Rue Posted April 15, 2014 Report Posted April 15, 2014 Well WW I agree. (lol I do sometimes). I too some days am absolutely amazed at the amount of denial that comes out of Doug Ford's mouth. The blame everyone but Rob for his behaviour has pushed past the point of absurdity. It has become pathological- i.e., so pronounced and obvious that even the closest of Ford supporters are seeing it for what it is. I am not sure what is sadder, the morbidly obese, self-destructive Rob Ford, or his brother making excuses for it. You do not have to be a psycho-analyst to see that Doug Ford blames himself for his brother's self-destruction and in that sense he is what is called co-dependent. He is as sick as his brother. While his brother Rob destroys his body literally with alcohol, drugs and over-eating dangerous foods and refusing to exercise, Doug destroys himself bottling in his anger at the world. When you see Doug Ford speaking his eyes bulge, he can barely breath and the anger is just beneath the surface. Who dies of the massive heart attack first is anyone's guess. They are racing each other to the grave. when Rob Ford keels over one of these days his brother will go ballistic blaming the world. Both are tinder boxes on the verge of either an explosion (attacking others with violence) or implosion (heart attack). Either way the anger will come out and kill them. I must say though, I am disappointed so far with both Tory and Chow. Tory is coming across like a limp wet noodle. Chow I would give the nod to at this point. I can't say I am impressed with her either but Tory seems complacent and satisfied to just sit back and be quiet. It is a tactic he has used every time he has been defeated. He will not lower himself to an emotional level of politics and that is what seems to enforce this silver spoon impression people get of him-a guy not willing to get down and dirty. I mean don't get me wrong, I like it in a way, but I think in city politics, you need passion and emotion. Right now Chow is struggling to show it too She looks tired, struggles with her speeches and is definitely not the arrogant pushy rebel from 15 or 20 years ago on the street. I am not sure if age has mellowed her or the illness and death of her husband but she looks frail some days. When I look at the policies,I see Chow making a ridiculous comment about wanting to spend millions on day care and flipping and flopping on subwys. I see Tory not saying anything and Ford with zero policies as usual other than to say he hates everyone and blames everyone for his being fat and drunk. None of the candidates so far have made me want to vote for them. Quote
WWWTT Posted April 15, 2014 Author Report Posted April 15, 2014 If Rob Ford were to die unexpectedly(anything other than health issues), there would be an outpouring of good will towards him (see Jim Flaherty thread). But probably not. As far as Tory goes, Don't think that guy really wants to win anything. If he won that would mean he would have to go to a regular job and he would open himself up to all kinds of criticism. WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! WestCoastRunner Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 Well, Ford has officially kicked off his campaign and according to Marcel Wieder, a political consultant in Toronto, If the election were held tomorrow he would most likely win. He is currently seven points behind Chow, not an insurmountable number to beat. Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. On Guard for Thee Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 Were I eligable, I would vote for Ford in the upcoming election. We Canadians are known for our sense of humor and aren't afraid to be laughed at. And boy have we been laughed at with Ford at the helm. Quote
Mighty AC Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 Voting for RoFo is a lot like people who choose to sing an odd Karaoke song as a joke. It leads to 2 seconds of funny followed by an extended period of awkward, regretful, embarrassment. Rue Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 Well it would not surprise me what West reported. At this point it seems Tory has faded and this is a Ford v. Chow contest at the moment. The problem is I think in this election those who will end up voting in the leader are not going to choose until the very end-there is no sense of urgency at this stage. In the fall when we get closer to the election is when the rhetoric will pick up and as things heat up it will be hard to get a accurate pulse. Ford is due for some sort of self destructive behaviour any day now. The pathology of his behaviour means like clock work he goes about a month to 2 months before he acts out in public and part of that I believe is his resistance to male authority (i.e., unresolved conflicts with his father) and his own brother (who he rebels against subconsciously as he perceives his brother playing the father role with him). Ford is acting out his anger as to unresolved issues with his father and |father" in this case becomes "society" as a whole or anyone in society perceived as an authority figure, i.e., a police chief, anyone with perceived power (including personal popularity) that makes Rob feel threatened. For Rob Ford not to turn on his brother before this is over is improbable. As the heat increases, the 2 are due for a fight or 2 which will change the complexion of the race. Tory so far looks totally disinterested. Not sure why his team has him so low key invisible. His handlers are engaging in the Bill Davis- Art Eggleton approach-remain boring so as not to offend anyone. Problem is he is up against Ford and Chow both who are not afraid to offend and say what is on their mind. Right now the 3 front runners are; Honey from the Doonsebury comic strip (Chow) Chris Farley (Rob Ford) retired but barely alive Bob Barker (Tory) Quote
BubberMiley Posted April 26, 2014 Report Posted April 26, 2014 Now he's threatening that his hoodlum friends will be shooting people in the streets because his preferred housing CEO didn't get to keep his job? guyser Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 And yet, dumbass Ford supporters will be too er dumb to know how bad a comment that is. As if Ford could prevent any shootings, hell....pretty soon I wouldnt be surprised he orchestrates some ! Quote

On Guard for Thee Posted May 1, 2014 Report Posted May 1, 2014 I wonder if he is really done. This seems only to be "thoroughly damaged man take 87" Ford supporters up to now haven't seemed to care too much about what is exceedingly obvious. I hope to be stood corrected when I see his poll numbers drop. Quote

Rue Posted May 1, 2014 Report Posted May 1, 2014 (edited) Rue, on 19 Mar 2014 - 12:16 PM, said:When Ford gets called on to show how much money he actually saved and why it was him and no one else he will unrave and try bully his way out with insults and self destruct Once the I saved money myth is exposed he will self destruct violently.I think Ford will have a heart attack or do something violent to himself before this election is over. I do not think he will make it through to the final vote without large melt-down and some sort of tragedy. The signs are all there. In fact he has put on more weight and I notice when he speaks now he closes his eyes. He never used to do that-and this is psychological symptom often associated with someone deeply conflicted. Closing your eyes when speaking can be a sign of trying to escape from who you are and not believing the message you are stating. Either way when its observed in people who are not singers or praying, its often a sign of deep anxiety and conflict and or discomfort. I do not think Ford is done. He will come back in a month or two. He has not admitted to anything. He ran away from his latest meltdown. He is stil in denial. He will go to rehab. but quit or not complete it. He also runs the risk of a stroke or heart attack trying to de-tox. If he can survive that strain on his heart, after about 2 weeks of staying clean if he lasts that long, when he gets into a very early stage of rehab. where he is asked to admit he has a problem he will flee back to his home. He may quit within a day, a week, but I can not see this man lasting 3 weeks in rehab. not at this time. There is zero indication of acceptance of an illness by him. The only thing that is going to derail Ford is a stroke or heart attack. Until then he will carry on. He will come back playing the sympathy card and the I am now reformed and clean song. He will then self destruct yet again. Ford is still in complete denial so he is not done. In fact this is just another day in his long drawn out suicide. Ford is not done until he has killed himself. The only thing he has done is to force his enablers, i.e., his family out in the open. He sabotaged them. He does not want them helping him. His lashing out at the world is also lashing out at them and resenting them as well. Understand Ford thinks his brother deep inside is part of his problem. He has built up anger over his older brother protecting him. It made him feel weak. He resents that. Ford is going to return and this is not over until he is dead or paralyzed from a stroke.
