Reporting from Istanbul, Köksal erroneously stated the following: “… and an ominous response from the Middle East. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying a Trump presidency would effectively end the idea of a Palestinian state, but as they welcomed the political upset, ripples of the Trump reality were felt elsewhere around the world.” You can listen to this report at the following link. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu did not make this statement that this CBC reporter wrongly attributed to him and he still supports a two state solution in solving the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. Turkey is a puppet and caught in the middle of a proxy war between Russia( and her allies) with the US ( and her allies). Turkey has no way to project their military power much beyond their borders. Considering what is going on around them, they are on a defensive stance and STILL having a hard time with terrorism internally. Military coups don't take place in stable nations. One has to take into account the USSR, the pro-Western Iranian Army, the Pro-Soviet Tudeh Party and of course, the Shah. As for Iran and it's oil interests...they did excellent under the Shah.
