Election Canada's findings

So far EC has found robo calls started 3 days before the election and all the complains they received were about the Conservative party. Guelph and Winnipeg being among the first. The 20 year old that the Tories pointed the finger at, said he couldn't have done it because he didn't have the password to the computer and only two people did and since then EC has cleared the 20 year of wrong doing. I would think that IF and only IF for now, the Tories did do this, only a limited amount of people know about it and so when the some of the Tory MP's say they ran an honest election, as far as they know they did but its starting to look different. I just hope EC can find out for sure and fine the party heavy and put in safety solutions before 2015. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/robocalls-complaints-came-3-days-2011-election-003122509.html

Frank Valeriote won by such a margin in Guelph it didn't even matter. Marty Burke got crushed and won't be running again. It's unlikely that anyone will really be held responsible. It's been over a year since the election and it's not as if this was a Byzantine conspiracy. Some turd in a small-beans city did something idioti. This would hardly be a difficult investigation or take years to unravel.

Why unravel it at tax payers expense? Just run as much media at it as you can for as long as you can. Then stop when its no longer getting attention put it in a can and move on to the next boondoggle. I hope the next contender is the one smart enough to understand that there are no points to be made from the backbenches. We get one shot every half a decade and then we give the keys to the next guy. Break out the canned goods at the beginning of the next campaign, but not before.

Were rules / laws broken ? Certainly, but the net impact is zero...so move on. They cheated, is that news?

Blaming a 20 year old, how appropriate huh.png

I seriously doubt a 20 year old alone can be sophisticated enough to conduct such an elaborate scheme.

Keep it up Conservatives. It doesn't look bad at all when someone potentially messed with an election and you all just want it swept under the rug.

I guess a simple meh from the majority of Canadians who apparently elected Harper isn't enough, they want to revel in it a little before they sweep it away. It's sort of like the thrill dogs get from rolling in their own crap except conservatives get their jollies from rubbing things like this in the noses of all the losers who didn't get with the program and vote for Harper.

It does matter because election fraud bars you from office for life.

Having knowledge of and not reporting would be abetting the act.

No this is not how things are done in a real democracy. You need to protect the integrity of the process and investigate these kinds of things.

the sponsorship scandal was a regional corruption scandal, nothing really new there, typical for quebec and the cpc and it's supporters made a huge issue of it...but that issue compared to electoral fraud is not even in the same league...election fraud hits right at the very fundamentals of democracy, shit like this happens in third world dictatorships not in western democracies, there is no bigger or more dangerous threat to our democracy than electoral fraud....

When they have proof that a harper or top officials said to do it then get back to us.

Exactly. But the previous post about keeping it up as long as possible is what is happening. Even though there is no proof of anything yet, only innuendo and speculation, they can keep running the speculation enough times to plant the seeds.

The timing of the recent piece from the CBC is also suspect as it is a week before the 3 by elections.

Hey election tampering is big news in a real democracy. I guess if we lived in some kind of s__tbag bananna republic, we could just stop talking about it and pretend it didnt happen, and you guys would be happy. You could problem move to a country where that exact kind of thing happens if you want.

The daring duo have omitted information and dropped a quote from the Chief. So once again it is all media speculation, but still the boys continue to push their story as they obviously have an agenda. - a week before the bye elections.

Postmedia’s Maher and McGregor omit important Elections Canada lawyer’s email in robocall story

http://bcblue.wordpress.com/2012/11/20/postmedias-maher-and-mcgregor-omit-important-elections-canada-lawyers-email-in-robocall-story/

In a very serious breach of journalistic integrity, Lilley shows where Maher and McGregor left out of their latest robocall story (apx 100 so far), an email that laid waste to their entire premise that Election Canada officials were directly blaming the Conservatives for trying to confuse voters:

I would suggest you change the subject line [Conservative Party] of your email to something more neutral, as we do not know who is behind these calls (see here apx 4:00 min mark)

This is simple police work. Force the company to reveal who paid for the robo calls. Trace that. Done. The person dumb enough to do this was unlikely smart enough to go through the steps needed to cover his tracks.

That's what I don't understand. Why can they not trace the calls and subpoena the company, after 18 months they should know more, surely.

Meanwhile, those with an agenda continue to push the speculation and innuendo, it's time for E.C. to 'git 'er done', if they can't do it, then turn it over to the FBI biggrin.png
