechanical means are not possible, and do thousands of back breaking jobs that even the poorest American citizens will not do.  Illegals are brought here, they see their working conditions are much better than where they live, living conditions even in the bunk houses they live in during work seasons ( paid for very cheap and poorly made housing built by the Companies to house and feed these workers, who often do not go home until the season ends) , they see its safer here, no drug cartels to deal with it protect their families from or pay extortion strong arm " safety from gangs" fees just to survive. So is it any wonder they want to bring their families here?

Sad but true...try looking it up in any legitimate library...the Alabama State University library should do, or perhaps the Bearden branch library,  in Tennessee?  Surely these states wouldn't have any commies runner by them right?

Texas disagrees with you, roboshill. What evidence do you have that Governor Abbott and the rest of his state are hallucinating?
