  1. Are you suggesting it is more Honorable too put the needs of your party ahead of the needs of the country. I will vote for the best interest of the country.
  2. 30 days is necessary because their is a transition time because Harper needs time too shred all his secret documents and a new cabinet has too be sworn in etc. It would not make sense too come up with a precise plan till his finance minister is in place.
  3. Gm was one of the riches corporations in the world. They were protected for years by tariffs. Foreign auto makers were making far better cars and GM gained a bad reputation for quality. When Tariffs were removed they lost market share too Foreign auto makers. They have far too many makes and divisions. There part suppliers are all over the place resulting in high cost of transportation. GM spent money investing in Hummer and gas guzzling vehicles instead of looking ahead at the market and building more fuel efficient vehicles. Right now at my local dealer they have half a lot of trucks they can not sell and you have too wait to get their more fuel efficient vehicles they finally got onto the market. You certainly can blame things on the Union but it is totally unfair to say that they are the only ones to blame.
  4. You have got to vote for your believes. (If you care for the environment) The worst thing that could happen is letting Harper get in. The Green party has the integrity to look after the best interests of Canada and not just their own self interest. I cannot vote Green this year but they are certainly gaining my respect. ****A Vote Against Harper is a vote for Canada and its environment****
  5. You know a lot of corporations are foreign owned. You know not everything they make goes back into the Canadian economy. You know that income from employees mostly goes back into the Canadian economy You know it costs us millions in infrastructure so the Corporations can stay in business. Corporate welfare is not very popular in Canada.(You will never sell that idea). There is not a direct correlation between taxes and employment. If Taxes are so high that in cuts into their minimum profit threshold then they will find it not worth staying in business. If Taxes are so low that they are costing more in infrastructure than we are getting back in taxes from the employed people then we are better off not having the business. The company that I work for is already making all kinds of after tax profit. If taxes were dropped there would not be one extra person hired because they run on the policy of employing the minimum amount of employees required. Since most of the shareholders are foreign based most of the money saved would be leaving the country.
  6. Harper predicting either a Liberal or Conservative Minority government. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canadavotes/story/2...ay.html?ref=rss
  7. When there is a change of government there is a transition time. HARPER needs time to shred all his secret documents.
  8. Macleans get mailed out before the posted date. Here is an earlier article online. http://www.macleans.ca/canada/national/art...81001_3411_3411
  9. You think HARPER is a good Leader. You know he needs votes in Quebec. You know Dion's English is not good. You know making fun of a French speaking guy with weak English will not be popular in Quebec. Harper is right for you. An Autocratic leader like Harper is not the kind of leader that I want. Dion is far more attractive as a Leader with his team concept. Thrash his English all you want it will not change anyones mind at this point. Most of us knew his English was not that good for quite a while.
  10. What is your definition of winning. Another Minority government for Harper. A Majority government for Harper. The chances of the Liberals getting a majority government are slim with the left split three ways. A win at this point for the Liberals is keeping Harper from getting a majority government. Every time that Harper slams Dion or Dion messes up(what ever you prefer) the more votes go to the NDP. The only way that Liberals get a majority is by HARPER angering voters in Quebec and Ontario.
  11. QUOTE(independent @ Oct 11 2008, 09:44 AM) The quotes below are from Maclean's oct 13 2008 Edition. "Harper has a Green plan too, though he'd rather not talk about it right now by Andrew Coyne." "In sum, the conservatives plan is just as costly as the Liberals', twice as complicated, and half as effective." "not long ago,Stephen Harper was warning in interviews of the 'very real costs' pf a Conservative plan to cut emissions. No longer." "well now it's october,in the middle of an election campaign, and Stephen Harper no longer wants to talk about the costs of his environmental plan. Indeed, he never even mentions his plan." According to the article Harper stated his plan in an exclusive article with the Globe and Mail early last year.
  12. Morgages have an allocation of risk. http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/news/st...d21&k=23523 The program lets people with solid credit histories buy homes even if they don't have enough cash to make the standard 5% minimum down payment. Scotia is teaming up with Genworth Financial Canada to offer the program. Genworth will insure the loans and take on the additional risk. Tanya Azarchs, who oversees the credit rating of North American banks at Standard & Poor's in New York, said there is a reputational risk for Scotia. "Can a Canadian bank do the kinds of things you need to do without getting named in the headlines as the bad guy? Like kicking some guy out of his house, those sort of techniques. You've really got to be willing to manage a different way from your ordinary loans," she said. Offering a mortgage with no down payment is inherently risky, because it leaves the issuer vulnerable to declines in housing prices or the economy. If home prices drop or unemployment rises, consumers could choose to walk away from mortgages without paying more than the monthly interest fee.
  13. Just one of me. You have a problem with Maclean's? Sorry didn't check it does not say this article has been approved by HARPER on the bottom. Tryed to access the Globe and Mail on line who had the original exclusive interview with Harper but you need a subscription. Welcome too find out more about HARPER's Green Shift plan yourself. It has suddenly disappeared for the election.
  14. http://www.forces.ca/v3/engraph/resources/..._en.aspx?bhcp=1 You can apply if you are not a citizen of Canada. It seems odd that you would have to give up dual Citizenship.
  15. You said it is a simple question then answer it and proof you are right.
  16. It is supposed to be a simple question why not answer the question so you do not look so foolish.
  17. Maclean's oct 13 2008 Edition. "Harper has a Green plan too, though he'd rather not talk about it right now by Andrew Coyne." "In sum, the conservatives plan is just as costly as the Liberals', twice as complicated, and half as effective."
  18. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...?hub=TopStories How about Harpers finance minister? He is starting to do just what Dion and Layton were telling Harper to do. It sounds like Harper's finance minister is calling Harper a lier.
  19. It varies widely across the country. Wages at Maple leaf took a huge drop and they are unionized. The're are a lot of other examples of other companies where employees had to take huge cuts in pay or lose their job. In Alberta wages had to go way up because of a labour shortage.
  20. Harper was ignoring the reality that people were losing there investments and losing there jobs. He did nothing to reassure them that he will do something too help. Both Dion and Layton assured the public that if elected they would do something to aid the economy. Calming their fears. Harper saying there were good investments out there was not being honest it was being insensitive.
  21. I can not find a link that requires military members too give up there citizenship. When I was in the Reserves we had an American citizen, an Australian and a New Zealander all involved in the Canadian Military.
