  1. Harper has stayed the coarse. No real plan for the economy. Get tough on crime with out explaining where he plans on get the money from(What is the cost of throwing 14 year olds in jail),His only plan is trying too eliminate the LIBERALS by bankrupting them(instead of proving he is the better option), and trying to eliminate the senate or any one else that gets in his way.
  2. Smart move make the point that they plan to model themselves off the Bush government by cutting business taxes and ignoring the environment. That will certainly get them elected. Maybe Harper should explain too the electorate how an economic policy that has gone horribly wrong in the states is some how going to work in Canada. How CEO (whose only interest is short term profits so they can pad their bonuses and have zero concern for the workers or share holders) are some how going to me corporate responsible in Canada. Business with out regulation is chaos. If a business is able to function with 100 employees and he gets more money to run his business he still will have 100 employees because that is all he needs. If you cut the taxes of the employees they will buy more therefore business will hire so that they can produce more product. The business will be doing better because there is more of a demand for there product and the workers are able too have an improved standard of living.

  4. They do not pledge their allegiance to the British Queen they pledge their allegiance to Queen Elizabeth II who acts as both the British Queen and the Canadian Queen. Trudeau had our constitution repatriated so we have not been under England for quite some time.
  5. 'I Believe In Open' is a project of VisibleGovernment.ca, a newly established non-partisan, non-profit organization promoting online tools for government transparency in Canada. Excellent cause I joined.
  6. The conservatives candidate in my area on his web site said he is against crime and mentioned nothing about any other issue. He refuses to participate in any public forum. He is not from this riding and was brought in thinking people might vote for his name.
  7. http://www.conservapedia.com/Stephen_Harper Stephen harper is generally considered to have socially conservative views on most issues.

  9. http://homelessnation.org/node/4062 The homeless are often neglected(Maybe the who cares if they get a vote attitude). Some of them may not be legally in Canada and for obvious reasons can not vote. But they are legally allowed to vote if they are a Canadian citizen over the age of 18. If you do not have proof of residence you can be vouched for. http://www.elections.ca/content.asp?sectio...y=false#voting2
  10. Where can we get a sense of what our candidates are all about. How they can stand up to questioning. In the house of parliment he/she will have to stand up and speak and be questioned.

  12. Queen Elizabeth II is the Queen of England and she is the Queen of Canada. We have not been under England since 1982. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution_of_Canada Being The Queen of Canada is like a second job and totally separate from her job of Queen of England.
  13. White Door I think you realize that the conservatives are pushing too be ultra right wing are quite happy with that. But it is important for voters to realize that they are not the Joe Clark Proggressive Conservatives they are the Harper's (Reform party).
  14. You are welcome to give him any unbiased sourse of information you want. The information their does not contradict any information I have found elsewhere.
  15. If I have excess money beyond what I put aside for savings I spend it. It really doesn't matter whether the money came from income tax reductions or GST reductions.
  16. Every party appreciates law and order issues. Parties do not agree on how too deal with the problem. You can legislate all the laws you want but we do not have a judical sytem that takes advantage of the laws we have now.
  17. Most of us have a problem with where some of the money gets spent. If governments were more transparent the public could help identify the misspending. Every party seems too promise more transparency and instead they become more secretive when they get into government.
  18. It is a ceremonial position. Part of the Canadian culture. We celebrate all countries culture in Canada. Be Proud of who you are and proud of the country you call home.
  19. http://www.monarchist.ca/new/docs/costofcrown.html These are old numbers but this might give people and idea of how much the monarchy costs us. These cost would still be there if we had had some other representative as our head of state. If we changed our system there would be a cost to implementing the changes. Our system works why change it?
  20. Most informed voters look into the backgrounds of all the party leaders and candidates. Certainly you do not just take the word of a politician. There is a long history of politicians being caught doing unethical behaviour. Check out what happened to the Devine government which destroyed the conservatives is Saskatchewan. You do not discard the whole parties because of the actions of a few. Just like their is in the general population each party will have people that are less the honest. There is a huge movement now to stop Harper. It is not aimed at the Conservatives. Many of us would consider voting conservatives if some one like Joe Clark was in charge. By all means do your homework on all of them.
  21. Here is a good place to start. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Harper Study who Stephen Harper is and who the people were who mentored him. The more reading you do the more you understand who Harper is. I was going to give you other links but some one will say it was written by a Liberal. It Appears that every author or journalist that does not have "this article has been approved by Harper" is a Liberal. If you really want too know the answer its there. Do not believe everything you read but the groups he belonged to and the people he looked up too should give you a good idea who he is.
  22. Vandalising cars should not be a political issue. Their are nuts in in all parties. I do not believe that canada has digressed too the point that parties are involved in vandalism. Individual lunacy should not change the way people vote.
  23. You are lucky the conservative in our area will not even take part in a debate.
  24. Please show me a link to where it says where HARPER got his money from for his leadership run.
