That is actually an intelligent question. The answer is the age of consent is 18. According to the law, no one below the age of 18 can have sex with an adult, buy cigarettes, buy alcohol, get a tattoo, etc.

There is a term in family law called STATUTORY RAPE. Adults go to prison for this crime.

Only in Muslim countries, (where old men can MARRY 9 year olds without their consent) is there a lack of STATUTORY RAPE laws.

I have been to countries where people will sell their daughters, so if you have money, some will be willing to turn a blind eye to things.

If you're desperately poor, and the man is incredibly affluent, you having a child or food will be the choice to be made.

I can easily see a father doing this or a mother, but they would have to be desperately poor, or just not care about their kids and be horrible parents.

I don't doubt it. The United States has a unique quality about it. That sort of thing is illegal and is punishable by prison. A lot of illegal aliens violating our borders bring in their own child to sell in the sex trade.

The United States is several cuts ABOVE THAT, except in certain blue states where a newborn child or an abortion survivor could be killed legally by his/her doctor.

Well, as a matter of fact, adults having sex with minors are guilty of RAPE.

As far as teenage sex goes, I got very lucky. I made it OUT of that small North Carolina town without getting any young bimbo pregnant, mostly because I ABSTAINED.

I hated that town so much that there was  no way I was going to allow a pregnancy and a forced marriage (this was back in the early Seventies) chain me to that town. Self control is not a super power. Intelligent adults control themselves all the time.
