I never heard any Liberal suggest they are trying to be left leaning. They are against raising corporate taxes. They are a center to right of center party with a social conscience. The stockmarket is important to nearly every Canadian. Any one with a pension fund realises the importance of stocks. All parties support business it just that some parties tend to regulate business more than others. The NDP are usually more than willing to hand out millions to corporations to create jobs. I do not want to pick on any individuals but their are plenty of business people that have made millions from government handouts. The NDP try to create a stabilized business environment. Harper supports an unregulated business environment. Trusting they will be good corportate citizens. He figures business should be created and fail as the free market system dictates. This is difficult for employees who get laid off and have to find new skills and new jobs. The Liberal and old Progressive conservatives usually took a position some where in between. Business and stockmarkets are big part of all of are lives regardless of what party we belong too. It is just a matter of how much government involvement is needed too make our system run well.

None of the parties should resort to vandalism. That is not a political issue. It is simply wrong for anyone to resort to those types of tactics.
-
For what reason do the corporations prefer the Liberal party over the conservatives? AS far as I know Harper has yet too tell people where he got all his money from to run for leader?(But what do you expect from a politian that campaigns on openness.
-
Check out graph for leader popularity. Dion went from a low of around 10% to over 20% for who would make the best PM. Harper went from a high of around 40% to a low of 32%.
-
It proves no such thing. It depends on whether you want quality jobs or a bunch of low paying no benefit type of jobs where companies make a lot of money and have no corporate responsibily. I believe for a system to work well you need some checks and balances. The amount of checks and balances needed is what seperates one government from another. Bush economics failed. Russian near total government control failed. You need some balance some where in between.
-
Not at all scary if you prescribe to the ultra right wing way of doing that. Even the NDP back free enterprise, speech and government accountability.

Election predictor with vote splitting. http://predictor.hillandknowlton.ca/predic...2C1%3A0&r=0 A Liberal - NDP Coalition government?
-
Your absolutely right. There is 25 years of Harpers ideas we can look at too see what he is up too. We do not need a platform.
-
You forgot to mention the conservative platform. You are a Tory. Sell us on their platform. You sound like an opposition party that is the position to be negative. What good can we possiblily get from the Tories. Anybody can make negatives comments. You have to look at things as a whole. How the positives and the negatives balance out.

http://www.househunting.ca/buying-homes/st...b3-939b58c5f71a Well aware thanks. I see a lot of young people going in way over their heads and they think there is nothing wrong with that. It is only years later when they find all their payments start catching up too them. Vehicles need replacing. Repairs have too be made. Fridge quits on them. etc. Our lending institutions are being iresponsible and the government should be concerned. You are doing nothing too help the tories cause with your sarcasm.

Misconceptions about LPC in the West
independent replied to BC_chick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Do't tell Quebec that they are blaming Dion. If they realize it was Harper he will lose support. -
Interest quote from Harper on your link. "I do not think by funtimental beliefs have changed in the last 20 years." That is when he headed the Right Wing National Citizens Coalition. http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/parliame...r-mulroney.html So if you want to know what Harpers beliefs are google National citizens Coalition. He is not hiding any kind of an agenda. He told us back in 2006 what he is all about. Too me in means the Americanization of Canada. I hope everybody does the research and find out for themselves who Harper is. Some peoples hate for the Chreitien Liberals have distracted them from using their head and picking the best party that represents what we believe in. I am very proud to be a Canadian and have no desire to become Americanized. ********** If you love Canada do the research and stop the idea of voting out of spite because of some politian nolonger in politics.*******

Do people vote with their head?
independent replied to independent's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
http://ca.lifestyle.yahoo.com/family-relat...g-like-a-parent Should we use our heads and vote like a parent? Are the polititians acting like adults? -
Are not able bodied people that are offered jobs not cut off welfare? http://www.youth.gc.ca/yoaux.jsp?&lang...p;auxpageid=118 Found quite a few reports about government attempts to deal with people on welfare. I know even walmart( even though they are very short of people) seem to turn what seem like able bodied people away because they do not meet their standards. I know one company turned away a qualified applicant because he said he tried marijuana.(I guess he should have lied). How many companies are there that hire someone off of welfare. Do you hire someone who under work experience says I have been on welfare for 10 years. The easys way too reduce the people on welfare is to make sure people do not need to go on welfare on the first place. People need the jobs and the skills too get thoughs jobs. Companies do not want too train people they want to bring people in from other countries with the skills required rather than train the people we have.

You have a problem with women. News reports are suggesting she did just fine in the debate. The poles have had her as high as 12% of the popular vote. She has every right too be there.
-
Harper can not operate in a vacuum. I hope you are looking at Harpers team. He was very hard pressed to come up with ministers last time.
-
Minorities work quite well. It keeps parties from doing anything stupid just for politically idealogy instead of what is best for the country.

Liberals under Dion are running as a team. I am sure Ignatieff has a big part in the decision making. Those that speak French seem to have a much higher regard for Dion. He did lose some support in Quebec because he stood up too them when he was a minister of interprovincial affairs. That is usually considered a good thing by the rest of canada.

Harper accused of plagiarizing Harris speech
independent replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The problem is Harper does not have any originality. Everything he says has to be written for him. The Conservatives are trying too pass Harper off as a leader. Leaders get quoted. Leaders do not have to repeat what everybody says. If you ask Harper anything he does not have a speech memorized for he has nothing to say. Duceppe is probably the only one of the five with leadership qualities. -
Undecided has been growing. When asked secondary choices conservatives are seldom the responsive so they are unlikely too gain ground. The green party and NDP have gained support. But in the end a lot of people vote too make sure a certain party does not get in. The conservatives are starting to lose a lot of ground in Quebec of late and seem more concerned at attacking the Liberals instead of going after the PQ.
-
The governments have a responsibily to make sure the people do not overextend themselves. Allowing people too get a mortgage for more than what it is worth with zero down is irresponsible. Young people do not know the ramifications for they seldom look that far down the road. Government can set limits on what people can borrow and require lending institutions to abide by that. Share holders in lending institutions should be asking the government too make sure people are not overextending themselves. Instead the governments often encourage borrowing as meaning of stimulating the economy. It is the governments responsibily because they are quaranteeing peoples deposits in the banks.

Harper strategy is too destroy the Liberal Party. By destroying the Liberal party he feels he can move further too the right. There will be no other party that would appeal to voters too the right of center where most voters are. He never expected to get a majority. There was nothing in the poles to suggest that. What he does know is the Liberals are very short of cash and can not afford an election every couple of years. By calling an election now the Liberals will use up the war chest in another year or two he will ask for another election and another until the Liberals basically become bankrupt. The war of attrition. The Conservatives have the resourses too go to the electorate every couple of years. He will continue too attack the liberals and Dion as a person trying too reduce the contributions given to the Liberal party.

I read the posts in the last 9 hours or so And found little worth commenting about. There is a lot of stretching going on. Moonbox if you vote for Harper it will be for reasons that make sense. Some of the other poster seem too be living in a fantasy world but more than likely just trolling. Best Wishes hope you make the right choice.

http://article.wn.com/view/2008/09/20/Team...Is_it_overkill/ Dion is now traveling with top liberals that warm up the crowd for him. This article asked the question "Is it Overkill?.
