  1. Gender is not important.
  2. It is the internet. Garek: Why Doctor, it is all true. Bashir: Even the lies? Garek: Especially the lies
  3. I used to go to a store called Princess Auto. They didn't sell autos and not even princesses.
  4. What makes you think people do not understand that?
  5. I do not hate former President Trump. It is normally inappropriate for non-Americans to tell Americans how to vote. The problem is, the former President is promising to pull support from Ukraine, which will lead to a Putin victory and a second Holodomor. The second concern for the world is former President Trump's promised policies to undo what are already inadequate measures to fight climate change. If the Americans want to live under President Trump, that is their concern. But as the most powerful and influential nation in the world whose actions have severe consequenses for the rest of us, you can understand our reaction.
  6. Not the first time. There was that little scuffle in 1860.
  7. You seem to be contradicting yourself. She was referring to Ambassador Abuamora, the Chief Representative of the Palestinian Delegation in Canada, representing the Palestinian Authority. It is not a terrorist organization. Hamas and Hezbollah are the terrorist organizations. Okay, I can't argue with that. Even you are right occasionally. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.😉 It is ironic. On the day I was born, a terrorist group called Irgun, murdered some British soldiers in Jerusalem. The leader of the terrorists was a man called Menachem Begin. Later in life, he became Prime Minister of Israel and won the Nobel Peace Prize jointly with a man who had been a spy for Germany in WW2 in Egypt, later to become President of Egypt...Anwar Sadat. Terrorist one day, statesman for peace another.
  8. I'm skeptical. Since I am not stupid enough to click on an unknown link, the OP lacks context. Coud you please be so kind as to add some background. Do you have a reputible source? Who is this Palestinian "leader?" What exactly did she say? What did she mean?
  9. I haven't been able to get an answer so I was wondering if you could enlighten me. What did Vice President say exactly that rejected Jesus?

A Christian yells "Jesus is Lord!"

A Christian would have answered, "amen."

Instead, Harris said, "Oh, you guys are at the wrong rally. No, I think you meant to go to the smaller one down the street."

It's like telling them to take a hike, "you take your Jesus with you to that smaller rally where He belongs."

Of course, it comes in the heels of another controversy when her comrade Gretchen Whitmer posted a Dorito shot that went viral - mocking the holy Communion.

Thank you for the explanation. 👍Perhaps she thought it was a heckler from the opposition. As a Baptist, she didn't reject Jesus, just what she thought was a heckler.

      Could be.

But, serves a lesson that a candidate has to be very careful  since words can easily be taken out of context.

Trump can witness to that.  :)

  10. Christianity is merely one of the Zoroastrian family of religions and the Zoroastrian school of theology is very recent. Humans, including Neanderthals, have whorshipped God for at least 100,000 years, probably much longer than that. Our current religions are all less than 8000 years old. There have probably been thousands of different religions prior to our current faiths. The problem is, we cannot define God. God is not Him or Her. God is beyond our comprehension. God is managing over 28 Trillion stars, just in our observable part of the universe. There is no evidence that Jesus existed. The same with Moses. That is why we have faith. We believe in things without evidence. On the other hand, the evidence of God is overwhelming. Just look at the structure of a cell or an eye or a galaxy cluster.
  11. That statement is about as anti-Jesus as you can get. We are supposed to Love God, not fear It. Jesus taught us to love one another, including the heathen, regardless of their cleanliness.
  12. Could you at least provide some commentary. I'm not stupid enough to click on some unknown link.
  13. Some of the revelations in the Foreign interferance inquiry were in the pre-testimonial interviews. One of the revelations referred to the "explosive" classified information surrounding the last CPC leadership convention. Put that together with Mr. Poilievre's fear of the consequenses of applying for clearance. His claims that it would rob him of opportunity for a "gotcha" one liner, seems preposterous. His accusation that the Prime Minister lied under oath at the inquiry is equally preposterous, since the Commissioner has similar clearence to the evidence as the Prime Minister and would know if the testimony was untrue. Why is the leader of the CPC afraid to apply for clearance? If I were prone to speculate, one possible explanation is that if he applied, he may be turned down. If his application were declined because he is a security risk, it would be embarrassing. It may not disqualify him from being appointed Prime Minister. Pierre Trudeau was the subject of the Featherbed file, yet was still appointed PM. Yet, Mr. Poilievre continues to ignore the warnings that refusing a security clearance puts him and his party at risk. My suggestion that he is compromised is probably off base, but he has yet to give a truthful explanation for his fear. He is already assured of being appointed Prime Minister in 11 short months. I have to wonder why is he in such a panic to get an early election? What revelation is he afraid of?
  14. It is not the percentage represented in the popular vote polls that counts. It is how they manifest as seats. 338 Canada shows the CPC with 43% of the popular vote and the Grits with 22%. That leaves the Socreds in a minority position. But the seat count gives the CPC / Socreds with 228 seats and the Liberals with 53 seats. The Bloc polls at 8% popular vote but that comes out at 42 seats. So, if the election were held on Oct. 6, 2024, Mr. Poilievre would have the greatest majority in history. Given that the House of Commons recently voted non-confidence in Mr. Poilievre, there is no mystery as to why the other parties wish to prevent the CPC tsunami for as long as possible. Both the NDP and the Bloc have stated they do not want Pierre Poilievre being appointed First Minister. They would prefer the current ministry to a Socred one.
  15. The party John Rustad is leading not anything like the BC Progressive Conservative Party I ran for under the leadership of Scott Wallace. It is not the party of Darrill Warren, whom I supported in the 1971 leadership convention. I am not a psychiatrist so it would be inappropriate to say Mr. Rustad is nuts.
  16. Since all of the opposition parties voted for it, plus several Grits, Trudeau should implement it and let the CPC government pay for it. "It is the will of Parliament." 😁
  17. Just a correction...the last communist who sat in the House of Commons was Fred Rose when he was expelled in 1947.
  18. Mr. Poilievre can afford to make a political issue out of the NDP leader's pension. Pierre has his pension and it is double or triple Mr. Singh's pension. The CPC has just voted for a huge increase in the deficit as they crawled into bed with the separatists. It will be interesting to see how Pierre intends to pay for it when he is appointed Prime Minister. Having voted for the increase to the OAS, he is committed to it.
  19. I don't know where this CPC minority idea comes from. The seat count for the CPC is predicted to be 220 seats. That is one of the largest majorities in history. It rivals Diefenbaker and Mulroney's super majorities. The CPC has maintaines over 200 seats since Feb. 11, 2024 and is unlikely to drop below 200 before an election 11 months from now. An early election is not in any party's interest except for the CPC.
  20. For the Bloc, they want to represent Quebecers and Quebecers don’t appear to like the CPC. The NDP want programs like pharmacare and dental care. If the government falls before they get Royal Accent, those programs will die.
  21. Both leaders of the splinter parties have said they do not want Mr. Poilievre and to be Prime Minister. That is a vote of non confidence in him. The NDP, the Bloc, the Greens and the Grits are all progressive parties. Why would they want a government in office that opposes everything they stand for? As for power, nobody in Parliament is more hungry for power than Mr. Poilievre.
  22. Parliament is about to vote no confidence in Mr. Poilievre. It appears every Member of Parliament outside the CPC caucus will be voting, not to support the Government, but to express their lack of confidence in the CPC and its leader. I've known guys like Mr. Poilievre when I was active in the Progressive Conservative Student Federation in the early 1970's. Most of us grew up after university. When we went to work at the bank or law firm, or construction company, we didn't carry a briefcase full of pretend briefing papers. We left out childhood toys and fantasies behind when we left campus. Mr. Poilievre never grew up. He is still living in his "let's pretend world." Unfortunately, a year from now he will receive the instruments of office as Prime Minister and he will be forced to make grown up decisions. He will have to figure out how to handle the price on carbon. He has campaigned on the promise to "axe the tax." He will have to come up with a replacement. Premier Moe faced the same question and had to admit that the carbon tax was cheaper than any of the other alternatives. The most likely alternative is he will bring in rationing. Over the long term, transitioning to nuclear power is by far, the best solution, but that takes time and we have run out of time. We needed to do that in the 1970's. Rationing is the alternative that will bring down our carbon emissions but it is very expensive. He will have to deal with the on going aftermath of the pandemic. He will also have the war with Russia and the impact that is having with the global economy. He will have to deal with the need to put significant funding into DND. Where will he get the money? He will likely have to deal with a hostile American Congress and Administration. His predecessor built a multi-partisan team to successfully defend NAFTA in the last round of negotiations. Does Mr. Poilievre have the temperment to do that, considering his tendency to alienate people? He will win a super majority next year. His honeymoon in office will be measured in hours, not months. His reality is going to be brutal.
  23. The CPC should wait because JT will not get any more popular and it is always better to be in opposition. After the election, they are going to have to govern and they will find out they will have to continue the policies of the grits because governments do not have much choice when it comes to decision making and they will have to explain why they can’t keep their promises. They will cancel the carbon tax but will need to replace it with something worse. The worst thing they will have to deal with is the Trump administration. That will be Mr. Poilievre‘s biggest nightmare.
  24. I meant the CPC doesn’t need to have an election this fall. They are guaranteed a big majority so what is the rush? They have loads of money and support. Use the time to refine their message into realistic policy. They need to be aware that the voters are not going to be voting for them, but rather voting against the grits.
