Well, they got his tax returns in New York, put his CFO in jail, and the Company was just convicted of 14 felonies or so. 

I think it's clear that Donald Trump is a lawless individual. I don't understand why you defend it. There are many millionaires and billionaires in America, but Donald Trump seems to be the one who continually winds up in court. He appears to have created a business strategy of cheating people out of their money and then bullying his way to victory in court. I've worked in many businesses and every one assiduously strives to avoid illegal or legally contentious actions, but domestically and overseas.

So this IRS contractor stole thousands of tax records of rich and prominent Americans, released them to the media, plead guilty to 1 charge of disclosure, and is likely going to get 8-14 months in jail. WOW! Did they ever nail this guy!

Yup, especially for a white collar guy.  The precedent has been set.  Those handling taxes of Americans know they’ll be going to jail if they leak them.  Thus also sending a wake up call to other government agencies.

S. The returns were already legally in the hands of the House as of Dec 2022 (date of this thread), so unlikely any lawsuits will be filed that rely solely on a leak from October 2023.

When I posted he hadn't been sentenced yet and I believe it was his lawyer who suggested he was going to get between 8 and 14 months. All I can see is the link by NBC (and posted by sharkman) has automatically updated itself. 5 years sounds more realistic than 8 to 14 months. Now if he was a Trump crony and pulled that off of Pelosi he would have gotten life.

He did but the returns he released were real, not made up. The guy broke the law by releasing them but Trump still paid next to SFA in taxes, which he fought tooth and nail to keep secret.
