I don't care if it takes until Sep/Oct 2021. Compensation, lockdowns and public safety measures as required should remain in place until such time as this is either vaccinated away or there's a treatment.  Further to that is the likelihood that millions of jobs have been lost forever in which case we'll need a guaranteed annual income to prevent a cultural revolution.  And you can also forget about doing away with laws or regulations intended to protect the environment or mitigate climate change. I'm pretty sure your ilk will be advocating for 'opening' all that up too.

You’re completely insane.  Anyways...

Wouldn't surprise me that was true though. I know the Spieles convictions for voter fraud are true. Even the leftist fact checking site Snopes admits it. They tried to make excuses but ultimately they had to admit it.

So you’re ok with voter fraud, until somebody gets caught doing it on a much bigger scale?  That makes zero sense.  Remember that in 2000 Florida was decided on a few hundred votes.

Oh, looks like a stinging meme!

You should have paid more attention to my other post ...

Unless of course you think Democrat-skewering memes are always 100% accurate, and only Republican-skewering memes ever spread BS.

Exactly.  Gerrymandering is done by both parties.  Has been for decades.

That's what the communists used to do, give a guarantee annual income to people but what it does, It takes away the individual desire to succeed and in time corruption will appear because I can tell you right now, you think people that are highly productive and work daily including the weekends will want their taxes to go up so they can pay for someone to stay home and do nothing ?

The other side is saying to open up everything which is as insane as your thoughts to keep it like this until 2021.

Why is it when is chaos in the world people tend to go to the extremes instead of thinking this in a rational way. There is so much social support in this country and opportunities is not enough ? There is a welfare system which helps the individual. You want more ? Who is going to pay for that ? Where is the money going to come from ?

I'm not okay with it.  I think it's insignificant until proven otherwise, and pretty non-partisan anyway.

Really?

According to NY stats, only 0.7% of the people who died of covid were known to not have any "pre-existing medical conditions". Undoubtedly some, most or maybe even all of the 0.7% were heavy smokers, drinkers, or drug addicts, they just fall into this category because didn't have diabetes, cancer, heart disease, kidney disease, etc.

I don't know how they're unable to say whether or not 25% of the victims had a medical condition. Maybe they're homeless, undocumented, or without any sort of medical coverage?

Anyways, there are two groups of people on that list that matter, and that's the two groups that they're certain about. Unknown = not worthy of being included in reliable stats

Do you know what percentage of the population has a known preexisting medical condition? Did you know that all of them are actual human people?

He also cautioned against reducing distancing and to take very significant precautions.  Yes you like to repeat that vulnerable populations need to be protected but I believe you're being reckless and that following your advice will get more people killed and prolong the recovery to such an extent it could be pushed out of reach. There's no need to rush and no need to leave anyone behind.

Stay the precautionary course and err on the side of caution.

Sure, but this all goes back to whether or not this is a pandemic of biblical proportions.

Because it’s the Kavanaugh horrible/Biden good group. It’s the group that see a fake Ukrainian scandal and miss a real one. It’s the Russian collusion freaks that didn’t notice the FBI was running a scam. It’s the group that started screaming HCQ is a killer just because Trump said it before Cuomo. It’s the group that watches CNN and gobbles that crap up.

We were hanging out with my wife’s cousin yesterday. Her husband watches CNN all the time. He’s irredeemable. But he honestly didn’t even know that Sandman successfully sued them for defamation of character. How the f is that even possible? It’s not every day that an international news corporation is successfully sued by a kid. You’d think it would make “the news” lol.

No, I don’t trust anything they say anymore. There’s a chance that something they say will be true but I have to hear it somewhere else first.

1. I just meant it in a general way not to you personally, I asked if you want more social support in Canada when we have so much here ?

2. If the solution to economic problems is to just print money, any government that is suffering can buy 20 printers and start printing money. What that does, it decreases the value of that currency. I am already noticing in the grocery stores how slowly the prices are going up. In 6-12 months it will be even worse. That's what happens if you have too much money in circulation.

3. The time being is a perfect opportunity for people to use this crisis to push their agenda. Is busy time for the extremes. The far right is pushing conspiracy theories that Soros, New World Order, Bill Gates did it and far left socialists are saying is time for UBI, free rent, free transportation, free everything. Even moderate politicians like the mayor of Toronto was blaming "men" that don't wear the masks due to "not wanting to look weak".

Never ceases to amaze me how human beings can adapt quickly to use tragedies to push their group thinking beliefs, and if these moderate politicians don't focus on maintaining a balance we risk having a dictatorship.

Now it is, how about tomorrow ?I think we are forgetting one important thing which is because there is no vaccine for this virus and it travels so fast, there is a probability of a mutation in which case it can go either way. There is no easy answer how to proceed. I think all these measures are to buy time for that vaccine to come out as soon as possible. I really feel for whoever is in charge regardless of country, the stress that they are under, any decision has to be well thought and plan A plan B and plan C has to be ready in case it does not work out.

PS: Toronto, today full parks, here is a picture from CP24:

Capture.thumb.PNG.a531b45090522ccee3f2219145c966c3.PNG

I'm shocked member BC2004 didn't jump all over this.

I guess it's notable that the scene here was jarring enough to most people that this instance wasn't the norm.

As an aside. I went to a regional park on the weekend. They had a cool social distance work around. For access you need to reserve a time online so that the part doesn't get overwhelmed.

My wife and I actually decided a membership would be suitable for this summer may be a write off for a lot of outdoor gatherings.

Posted (edited)

Another aside.

I think when/if Gyms ever come back, I won't continue with my membership. 1) I have a baby now. 2) I won't put up with any level of Social distancing measures at the Gym.

It's already crowded and you have to be close to people. I'm not paying full freight to wait outside for someone to leave like I have to at Costco. And if I have to register online, good luck ever getting a time after work.

I'll try my hand at working out at home.

Yes, they weren't able to coordinate widespread social distancing in the time of the Bible. What's your point?

I will say that the virtue signalling of social distancing is getting irksome. You have to wear a mask everywhere! you can't see anyone that's not in your household!

I can see why people feel the need to rage against it.

Like with anything there's two extremes. People who think wearing a mask is weak and that Social distancing is communism and people who still refuse to leave their homes for anything social and wear masks everywhere (even outside).

Now public figures are being criticized for not wearing a mask. It's the new thing you pretty much need to do.

I think it's more an issue in the US, no one will force you to wear a mask in Canada. . . yet. But I thought I'd play ball and wear one at the grocery store yesterday. But no way in hell am I wearing a mask when I'm outside on a walk!
