Activist group heads to court to stop federal election
independent replied to stignasty's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
http://article.wn.com/view/2008/09/23/Dion..._out_coalition/ Dion said he can not work with Layton because Layton wants to raise corporate taxes which he feels would ruin the economy. So I would suggest that a coalition could still happen if Layton agreed to certain preconditions. -
I fully agreed that if you are able bodied and work is available for you should not be getting welfare. I am totally unaware of any one that meets that description. I have heard the kids on the street with signs do make a lot of money but they are not on welfare. They do it because they make more money doing that than getting a job. You are doing the right thing by offering them a job instead of giving them money.

Stephen Harper is not a nice man!
independent replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The Liberals did the right thing. They respected the Canadian voter. The public voted in Harper and he deserved a chance to govern. The public does not want an election every couple of years. Of course if the Canadian public started to want a change they would have voted against Harper. Do you think the Canadian public wanted a change? What party would be stupid enough to call an election at this time when the public clearly did not want one? Why would the Liberals want to go to the polls just to get another minority government that was working perfectly fine the way it was. -

You are too busy yelling to listen. The Liberals had no intention of voting against the Conservatives. There is not enough money in their war chest to withstand elections every couple of years. They were quite content too wait out the four years. -
The PQ COULD get 9% of the popular vote and get 40 seats. The green party could get 10% of the popular vote and get 0 seats.

Harper's plagiarized 2003 Iraq speech

Since you are not being deliberately dishonest can you back up this claim with some evidence. It sure does not match my memory of things. -

Ken Dryden was one of the liberal leadership candidates and has served in cabinet. What he says carries a lot of weight. He came out and said the obvious. Harper should have stuck with the tough leader image it suited him better. It is always better to present your best attributes. You try to change your image for an election people are going to read right through it. -
Harper says no to anti poverty video.
independent replied to independent's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
None of the candidates in my area or surrounding area are in the debate. National debates are great. A lot of people vote for the party. Maybe even most but for us who look closely at the candidates in my area it becomes difficult to make an informed vote. I did not debate with you on this thread because you agreed with me that Harper has no policy too deal with the poverty in this country. I started the thread to see what posters thought about the article. It was not useless to me. I found out what I wanted to know. -

Just a little clarification in regards to the Conservatives not wanting too debate. They really do not want to debate. Not in our area or any of the surrounding areas. They do not want to debate party platforms. I will carry on now with all my silly and useless threads. I let them do the talking for me. -
Harper's plagiarized 2003 Iraq speech
independent replied to myata's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Just a little point of interest. The majority of Canadians have not come out it favour of the conservatives. It is highly unlikely they will get over 50% of the popular vote. In fact if you ask the average guy on the street they will tell you none of the parties can be trusted. The negative cut throat politics is alienating the general public. It is certainly not right for the Liberals to do it and it is not right for the Conservatives to do it. Your clear exagerations will do nothing too help the conservative cause. -

Maybe you should apply for the Job of Harpers speech writer. No one could accuse you of plagerism. -

If you read the comment section in the links you provided you will find the explanation of why it is not plagerism. But of course you knew that already. Since it was political in nature and not (a paper a Prof would write) it would not of hurt to be more specific about where the information came from. -

I posted a news article talking about the election. I did not make one comment. None of the conservatives in our area are willing to debate I do not know if that means anything to anyone either. I know my neighbour a long time tory supporter took his vote conservative sign down. If the conservatives have nothing to say that is their right I quess. attacking me will not make Harper and his supporters look any nicer. -

Sure glad you are not in power. We would be attacking a lot of countries. There is no way Canada should get involved in anything of the kind with out our own evidence. Harper should not have spoken on the matter at all. He spoke with out any real knowledge of the situation. -

He was in opposition how much worse will it be if he gets back in as PM. He has nobody to blame but himself. It is the oppositions job too point out screw ups to the electorate. -

What do they mean by "Decisive Action?"
independent replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Their is no one out their with an unbiased opinion. You have to look at both sides and see which one makes the most sense. Or see if it needs further investigation. Often when their are problems their are all kinds of warnings signs we have ignored. -
Canada is in not that bad of shape. None of the PMs did permanent damage to the country. They all had their faults and their gifts. Some of them did stay in to long and they started to get arrogant. As long as they realize who put them in and listen too the people they are adequate. As soon as they start working on there own agenda or start paying off political debts that is when the problems start.

http://www.canadians.org/wordwarriors/2008/aug-28.html Here is another site with more information where you can ignore information especially about the firing of the whistle blower. You keep closing your eyes too the facts you will not be able to make an informed opinion. And what is worse your misinformation will deter others from making an informed position so I hope people will read the post and decide for themselves what is believable and what is not.
