  1. http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/05/15/r...s-of-terrorism/ Clip is available there. Ron Paul's composure tells a lot about the man. He seems smart and knows how to pick his words. The fact tha Juliani just jumped in there DEMANDING 30 seconds, shows how sensitive of a topic it is for him, and that 'they hate freedom' just does not seem to cut it for Paul. And for the rest of us
  2. BubberMiley ... evertime I see your name I read it as BlubberMikey If it does, it can prevent it too then right?? I'd say weed does NOT cure cancer.
  3. JerryS Those are the ones that they knew about. How about the known unknowns? Or the unknown unknowns? Before Sept 11, 2001, the last terrorist attack on the mainland USA was when? 1993 WTC bombing? And before that? Iraq is not Al-Queda's turf. Afghanistan is, and I will not argue with you on that. The thing is, people are still dying, here or over there. So we would rather have our soldiers die in a foreign country than have civilians in the homeland dying from a terror attack? Sure, makes sense. Prediciton? Yes indeed. Another terror attack will happen on the mainland USA before Bush leaves office. I had origionaly predicted the end of this year, but I am now thinking it will be this summer, July or August. I hope I am wrong.
  4. There are extreemists on all sides. ALL SIDES. I know of this one Christian who was given a mission by God himself. Problem with that is, he is currently the President of the United States. Mr. GWB. Either way you people spin this. This Martyr Mouse is just deplorable. Insane, stupid, dangerous. Without getting into the history of Israel/Palestine, Muslims/Jews/Christians........ all of these religions have extreemist elements among them. Some are more subtle than others about it, but the overall message is the same. Hate. Not one religion mentioned in this thread promotes unity among any number of religions. Jews want to be jews and are taght Judiasm. Muslims are taught the teachings of the Koran. Christians, the bible. WTF people. Really, WTFF. I talk with a nice lass that serves me my coffee every day. We talked a bit about this today. She mentioned she was Muslim (origionally from Lebanon) and that she was shocked and appauled by the Mouse. She goes on to say that none of that shit is in the Koran. And when she was growing up, no one taught her hatetred towards other religions. I am glad I do not align myself with any religon whatsoever. So far, it has served me well. On the kids signing bombs thing, I recall this article, but I also recall it was about surviving family members of the attacks on Sept 11, 2001 in NYC. The surviving children wrote things on the bombs that were going to Iraq. I shall look for it later, but if my memory is correct, then the above is true. I am not taught hate, I managed to learn it all on my own!!
  5. Fine, use 3 squares and use the light wash mode on the bidet... problem solved.
  6. You are under the mistaken belief that a one yr old can remember an experience. But if the kid is always around snakes, he will get used to them and not be scared of them. And yes, your brian remembers everything you have ever done, just not too capable of recalling memories. Good for you, why don't you perform this ritual on a young baby, use a friend's or extended family member if you don't have one of your own. Well, to each their own right?? I would actualy let my infant run rampant with a rabid pitbull. This was a useless thread with no political conversation at all.
  7. I get bias and a daily Bible quote??? SOLD !!!!! Welcome to the NoSpin-pedia !!!!
  8. Yeah no kidding. I keep it from most of my family for the stigma attatched. My parents know I smoke, hell I am an adult and can make my own calls right? Yes indeed. I thought my mom was a hippie back in the day, I know for sure my dad smoke pot back in the day. My mom asked me the other day why I smoke and how I feel after it. If she knew, she would not have asked. Red wine is known to have anti-oxidents that can combat certain desieses. Weed, chills you out, little more focus involved. Yoga is good for the body. This just might be the best cure for everything I could think of. Wine to take the edge off from the day, a joint to mellow you out. Yoga to relax and stretch the body. The Ultimate Unwind. There is an interesting CBC podcast available that talks about how Mary Jane and cannaboids affect the brain. Compared to all other drugs and substances, weed does something to the brain no other drug does. I will see if I can get it hosted for you guys. It is an iteresting bit. The show ran 25 minutes.
  9. I feel bad for the kids. Feeling compelled to stay in their seats to endure this. She felt tortured in a way. Why she just did not get up and leave is a mystery to me. At that age everything is intimidating. This sub teach should not be teaching anymore I agree. One thing is weird is that there was no mention of a 'class' like sociology that might have attempted to explain it. Nothing of that sort, so yeah she messed up big time. If I was to show that movie to a minor (hell I have not even seen it yet myself) as a teacher 1 - School's go ahead. 2 - Parents go ahead. 3 - Make sure it is relative to the class/topic. 4 - Make sure it is not an R rated movie. Sex is bad, gay sex is worse (no not really) but violence is A OK! Keep R rated out of the classroom.
  10. I don't think this mission helps Canada out in any way shape or form. It was an initiative on the War on Terror. The US had big involvement there, but now they are tied down in Iraq a couple blocks over. Afghanistan was not solved before aother can of problems was opened up. Coalition of the willing is left to do the rest of the job without major US involvement. It does not help us in any way. Canada does not get the resources. I have had a couple friends do tours in Afghanistan as well. One of them is questioining the overall mission and wants to have a pull out. But like in Iraq, pulling out will create a void were terrorism has a good chance to take back the country and put it in the hands of the Taliban. Something inside me says more troops at the start would have been needed to shorten the conflict. Besides Afghanistan and Iraq have nothing to do with the war on terror. They are both just distractions. Screwed if we stay (unless strategy changes drasticly) and screwed if we leave. Afghanistan has not affected my life for the good or better. I do not feel safer, or less safe. I am still going about my daily life. The mission should have been Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
  11. Bush never promised to end to the war. Democrats wont be able to change it I agree. So if the government cannot change or influence the Bush Policy, then you have a dictatorship like government. But anyways, You keep refering to Germany, Japan like they were in the same league as Iraq (in terms of conflict and the reasons for conflict) Germany and Japan were taken out in that thing they call WWII. Many countries were involved. The US did not join WWI until much later, and got into WWII after Pearl Harbour. Is that right? So the US attacked countries that attacked it ? Japan did, but not Germany. Iraq has not even attacked the US. But we know the outcome. Different situations and circumstances.
  12. With all due respect, the US and Canada have already indicated abject indifference for Darfur when it comes to ground troops. We're just playing footsie with Sudan's government. Iraq is keen on the US interest list....it is one stop shopping with a lot more to offer than Darfur and human rights. That would not have anything to do with Cheney's little surprise visit telling the Iraqi Parliment to keep working. We know certain oil deals were to be signed this week. How much oil is in Darfur? Any?
  13. I think you are missing the big picture. Saddam is dead. Iraq is occupied. Iraqis are killing each other in sectarian violence. It's not a counterattack into Kuwait. 1 in 10 damaging property unnecessarily? Who gives a damn...see "WAR". The bigger picture being that a stable and free Iraq will benifit the US in many ways and to win the war on terror. Fight them there so we don't have to fight them here type thing. Leaving Iraq will create a void where terrorism has already increased dramaticly and allow it more room to grow. The US says Al-queda is in Iraq fighting the Iraqi army and US troops. Sectarian violence is the new politicly correct way of saying CIVIL WAR. Call it what it is. Denial is the first step, remember? I am glad you can call it an occupation, which it certainly is. Regardless of the lies that got the US and the coalition into this mess, yeah it is all going pretty well. The Long War. The war that might not end in your lifetime (I got a good 60 years in me left).
  14. Still not sure what "breaking point" means? Mutiny? Rebellion in the ranks? Fragged officers? Mass desertions to Syria and Iran? Troops know damn well what the score is for extended tours and stop loss orders. I'd say breaking point in terms of Military is stretched too thin. Also spread out all over the globe. Little to no reservists to fulfill any emergency operations roles. Iraq, Afghanistan... two major battles. The US needs another 100 000 to 150 000 aditional troops RIGHT NOW to absolutely kill the violence and the reconstruction can begin. With all the surging going on, it does not seem to make a difference. And according to my last post, the Generals on the ground are taking a wait and see approach. Small edit le which turned out large. So with the other thread about how 1 in 10 US troops are harassing or damaging property, you can see how extending the tour can make those numbers rise? The troops know their role, yes. Most signed up for wanting to serve their country. Others signed up to get away from something, or to bail them out of a financial crisis. So the ones that are in it for money, or because the need to will for the most part never be as good as the ones who wanted to serve, signed up. Basicly do they really have their heart in it when serving. I am not trying to be a dick, but I cannot really find other words to describe it. We know there is about 150 000 troops there in Iraq Bush Administration says we need a surge only after he puts new Generals in the field to replace the ones that said a surge was needed. (yeah that blows my mind too) Troops have had their tours extended from 6 months to 15 (two incrimental increases) Adding 30 000 more troops will not make a difference and resources are wasted on a 'patchwork bound to fail'. Public support is now in the shitter for this war. So in a way all this stress on the soldier can make things worse in Iraq. More soldiers 'snapping' and more frequently, that kind of thing. The psychological effect on the troops in Iraq must be incredible, and compound with the frustration that they can't get back up when they need it can make a person go mad.
  15. There have been troop escalations since January. Would make an interesting chart to show when the troop escalation started (troop levels before and after) and the rate of violence there during that time period. I have been hearing about troop escalation sine January, and to me I do not think it is working. The military is stretched thin right now, or else troops would have their tours shortened, not extended to 15 months. And this is the second time the tour lengths has been extended. http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8...1571784,00.html Posted Dec 20 2006 Was the surge to happen last June or this June?? Down here, up there. Overall it stayed the same. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...0802096_pf.html But I thought the surge was working? So in Sept they will figure out if the surge is working? Extended until 2008? No the breaking point of the US military. Troops are unhappy the tour is extended, but they understand. How much frustration can that cause for one person? More from Washington Post Getting tired of all these anonymous officials. "Every day is exactly the same. There is no loss here, and there is no gain." NIN - Everyday is exaclty the same. CD - With Teeth.
  16. "Canadian" beer is still here, lots of it. Check out all the micro-brewskis in this country, they're all thriving quite well and it's probably why the likes of Molsons and Labatts have to go south for business. The micros have done a great job on bringing "taste" into beer bottles. The yellow pisz water the big guys sell is so close in taste to "American" beer it might as well be there. Support the the micros, now that's good "Canadian" beer. This man speaks the truth. Microbreweries are where it is at. Many hotels I stayed at had micro's on the hotel itself. In some cases the hotel does very well. And with brewing all the beer on site, much money would have to be saved (I guess) and you get a better tasting beer. I have stayed away from Canadian, Blue, ect for the most part, they all taste the same. I want some beer with flavour. Sleeman's I like much. Keiths I enjoy. Although I am a fan of the cheap Pabst Blue Ribbon (26 bucks a case) it is lacking in bite. German, Belgium and Holland all make great beers as well.
  17. RBC has been posting record profits recently. I do not see how merging with another foreign bank can brew competition and I do not see how it will benifit Canadians. Mergers are generally a bad thing for employees and customers, but a great thing for the banks bottom line. And when merging with a foreign company, you will have people in another country partaking in the control of the financial institution. Hopefully all the kinks are hammered out, for dealing with banks in two different countries causes problems. Canadian standards for banks are not the same as the foreign country's bank. Merging would have to get a standard across the board for both locations/companies. I have seen a lot of consolidation with banks and other large corporations in general. AT&T is now the largest telecommunications company in the US. This is a round up of all the small Ma Bells that were created when large monopolistic companies were broken up in the 80s to create some competition in the market place, in order to stimulate it) Foreign competition means that the money may no longer stay here in Canada.
  18. Ignoring them will make them go away. If people talk about it, like we are here, then we are bringing this issue to a wider audience. Remember, any publicity is good publicity. I laugh and move on. But some like to stewn on what these 'shock jocks' say about others, and this is the thing the idiots do and it keeps going. I bet before Imus many who are complaining about what he said , never even heard of him or his radio show. Now he is more widley known because of the comment. Same with these two yahoos. The more you talk about it, the more it legitimizes what they say. To them, it tells them that people are tunning in. Just turn the station off. I had heard of them before this post, but I don't listen to them. They hurt my brain sometimes. So yes I laugh at it, because all this complaining just brings more attention to them.
  19. One problem, not all doctors are the same, and not everyone will help you out the the same way. I hated being on the medication, it worked for a short term , then made me edgy and irritated. There are 3 others in my family that was on prescription anti depressants. Now we all smoke pot more or less. (Me more than them) And I got the same responses from them. It just allows them to shut down. I guess some good meditation would help as well. or dump a few of life's stresses. Pot will have much less side effects on anyone than any prescription drug. It is a natural plant (I know some are poisonous) and can easily be grown. Medical crops would have a valid purpose, and yes Hemp clothes would be nice. Pick up a prescription bottle, tell me what the side effects are, and the exeptions (don't take if you are on heart medication, have bladder problems ect..) weed does not have those side effects. Smoke, get high, releave some pain, eat a snack. There has been enough clinical studies on pot to know how it affects us. Hell, the US military gave LSD to the soldiers in the field. I bet that had no side effects at all. I just think that that information is being held from the public. Time and a place for everything. Common sense is not so common anymore.
  20. I find all this stuff funny as shit to tell you the truth. When people make offensive comments, I laugh, no regards for the victim. Who really cares what others say? Do you? Making this public and posting this on boards around the planet will not help the issue, it will just bring a bigger audience for it. I laugh at a lot of stuff humans do. Somethings are just not worth mentioning. Marginalize them and tune them out if you don't like it!!! Except the fact people do talk about it, legitimizing it in a way.
  21. I am a daily pot smoker myself. Pot can help with certain social disorderd like manic depressivness (bipolar) and other mental ailments. I used to be on prescription drugs for my anxiety and depression. Just made me feel zoned out, really stoned, really disconnected from things. I took myself off them. Then I found pot. Now pot gives me the chance to shut my brain off. One thing with bipolar is that you can stew on a certain thing over and over and over again untill it drives you mad. Obsessive behavious as well comes with it. I am able to think better sometimes when I smoke. Got too much on the go? It comes down to how we deal with things on a daily basis in our society. The more stresses the more people will snap. I have never OD'd on pot. I have never been sick on pot It helps with nausea, headaches, upset stomach. I can say I am addicted to it, or more of less the habit of rolling a J. Theraputicle for me. Also it depends on the person. I know for a fact that I can't handle hard drugs like coke, ect. So I just don't take them. I have experienced myself enough with pot to know how it affects me. Do I suffer from short term memory loss? Yeah like only 99% of you out there.
  22. Problem solved. Get a bidet !!! http://www.westernsnowconference.org/2003/...BidetOfBeer.JPG
  23. You are under the mistaken belief that a one yr old can remember an experience. But if the kid is always around snakes, he will get used to them and not be scared of them. And yes, your brian remembers everything you have ever done, just not too capable of recalling memories.
  24. I'd say the parents being not worried is the least reason to not worry about the child since they put him next to a wild animal. Do you not see the cobra lunging at the baby's face? This is significantly more dangerous to an eye than a stationary table. BTW since the baby can only crawl at this point, the table is not a concern. Hey a kitten or a puppy can take out an eye easily as well. Wild animals, domesticated animals, mom did not aim the bottle at the mouth, that kind of thing. In the long run, this kid will not fear snakes much at all.
  25. The baby could easily lose an eye, which in that poor culture would probably make him a beggar for life. Other than that, though, no danger. The baby could loose an eye if it smacked its head on a corner of a table. Again , parents are not worried, and it may not be ok, and it really is small potatoes in the overall scheeme of things.
