  1. More Bush apologist/Blame Clinton meme. Bush said he was not worried about Osama. Even now he does not seam that concerned about Osama. This is important to note. We never hear any more about how right they were about the WMDs, chem weapons, ect ect,
  2. The president with the least vacation days was Jimmy Carter. So I hope President Bush takes as many vacation days as he damn well pleases. I agree - in fact, give him an early retirement. Starting now would be good. We cant be sending those kinds of signals to the terrorists now can we??
  3. To are confusing the mechanism of leg failure with what happens to the table top after failure. The leg fails quickly - how it fails depends on the material. It could shatter or crumple like an aluminum can - the exact mechanism does not make a difference. If the leg fails it cannot extert a force on the table top that would cause it to rotate.Try putting a book on top of peice of spaghetti. The book would collapse straight down after the spaghetti bends and shatters. You are deluding yourself if you think that a collapsing leg would always cause the table to tip. Try it then. If there spagetti turns to dust and breaks into very small almost unified peices ... the you are correct. I think the problem is in how everyone approaches the leg or beam. This table needs some moidifcation now and we need to expand this model This square table now had a hard solid post in the middle of the table. This post is bigger than the 4 corner posts combined. Wait what??? Top down force would make it bend and shatter? So bending occurs and (i am no freaking engineer here in any way shape or form) rotation would occur as well??
  4. The president with the least vacation days was Jimmy Carter. So I hope President Bush takes as many vacation days as he damn well pleases. But we are at war!?? How can the President take a vacation when vitory is JUST AROUND THE CORNER!!?? Now THAT is progress.
  5. Charles Anthony, I am getting what you are saying now. I was thinking about that today myself about footnotes in an essay or term paper ect. So in the future, that is something I will do for very long videos.
  6. http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/05/03/...t.ap/index.html Problems with how the Lebanon Israeli war last year. Failed to rescue any of it's captured troops. Time will tell, and time does tell.
  7. I don't drive a Hummer or smoke cigars, but I'm offended by your comment. I'm just saying sometimes the additional time (and in some cases driving distance) really doesn't make much sense. I won't take more than 5 or 10 minutes to save $4. I'd just work that much longer at work and pay the higher price for convenience. It's all a pretty rational thought out plan I think. Work a bit more when the price goes up again, and again. Soon you will be working just to fill your tank. Sounds like progress to me. Your actions justify what Big Oil is doing You are accepting these prices for convenience. I got rid of my car 6 years ago. Have not owned once since. So much money I am not spending on maintaing a car. Well for me all that extra money is going towards my student loans. And after I am done, I plan to invest in a house before I ever buy car again.
  8. Just another factor in BAD PARENTING. If the parent sees nothing wrong with this, then they are to blame more than society. Your parents are your lifeline to the world for a good deal of your life. Pick up that spare controller and play the game with your child. Ask questiions, get involved. interact with your child. Don't fail your child by not knowing what is going on in their lives. You are the one to provide shelter food, education and entertainment. Stop blaming everyone else and start being a parent.
  9. I waited for ScottSA to respond to me, but wow, it had been over a week now. Either he has forgotten about this thread, or he is ignoring it for he has nothing else to contribute to the thread. HypocraSyria http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/05/03/...e.ap/index.html Flip floppin. http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/05/03/con...q.ap/index.html So when does the President start his vacation? Remember this man has taken more vacation days than any president prior to this.
  10. Any money for peanut storage in that bill??
  11. Well if they had gone with the notion and propaganda that Saddam was bad and needed to be taken out and not lie about it, it might have never gone down. Gotta sex up everything for the masses. But because they lied about the 'true goal', I cannot put much faith in the war on terror. and overall Iraq will be a thorn in the US's side for decades to come.
  12. Not if #4 is attached to the ground. In that situation there would be some complex forces that would cause #4 to bend but the entire weight would have to shift to leg #4 first. Think about it: it is a ridgid structure attached to the ground. The _only_ way it could rotate is if the connection between the ground and the leg or between the leg and the top broke. This could happen with some structures but before any breaking occurred the structure would be at rest. This means the normal force exterted on #4 _must_ be equal to the weight of the load. With this structure supporting the entire load means leg #4 would collapse _before_ the one of the connections could be broken which, in turn, this means the table top would fall _straight_ down. If 2 and 3 acted as pivot points, I cannot see this. There would be a negative stress on the 4th corner. If that was the case, then the top part of WTC 2 should have fallen first the other way, But we saw the building buckle and the top portion tipped towards the side of the building where there was the least support. If you are pushing straight down in the middle of this square table, it makes sense to me you are putting more preassure on 2 and 3 to support the load. The only way your analogy works (ok I am no physicit) is if the exoskeleton was made of rubber. #1 snapped, so the contraction would work on 4 to pull the building down towards 4. But again, it went the other way.
  13. Watch the documentart on the General Motors electric car called the EV 1 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_EV1 http://ev1-club.power.net/ A great documentary called 'Who killed the Electric Car' shows that there was a huge demand for the car, but GM did not want to build anymore. The simple fact that none of these cars were ever 'SOLD" jst leased to the person can tell a lot about what GM had intended for the car. http://www.sonyclassics.com/whokilledtheelectriccar/ If GM had done it right, this car would be the most popular electric vehicle on the road.
  14. Cherrypicking?? Like the MSM does? If you do not trust MSM, and if you reject outright, any alternative news source, then you are really not getting any good information and not even trying to. It should be more credible if you do not think the MSM is doing the job right. I take all media with a grain of salt. Then you will never grasp what is really happening. You might find something in the hour long program I link to in oder to prove my point. Some posteres would accuse me of cherry picking and that forces most to actually watch the whole thing to get more of the context of the story. Soon enough people will point out flaws in the video. If you do not trust the MSM 100% and if you do not search out alternative sources of information, you are only hurting yourself. The more you know, the better choices you can make. Now I will even point out that http://www.infowars.net has their own slant on articles. A great deal of their articles are from main stream media. Linked, referenced ect. So this alternative news source points out some hypocracy in the MSM reporting.
  15. If 2 and 3 become pivitol focal points, then the stress on leg 4 would be a negative. And since leg 1 was not there to take up the slack, #4 can easily be lift off the ground by applying some downward force on the table where leg 1 used to be. So anyways, 2, 3 become focal points. The top portion of the building would tip to where there was the least support. 4 on WTC 2 would have had a streching effect
  16. Figleaf, I really liked this statement. And In any video of the second tower collapse, the section above the impact zone tips and starts to slide some. If nothing else contributed to it's trajectory, the section should have just 'slid' off into the street below, leaving most of the building below the impact zone intact. But in the videos, soon after some tipping, the floors below just seem to come out of it affecting the movement of the top part. The core of WTC 1 and 2 were made up of 47 box columns. Basicly this 'table' had a main support in the middle, and an exoskeleton surrounding the perimiter of the 'table' If one corner gives out, Stress on two corners would almost be the same. The stress on the opposite corner would have a negative effect (because of the tipping) So a push down on one corner and a pull up on the opposite corner. Aside some other force (after all is said and done, plane, fuel, heat, warp ect) The tipping should still have happened. When I first saw the footage of WTC 1 and 2, I am surprised that the top part of 2 just did not slide off and fall into the adjacent street and or buildings below. Instead it seemed to have been sucked back in and then straight down. The amount of force needed to push 20 some odd stories of any building to one side, then have it pushed back the other way is way more than my brain is able to conceive. A large outside force is needed to move that chunk back into a straight down trajectory.
  17. Crap, and I do not have cable TV. Besides I was working and could not watch it. Is there a video feed somewhere I can latch on to in order to watch this??
  18. You are paying more because the supply side is so tight. Refineries are at maximum capacity, our prices flucuate even when one goes down for maintenance. We haven't had a new refinery built in Canada in about 20 years, yet in that time our population has grown significantly. SOLUTION !!!! Build another refinery?? Since one has not been built in 20 yeqrs, we have been at a peak production rate for 20 years. Making the overall amount of fuel per person much less. Our population and use of natural resouces has definatly increased dramaticly in 20 years. Oh right, Big Oil does not want to build another refinery. If they would make more money from it, it would have been taken care of already.
  19. And where is this property? In your home? Or someone elses? My home, your technology, my oil. Play nice and you get some. Anyways, this state take over of the resources can and will benefit Venezuela as a whole. Steal from the rich give to the poor? Maybe he is a modern day Robin Hood. If there was a few private foreign companies in the US being taken over as state run, I doubt you would be making this much of a fuss.
  20. What an incredibly slanted headline. As if it were written by a Chavez employed propagandist. Wait you are confusing me. The headline is slanted but ... propaganda.... ?? Well from that article you would have read this bit... So your 'propaganda' is just a known fact about the country. So what are you trying to pull here? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6610333.stm Seems like Bolivia is doing the same thing as venezuela. So why are you people not complaining about that country as well??
  21. Let me show you the flaw in your agrument. If you walked up to my house and carries out any possesions you would be shot on site. Venezuela is not your home. The US is (assumption for sake of agrument) From the article posted So this is the cash flow you were talking about? Seems like many of those dollars would just end up in the Big Oil's pockets. Recall that many of the US oil companies have posted record profits consecutively for the past few years. And I bet for sure none of those dollars Big Oil gets directly help you out in any way shape or for aside from gouging you at the gas pump to power your fuel inefficient SUV. So is Chavez really stealing from the US? Or just taking back what big oil has raped for many previous years?? Again, Venezuela has different rules, not our country. So not much we can do about that. Unless you really want to link Chavez with the next terror attack in the US, then we can Iraq it up and take all that back, and leave nothing for Venezuela. Fuck em, let them starve .. right? Chavez is a theif in his own home.
  22. What you mean to say is that, Chavez is keeping the money within Venezuela's borders and not giving any more money to the fat cats who siffon the profits and not give anything back to the country it is taking it from. If we link Chavez to the next terrorist attack on the mainland US, then that situation can be changed.
  23. http://www.americanthinker.com/2005/07/abo..._of_yellow.html Oh cause the crap is 10 years old? I guess to Bush, 10 yrs is 'recent'. So why did this not hit MSM if it was so important?
  24. So where are those WMDs? Where are the large caches of biological weapons? Yellow cake from Nigeria? Saddam and Al Queda? Sorry, ignore all of the above, it is about freedom right? I knew from the start that Iraq was going to be a debacle for the Bush Administration. Hell it is going to be a debacle for the next administration as well. A lie is a lie is a lie. The closed minded Right cannot get a grip on this. Apologists if I ever saw them. But we are making progress in Iraq, correct?? Lying about the wiretaps is enough in my eye to impeach, or at least get the ball rolling. You have so many 'incompitent' people in the current Administration it is easy to pick out the sane one among the bunch. If there were any sane people in the current Administration. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED ... uh huh. !!! SURGE IS WORKING !!! ARMY GENERAL SAYS THEY NEED TO INCREASE MILITARY NUMBERS !!! I guess the Right see so much grey areas when they really want to. But remember, terrorists want to kill us and our way of life. And remember, Bush was not that concerned with Osama untill after the attacks happened. Tenet had warned them. Eventhough I don't care for Tenet much, the interview on 60 Minutes showed to me how pissed Tenet was for the administration not listening to him. He did not have slam dunk evidence. And eventually Colin Powell was left out to dry. I can say he technicly lied on a few things, but then I would get slandered by the Right when they have been found out as hypocrites.
  25. Television broadcasters have mastered the art of video editing, mixing and montage. They feed the viewer but do not waste the viewer's time. The broadcaster provides a focussed summary or point of view. Editing mixing and montage. Feeding me is wasting my time. Educating me and giving me all the raw details lets me decide what I think is really going on. Since there really is no form of investigative journalism, the news is really not being reported. I'd say Blog sites like Crooks and Liars attempt to do the job, but often it is rehashed stuff from the MSM. Some editorials with opinions. Hmm sounds like most MSM out there. Some of us want more information than the MSM gives us. So sites like Youtube and Google Videos provide another souce of information for us. MSM should not pick and choose what stories to hype the shit out of. As of late the MSM has played the VA Tech shootings over and over and over again till we are sick of them. But other things have happened that are important, but get pushed to the side. Like George Tenant's story of the Pre-War-Intelligence, showing how the Bush admin cooked the books. Other sites, other video, other pictures can show you much much more than the little sound-bites the MSM playes over and over again. CNN's Headline News and CBC's Newsnet are samples of this 'easily digested, we tell you what is what' news coverage. Hell most articles that are reference here on MLW from sites like CNN, CBC, BBC, FOX, CBS, all use wire services like Reuters and AP for their articles. So it is the same thing just proliferated around like a cheap whore. Everyone uses the same article in their news sites, references AP or Reuters, and tries to take it as their own coverage. Shameful. So other media helps us understand more than what the MSM can give us. Some of us are not satisfied with how the MSM covers things. I will continue to use alternate videos/sites/pics to help support my point when posting here on MLW.
