  1. Of course its too young by any reasonable measure, unfortunately the unreasonable are in charge, which means that there are no standards no limits, because all of that is bad, morailty is a dirty word, let him or her dress whoever they please, but taking actions that could fundamentally alter someones biology before their brains have fully developed to a point where they can make a mature decision is just wrong. Earlier in the thread someone on the pro side accused somone of making a childish argument, but for some reason they think this child cant be making the same child like decision.
  2. So the evidence that the current way of doing it doesnt work comes from lower scores, well golly gee, do you think that the scores had to have been higher before to be lower now? So maybe it isnt the system, or maybe it is and maybe the old system worked better than the current one, but i know progressives like you can't imagine that change along you way of thinking might be wrong.
  3. Being mostly lazy i dont like to shave, but i did switch to a merkur safety razor a few years ago and i wont go back to disposables, just be a bit more careful, especially don't slide or transfer the razor across you face while holding it close to your skin. Its a better shave i think, the blade seems to last longer, and its cheaper. I tried good electrics but they dont cut the hair well enough and it dries out my skin too much.
  4. I agree completely with your opinion that this province is full of of idiots who will only vote liberal no matter how bad they are.
  5. It's really easy to play armchair cop, but when things get heated and lives, even your own are at risk, its pretty tough to make the right decisions, its not as though most officers see this every day, most never do, i cant imagine what it is like, and likely nor can you, they arent perfect, and maybe like those rcmp at cyvr they screwed up big time. Lets just hope that the investigation finds some believable facts that either prove the officers correct or buries them for imcompetence, its likely somehwere in between, why is it that this has to be wrong for some of you? You probably do things in your job every day that other people wouldnt understand, and likely no one's life is at stake, let them investigate/explain before we condemn.
  6. Come on, I would suggest that if you ever brandish a weapon and appear to have the intent of using it on anyone, especially a police officer, that you very quickly change your mind and drop it, because yes, not compling under those circumstances will in all likelyhood, greatly reduce your life span.
  7. Maybe that's what should have happened, but its pretty tough to guess as to why it didn't, there could be many legitimate reasons for not waiting him out, or not considering waiting him out or not believing you had time to consider waiting him out, idk, i have never been a cop, the vast majority who are rushing to judgement also dont know. But if you are in a postion of having someone move towards you while carrying a weapon with the apearent intent to use it, deadly force is justified. There are far too many questions right now to decide how or why any of it happened and if someone needs to be punished for it, police officers generally don't shoot people for the hell of it, but they also make mistakes. We will see.
  8. No way, those are reasoanable people you are talking about.
  9. Actually, they are. Read the regulations again. STORAGE OF NON-RESTRICTED FIREARMS 5. (1) An individual may store a non-restricted firearm only if (a) it is unloaded; (b) it is (i) rendered inoperable by means of a secure locking device, (ii) rendered inoperable by the removal of the bolt or bolt-carrier, or (iii) stored in a container, receptacle or room that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into; and (c) it is not readily accessible to ammunition, unless the ammunition is stored, together with or separately from the firearm, in a container or receptacle that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into. (2) Paragraph (1)(b) does not apply to any individual who stores a non-restricted firearm temporarily if the individual reasonably requires it for the control of predators or other animals in a place where it may be discharged in accordance with all applicable Acts of Parliament and of the legislature of a province, regulations made under such Acts, and municipal by-laws. (3) Paragraphs (1)(b) and (c) do not apply to an individual who stores a non-restricted firearm in a location that is in a remote wilderness area that is not subject to any visible or otherwise reasonably ascertainable use incompatible with hunting. Its right there all on its own. Rendered inpoperable in one of two ways, OR stored in a locked container, receptacle, or room. Not both, OR. A trigger lock, or removing the bolt is all that is required by law.
  10. RCMP siezed trigger locked guns. Guns legally stored. http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/sunnews/canada/archives/2013/07/20130722-083250.html
  11. Unless you think its ok to beat someone for being a racist, or for following you, you have to agree with the verdict. If Martin didn't have to wait for the police before he confronted Zimmerman, Zimmerman didn't have to wait for severe injury before he defended himself. I dont agree that he should have been following Martin, and that carrying the gun probably gives someone liscense to do that more agressively, but neither of those things warrants a beat down.
  12. No doubt you have plenty of reasons, actual evidence, for your sarcastic disbelief.
  13. Are you for real? It can take many months to do a proper investigation, i have no doubt that you know this, it's just too bad that your hatred gets in the way of your rationality, Harper is not a TSB investigator, let those that are do their jobs, there have been air accidents in the last couple of years that still remain unsolved, this might be a relatively quick, or very long process.
  14. And yet despite your bleak view of the world people are living longer and easier then ever before, that doesn't seem to jive with your thoughts of a world full of poisons in proportion to wmd's, perhpas your entire outlook is simply wrong, or incredibly over blown, nah of course not. Btw, billions on tonnes of cargo of all kinds, hazardous and otherwise, has been moved by rail in this country, and as terrible as it is this incident is extremely small in the face of that. This is likely terrible set of circumstances that lined up to produce a terrible result, this is the case in most disasters of this type, to react as though moving dangerous goods by rail is destroying the planet and killing us all is incredibly irrational.
  15. Yea, fracking thousands of feet down, thousands of feet below the water table, in pristine, totally homogeneous ground (lol) without any current cracks (lol) poses a serious danger, LOL. Do you know anything about geology or are you as usual of an opinion but without knowledge? Hey, remember in that movie when that woman could light her water on fire! Of course its completely natural, but hey, it makes for good scare mongering. Its amazing that we have drilled umpteen thousands of oil and gas wells, and thousands more looking for same, and yet bringing up all of that oil and gas, litterally through the water table, the water doesn't seem to be be all poisoned, not even to mention that fracking has been going on for decades. But now that the eco leftists have attached themselves to the issue, it is somehow evil! Shameful, but certainly no more shameful than those same people who are ever so willing to take advantage of historical wrongs perpetrated against aboriginals in and attempt to further their ideals.
  16. There are a variety of ways to legally store a firearm without having it under lock and key, if a locked home isn't safe enough why is a locked room in that home safe enough? Criinials, looters, can break down doors, why is a firearm in a locked home, in a evacuted town, a town underwater, partolled and sealed off by the rcmp a threat to society, by the same token is you gun collection not just as dangerous if you're out of town for a month? Guns are stolen from homes as it is, homes that are more accescible, and not in a flooded ghost town controlled by police, should all guns then be siezed? How much jewelery or family photos did they save in an effort to protect property, how many bottles of prescription meds did the take control of so looters couldnt sell those to actual criminals? This was about protecting property and public safety right? How many of those firearms were handled by wet hands or dropped in the water, how many of them were cleaned to prevent rust, which will happen quickly. How many of those firearms were in fact stored safely but taken anyway due to a need to 'get the guns' or a simple lack of understanding amongst the rcmp of the actual safe storage laws, which is rampant. How much compensation will home owners recieve for the tracking of water and mud into the upper dry levels of homes in an effort to remove those guns stored in locked homes, in a town underwater, patrolled and sealed off by the rcmp and the military i might add? Who among you truly believes that under these circumstances that these firearms were a true threat to society? Or is your desire to have guns controlled so strong that you see nothing wrong with seizing peoples valuable property from their locked homes, while the town is patrolled by the rcmp and the military? I presume you won't find either of that property is damaged, which is not unheard of when firearms are seized in much better circumstances, of course the rcmp have the facilities to properly store and care for hundreds of rifles, sure, and rust..meh who cares. It's just someones gun, no big loss. There is absolutely no reason to have done this, there was no substantial risk to anyone from these firearms.
  17. O look, no trend, and when you count the absolute fact that far more storms are caught with sattelite now than before the space age, those that never make landfall, you could argue that there are fewer that there were 70 years ago. This clearly supports global warming theory, because you know, every weather event does. I read recently that during grover clevelands presidency 9 times the number of hurricanes made landfall than those that have done so during Obamas presidency, so again, this clearly supports agw as does any weather anywhere that the agw theologists say does.
  18. Btw, do you think oil comes out of the ground everywhere else free of contaminants like say sand? You do realize that the "tar sands" are just petroleum mixed with sand right? it isnt some form of alien substance, it is a completely natural part of the planet, and petroleum comes in many different grades out of the ground and requires different levels of refining depending upon where it comes from. This whole effort to paint this particualr oil as somehow more evil that the others is utterly ridiculous, it takes more effort to refine, thats all, it is still just oil (petroleum). Just as there are different grades of coal.
  19. Lol have you reached that straw yet? No, tar doesn't make ashphalt, people do.
  20. Of course it was, and i have no doubt that you have mountains of evidence to support your belief.
  21. How pathetic is it that the leftists are now praising the act of an mp that felt too controlled when one of the issues he was controlled on was abortion, o and now they support his desire to know what public servants get paid, another traditionally important issue for leftists... This only proves once again that it is impossible to be a conservative without constantly being attacked by idiot leftist extremists. So the conservatives take a centrist, or even liberal approach to issues that some mp's don't like, those mp's are told to toe the party line, just like in every other government of the past, and now those leftists support that mp for leaving this intolerable situation. There are no words to describe how pathetic and self serving you are. Or is it that the left now supports sunshine lists and abortion laws?
  22. I couldnt care less how many people think this way, i have full sympathy for anyone with mental ilness, however my willingness to help, or accomodate, ends at thier uncontrolable desire to decapitate and eat someone. We can't FIX everyone, some people are simply too dangerous, too broken, to be trusted, thankfully they are a very few, but this ideology that has a need to see everyone made whole is in my opinion borne out of a defect of its own. There are billions of us on this planet, choosing to allow freedom, any freedom, to someone who uncontrollably or otherwise murders is ridiculous, just what do you feel so bad about that justifies you're need of his freedom and why do you feel that way? There are 7 something billion of us who haven't cut anyones head off, we don't need him in society, and his freedom is secondary to our safety.
  23. Clearly then the correct response is to ignore people like you and move toward an all out war against anyone who thinks like they do, since we are all the same, just as barbaric, perhaps more so, why pretend otherwise. Yes, innocent people have been killed, many of them, but us barbarians can do much worse when we really choose to defnd our awful interests, see dresden, hiroshima, etc. Of course only the western devil would stoop to such levels, but we are what we are.
  24. So hansen gets paid 1.6 million dollars from sources outside of NASA in the last 5 years of his employment, some of it coming from his efforts as an environmental activist, and now gets paid full time to do that job, but he is somehow more honorable than scientists paid by corporations, surely. He has made many outrageous statements like this one in the past, left wing eco fetishist are generally artsy types and fortunately for people like Hansen not very good at reality or math, as has been said up thread the idea that the oil sands is the end of our envoronment is utterly ludicrous, if you truly believe that you are simply too stupid for words. This is the same guy who predicted a .45 degree temperature increase over the the 10 years following 1988, he was only wrong by 400%, it rose .11 degrees, and hasnt changed at all since. But anyway this isnt about agw, which probably exists to some extent, as usual with extremists this is about ideology, and an absolute desire to see the results that thier ideoloy demands regardless of the reality, the sensibilities of eco fetishists demand acknowledgement, after all, how could they not know best. Here's another recent superbly reasonable thought from hansen, it could become so warm that lying naked in a hurricane we would still not be able to keep our bodies cool enough, our own trapped body heat will kill us, yea, that is surely a reasonable statement given the all of two thirds of a degree increase in temperature of the last 150 years. Thses sort of statements only harm the position of people who are concerned about agw, and will only detract from reasonable efforts to control it. He does seem to feel that we need more nuclear, which I completely agree with, solar and wind are not viable, not without methods of mass storage of energy, there are some possibiliites but nothing that is out there and working right now, nuclear is the best back up to solar and wind, it is always available power. This is not the case with coal or natural gas power plants, it takes some time to spool them up. But, once again nuclear is bad, the eco fetishists have said so, so we can't have any more of that, instead we have to pretend that we don't need oil, and don't need reliable electricity, in truth we don't, a small percentage of us could survive from cradle to grave and live a good life off the land for about 40 years, just like we used to. Please put your money where you mouth is and lead us to our salvation, you could start by not spreading so much bs on your computer which like almost everything in our lives is made with energy derived from, transported by burning, and made of oil. But since your doing your new god's work for your new religion i presume you will give yourself a pass.
