Conservative mismanagement in Alberta
independent replied to independent's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I have family and friends in Alberta that have a much different idea than you. If you have read the article and still have the same opinion I quess nothing is going to change your mind. If a Wealthy province like Alberta can not be in better shape its too bad. -
Do people vote with their head?
independent replied to independent's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
http://www.canada.com/windsorstar/news/bus...7f-b6ff22f8bf92 Overspending is not an issue. The canadian government has had 11 straight surplus. It has become expected in Canada and no government would dare change that. Any mention of any party running a deficit is fear tactics and has no bases in fact. If the government has to cut back I hope it will not be at the expense of the low income Canadian who work very hard for there money. -

Conservative mismanagement in Alberta
independent replied to independent's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Would you please read the article before commenting. Stelmach was leaved with huge problems that should never have happened. Alberta has been poorly managed for years. Of course unemployment is low in Alberta if you have no job there you move away because you can not afford to live there. -
http://www.thestar.com/columnists/article/266580 If Harper runs the country any where near as bad as Alberta we are in trouble. Uncharging Oil companies and waste their wealth. If the conservatives can not run an oil rich province like Alberta how can they run Canada.

My wife buys my cloths and I have no problem with that. She is a lot better at picking out cloths and she likes shopping. She also took over the financing years ago at my suggestion so she had a better understanding of what is going on. I think it is great for marriages if you do things for each other. Beside have you never heard the saying behind ever great man their is even a greater women. What goes on in the home has nothing to do with what goes on outside of it.

Dumb Remark of the Day - 2008
independent replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You have been HARPERIZED you have to resort to personal attacks instead of talking about issues. Harpers adds had zero content and were just personal attacks on Dion. It his right to state the facts. It would be nice if Harper would start doing the same thing. -
Do people vote with their head?
independent replied to independent's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
NEVER MIND THE CONSERVATIVE HISTORY. That's what is happening and that is why this country is going to be in trouble. -
The progressive conservatives were central-right. Joe Clark was central-right. Harper and most of his candidates are ex reform alliance members. Conservatives want you to ignore there history pretend that suddenly they have seen the light and suddenly became more central in their thinking. Harper wants you to trust that he and his candidates have suddenly changed. If people fall for his deception they deserve the bush like government they will get for the next 5 years.

You are completly ignoring what Dion has been saying and instead mentioning Harpers fabrications. The key promise by Dion is that he will keep a balanced budget. Any expenditures would have to wait till the money is there. It is important that people start looking at the history of the conservative members and looking at the facts. Again if the money is not there the money will not be spent is a key part of the Liberal platform. -
You are completely ignoring history. The conservatives are made up of reform and alliance members that did not think the PCs were to the right enough. The NDP candidates all feel the Liberals are too far too the right. You can not really believe that every single candidate has changed his thinking. During an election they can say anything they want. After the election the spots will change.

Every time the Conservatives hammer the Liberals they move votes over to the NDP. The majority of people will never support an ultra right wing party that conservatives are leaning towards. That will eventually put the NDP in power. Its only keeping the Liberals in the middle splitting the center and left wing votes that the conservatives have any chance of staying in power. If the Conservatives goal is to drive the country further to the left by eliminating the center they are doing a good job. Conservatives<<<<<<< nothing in the middle >>>>>>>>>>>>NDP The Conservative are trying very hard to divide the country in two. Harpers Legacy will be to fractionalize the country.

What do they mean by "Decisive Action?"
independent replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
http://www.canadaeast.com/news/article/418658 There is all kinds of news coverage on Minister Ritz several mistakes in judgement. Its not just the NDP or the Liberals that think Ritz should Quit . We are talking about a Minister of Agriculture on official business not watching what he is saying. The press will not let this go. It will be a distraction to the conservatives. Anyone who supports poor judgement like that should certainly not be in public office. -

http://www.thestar.com/article/502636 "Minister Ritz has repeatly disappointed scientists who work for him during the listeria crisis" institute president MICHELE DEMERS said in a statement. "for sure I was a Tory. Now this is going to change me. No doubt about it." -
What do you know about Dion that would suggest he will not stick to his word? He says he will not spend money he does not have. The Liberals in resent history have shown they can balance a budget. Why would you compare Dion to the right wing Bush should you not compare him to Harper? You make a lot of emotional comments about Dion but you do back anything up. Dion clearly has said will not spend any money he does not have. The other promises are if and when he has the money. A lot would depend on the economy. I,ve never had the chance of meeting Dion but the people I know that have come away very impressed. He seems to be a very smart man with a good team behind him.

Legalize Marijuana and Prostitution

Unfortunately not everybody is like you claim to be. There are some good companies out there where unions are not needed because the workers are treated fairly. Unfortunately we are not in a utopia and most employers are not like that. I am having a little problem with your credibility though. The Liberals when Paul Martins was the Finance minister did a good job balacing the budget. Far better that the conservatives. Dion says that he would continue with sound financial policies. You are going to say he cannot be trusted but you have no bases for that. If you were a business person you would not be cutting the Liberals on how they run a budget. You could talk about how some money was wasted but that is going to happen with government as long as they so stay so secretive. I am glad you are so blessed but what about the millions of people that are not. What about the people that through no fault of their own did not get the skills companies want. There is something wrong when so many people are out of work and companies are complaining there is not enough skilled workers. The big companies seem too think the government has to do everything for them. Instead of buying meals for elected representatives why not go to poorest areas of the cities and talk to them about the real problems in this country. They would probably invite you in and feed you. There are a lot of nice people trying to do there best to raise there kids but the money and the support is not there. -
We know who Harper thinks he is
independent replied to independent's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Wonderful maybe you can share some of these wonderful ideas they are afraid to bring public. There are good and wonderful people in all the parties. That is why I prefer to vote for the person instead of the party. There are good people in the press as well. Most journalist are interested in the truth. When you go to lunch with these elected representatives make sure they are not telling you one thing but doing another. You ask around you may find they are good at sucking up to the person they are talking too. They are good at putting on a good public face. -
That is because the conservatives would not being able to sell it to public. I do not think there is any secret manifesto. Just right wing leanings that they are afraid to put forward to the public. You must know some of the Conservatives that used to be members of the Reform party. Do you not think they would like to implement some of those ideas if they could? Every politition not just the conservatives have ideas that they do not bring foward because they cannot sell it to the public. So in that way everybody has a hidden agenda.

Stephane Dion, A new tax you will all LOVE to pay
independent replied to TCCK's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Are you suggesting the Conservatives will not be looking for raises. Now that would be a promise I could go along with. You can find all kinds of examples of government money being poorly spent. Not only by the Liberals but the Progressive Conservatives. The big part of the problem is the Ministers themselves are often not aware of where the money is spent or money is rerouted to buy votes. Harper promised more accountability but instead became a more secretive government. I do not see any government doing what is needed. They all get in there and are so worried that mistakes will get out they keep everything secretive. I am sorry to hear there are still people out there who want to do nothing about the environment. Maybe there are much better ideas out there to deal with the environment. Harper seems to want to keep his blinders on and ignore the seriousness of the problem. -
Liberal Promises top $80,000,000,000 and still counting
independent replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What history book are you reading. If I were running a business I would try to mazimise my profits. Why would I hire more people than I need to run it. Companies these day do not spend any more money on infrastructure that required. You are sounding like a business man who wants more money in his pocket. -
This election should never been called.
independent replied to independent's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The Liberals just stood by letting the Conservatives make themselves look bad. No one stopped Harper from governing. Harper just seems to be a control freak that just does not want to work within the rules of parliment. He does not even want to follow his own laws. -
The Conservatives did not lose a vote of non confidence. No one stopped the Conservatives from governing. The Conservatives have been afraid to step forward with there real ideas. We really do not know what they stand for. The Progressive Conservatives are dead. I was a big supporter of Joe Clark. Harper in no way comes close to being the quality individual that Joe was. Most of the Conservatives come from the ashes of the Alliance and reform parties. Seems to me we were getting a lot of crap from them. Harper acted cowardly by not stepping forward with his real agenda and then the Liberals would have been forced to vote against the government. Then we would have had a reason for this election.
