Accepting possibilities is a two way street, reducing pollution should be a goal, but unless you want us to turn off the lights or the China's and India's to give up modernizing or cut their population to reduce their emissions the future holds more co2 for all of us. In the end all that matters is that someone is throwing rocks at your house, maybe you deserve it, maybe you don't, but you cannot allow someone to throw rocks at your house, and you have a stockpile of bigger rocks. Do you ignore the rocks (no), do respond by only throwing the same size of rocks back, or do you punish the people who threw the rocks by throwing more and bigger ones back at them (duh). When science is still discorvering important things about climate, like the effects the deep oceans have on temperature, how can anyone say that we know for certain what is happening? If important things are still being discovered it is safe to assume others are yet to be investigated, in that case any attitude of certainty is one more based in beliefs then facts. I would like science to say we aren't sure a lot more often, but when you have a political motivation, a crusade to sell to the masses, one that just might be as important as they believe it to be, you must over reach, and when you do, you will be exposed. The road to hell and what not.

So what i learned from this thread is that Canada is doing fairly well and it is all bad because we aren't doing well in the way some people think we should be. Is it, get a skill, get a job vs hold your hand out until the NDP gets elected? I dont see a lot of bread lines or terrible poverty in my city, i can't say that there aren't problems in the system, but then i don't pretend to have all of the answers either. There is job for almost anyone in this country who wants one, a lot of them pay well too, now you might have to accept working along side the corporate environemnt killers in Alberta, but I would say its better than waiting for the government to invent you a social justice job that should never have existed, ever.

O yes, standardized tests are wrong, because they may show that someone isn't as smart as someone esle, and we can't have that, we can't allow any sort of seperation between people because we all need to be exactly the same.
