Many versions of the same lies:   Religion

A lie is something that is told with an intent to deceive and something that is not true.

Folks involved in religion BELIEVE what they do is true; they are not trying to deceive you. Nor is there any falsification of what they BELIEVE to show it was false.

Speaking to Christianity, it is backed by The Bible, Archeology, and documented history to some degree. It doesn't "prove" the existence of Jesus or "prove" there is God, but to sit here saying it was a lie is just ignorant bigotry.

Hard to think of the one big lie in my life... but the most recent lie, one of the biggest told I can think of, was the WHO and other governments, including the US Government, and Dr Fauci, all telling us to not wear masks, that masks would not help us.

At the start of the Pandemic, they had no idea how COVID was being spread, but they wanted to protect the mask supply and they knowingly lied. They outright lied to the world saying not to wear a mask, when that was when COVID was spreading and people wearing masks could have made a huge difference.

I am a prepper of sorts and happen to keep N95 masks on hand all the time as a matter of routine, and I can tell you as soon as they said don't wear a mask, I knew they were full of crap and my family wore masks.

We were wearing them before that too, but it just goes to show you that people in power, even the scientists and others, will get behind what they think is a noble lie, they are not all altruistic truth tellers.

This was one of the most glaring examples of such wide-scale blatant dishonesty in my lifetime.

This bothered me, because of the flip flopping, many would wind up distrusting their governments further.

I was in China when it was safe to travel, and everyone was wearing a mask and they kept infection rates low, as a result. That's the key. Mass adoption for indoor use.

Ultimately, they buy time to get those with weakest immune systems, vaccinated.

Call it what you like, but 99% of what many different cults (oh...uh...RELIGIONS) is a total pack of BS.   Having someone repeat the lie over and over again does not make it true.   If it is not the truth, it is a lie.   Pretty straight forward.

It is no more a lie they are telling than what you are here saying is...

So, think about that one for a bit.

Have thought about it for much of the last 75 years - including my time in a seminary.

Religion is not necessary to life. One can not be religious and the same biological processes happen. Innate human nature still shows itself. If you want to be religious then that's fine much like I choose to be a huge fan of modern day rock music. I could stop listening to the music and life would carry on much the same.

We were brought up with a strictly Catholic education, and led to believe that God largely created the world then stepped back and watched it... stepping in to conjure a miracle or two when he can't resist the temptation

That's cool but unrelated. I was not raised in a religious household. Mom and dad believed in God but no one went to church. They worked hard and so when sunday came.. it was time to relax (go fishing, read a book, drive out to the country, etc.)

I have often found people who hold strong anti-religion or atheistic beliefs are hard to discuss it with.  But I am still hopeful they will listen to reason and logic and perhaps over time, change their thinking.

This article goes to the heart of the issue.

How I Know Christianity is True

Article contributed by Probe Ministries

Probe's Patrick Zukeran offers 5 lines of evidence that Christianity is true: Christianity teaches the correct worldview, the Bible is God's Word, Jesus confirmed His claims, Christ's resurrection, and personal experience.

Because Christianity Teaches the Correct Worldview

Among all the religions and philosophies, how do we know Christianity is true? While there are many ways to address the question, let's begin by saying that Christianity makes sense of the world around us. In other words, it presents the most correct worldview based on the world in which we live. There are three worldviews that lie at the foundation of all religions and philosophies: theism, naturalism, and pantheism. Theism teaches there is a personal God who created the universe. Naturalism teaches there is no divine being and that the universe is the result of time and chance. Pantheism teaches that the universe is eternal and that the divine is an impersonal force made up of all things. All three worldviews cannot be true at the same time and if one of them is true, the other two must be false.

The evidence from our study of the universe points to theism. Unfortunately, time will allow me to go over only three lines of evidence.

The first is the argument from first cause or the cosmological argument, which states if something exists, it must have either come from something else, come from nothing, or have always existed. What is the most reasonable conclusion of the three for the existence of the universe? Scientists confirm that the universe has a beginning. Many call this the "big bang." Since the universe assuredly has a beginning, the worldview of pantheism bears the burden of proof. Second, to say the universe comes from nothing goes against responsible scientific inquiry and human logic. For example, any invention in human history is not brought about from nothing. It comes from materials and ingenuity that existed before its inception. Therefore, the naturalist worldview has no logical ground to stand on. The best conclusion is that the universe is the result of a cause greater than itself. That cause is God.  unquote

It is important to know the theories of evolution, the theory of a Big Bang are false.  Genesis says in six days God created everything.  This is stated in a way which means it is to be taken literally.

These theories deny that God designed and created the universe in six days.

All one has to do is look at the complexity of the creation to know it required God.

Take the atom for instance.  It is composed of sub atomic particles and its components operate on amazing principles of physics that keep it together to interact with other particles or atoms to form molecules of different kinds.  These things could never have happened by some kind of cosmic accident.  That is just not a rational explanation.  They were designed with extreme precision and are really amazing.

The problem with that is God has revealed himself and his revelation to mankind in the form of the Holy Scriptures that point out the problem with mankind.

Yes, one could live without God in his life, but according to Scriptures could end up in Hell.  God is man's only hope to avoid that.  The Scriptures (King James Bible) explain how.

The Scriptures describe how God created everything in six days including Adam and Eve.  God created mankind with a relationship between each individual and himself.  Along with that he gave man free will but also a requirement to have a good relationship with their Creator.  Adam and Eve broke this relationship by eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden.  This alienated mankind from God.  This resulted in eternal death and a corrupt, fallen world which is what we have right up to today.  But God, in his mercy, sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem fallen mankind and restore him into a good relationship with God.  The only way this can be done is by man responding to God's offer of free grace by believing in His Son and accepting Him as one's personal Savior.  This means the one who is redeemed is completely forgiven and now is a son or daughter of God and will live with Him for eternity.  This is where the Scriptures come in and the gospel of John is a good place to start.  The epistles expand on the this and tell us how to live for God and with Him.
