  1. http://www.cbc.ca/ne...ay-meeting.html last paragrappgh "Global News reported Tuesday that one of their television reporters and a photojournalist trying to visit Spence's isolated James Bay community was threatened with arrest and escorted back to the airport by the band police. Reporter Jennifer Tryon said the acting chief told her she had received a call from Spence, who wanted all the media to leave the" That seems like reasonable behavior right? The kind that people with nothing to hide would allow, so much for this free country we had, but no, they don't consider themselves above they law, they just have their own police force preventing journalists from entering the community and maybe seeing things for what they are. Im sure that in a fine upstanding place like that the police would never be of any extra benefit of having that close a relationship with the chief. My god, how can anyone support anything about this situation. As an aside the CBC should be hung out to dry for the cheer leading they were doing and even now the soft reporting they continue to do.
  2. The vast majority of native people i have spoken to think idle no more is about a complete gutting of the need for environmental impact assesments, which is patently false. They are being used in a political fight at the top of the first nation leadership and by the left wing as a weapon against the government. They have no idea what it exactly is they want.
  3. A lot of you confuse racism with reality, anywhere else with this kind of mismanagement and we would all be outraged. Her own people don't have homes, they spend for example $200,000 on gifts, or $90,000 on a zamboni, they have millions in the bank, but they can't put roofs on houses, they had huge contracts with the mine, but don't make profits. Stop being an apologist, it only enables a broken system, fear of questioning and seeing these problems for what they are is not going to help the majority of native people.
  4. I have always watched the cbc, but the cheer leading over this issue has been awful, yes they broke this story but they had little choice, they couldn't sit on something this big, what if it had been leaked to ctv fter the cbc hadn't reported it and them not reporting it became news. I find the cbc left leaning but this and the recent shootings in the US have shown their true colors, when Terry Milewski spoke to spence...my god, it was sickening, the schmaltzy act he laid on, how concerned he was for her health..she looked like she hadn't lost an ounce. Anyway that national post story about a cbc story that talks about not opening care packages is pretty pathetic, they are playing us, or some of us. But hey the protests are about mother earth, here are they keepers of the land at work. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/dailybrew/manitoba-elk-slaughter-video-prompts-questions-investigation-183034129.html Ive seen that same thing first hand, worse even, many animals indiscriminanatly shot, they are no different than any of us, we would do well to remember it. Don't worry, they would never sell any of that, it's to feed thier families...just like all of the fish being gill netted from Ontario lakes and being sold to restaurants, they are doing it for mother earth. We all know that gill nets are good for the ecosystem. It's a sham.
  5. I don't think protesting and demanding more money is a serious attempt by native groups to change the status quo, give us more isn't change, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that there is enough money in the system if it was managed properly. So if they don't want to work to help themselves beyond demanding more why should we respect any of their requests? Personal responsibility, if you refuse to take any you are a failure, if you choose to blame the past in perpetuity you are a failure, other cultures have overcome just as much and worse. Unless you want to say that you are special and therefore can't overcome, I wouldn't say that though, that would be racist. We are all the same, my ancestors suffered centuries of occupation, racism, war, and yet with no apologies, no handouts, they survived. This guilt we feel about native treatment is really preventing us from doing what is needed, for their and our benefit its time to cut the cord, it's our paternalism that is causing these problems. Treat people like children and they will always be children.
  6. Ah yes, the it's a sacred thing argument, well first of all she is far from starving, and secondly my money is sacred and I don't want you to have any more of it.
  7. Of course there are problems now, how many of them do your people take responsibility for? Becuase until you take some personal responsibility for yoursleves nothing will ever change.
  8. Go ahead, you tell us how many other cultures haven't experienced these same things, and experienced them at times when there was no sympathy, wouldnt be and never will be any apologies, or renumeration, and that is exactly the problem, we in our guilt, have treated you like children, we have allowed the victim industry to grow to a point where you simply see no way of taking care of yourself beyond demanding more pay offs. If you really wanted to help your people you would demand that the government stop treating you differently than the rest of us, you are not different, we are the same, the simple fact that your ancestors were here before ours does not make you righteous, does not make you special. Keep pushing, you may not like the push back.
  9. You know her personally? People on hunger strikes do not last months, that is the point.
  10. Yea because the electrons care about the tiny difference the gold plating would make over the feet of copper both inside the amp and the cabling, there is no difference, none. Double blind testing proves that people cannot tell between different types of cabling regardless of its type or purity, its all snake oil, if it makes you feel better and enjoy it more then good for you, but don't be fooled. Also I wonder, and I don't mean to refer to anyone here, but how many people are buying headphones worth hundreds of dollars and then listening to low bite rate mp3's with them? That is one epic failure, it's more for fashion for a lot of people you see with them.
  11. Im hoping that no one else bothered to respond to this because of how insanely stupid it is.
  12. The truth is pathetic? You must be a progressive.
  13. You really should share your evidence that these peole are "sock puppets", while you're at it let us know which con mp orchestrated robocalls.
  14. From what i heard this morning his mother had not worked at the school so his motives remain unlcear, in any case I agree with the op, we may think we are moving society in the right direction but perhaps not, or maybe we are and this sort of thing has no real answer or solution, it's a terrbily hollow possibility.
  15. If public safety is your concern there are many avenues within which you efforts could make more difference then crusading for changes that won't happen. Then again if your really just a gun hater, just because you're a gun hater, then carry on, of course it won't make your arguments any more valid or reasonable. Serously, why aren't you crusading aginst drinking? Or speeding?
  16. Well that's fairly typical, you see out here in the real world where that won't ever happen we need to consider real solutions to this problem, we also need to consider that there may not be any. There is a lot going on here, yes access to these firearms certainly makes killing a bunch of people a lot easier, but when i was a kid we had firearms on the wall, unlocked, as was the ammunition in the drawer beneath them, this was the case in most homes, yet most of us didn't shoot anyone. I would wager that more firearms were more accesible then than now, so what has changed? There are probably about a hundred different things you could point to, and maybe its impossible to change them, maybe its impossible to turn the clock back 30 years, or 50, but some of you who keep pushing for change may want to consider that those changes have consequences, and at least in my experience society has only gotten more progressive, moslty for the better I will add. But in the case of young people, how many of them now live in single parent homes, often without fathers, or parents who are never at home, or when they are spend there time working or with there heads buried in a laptop. Most of the time this doesn't matter much, but if your child has some not so good tendancies perhaps you should spend more time parenting. The same can be said for the hands off approach to parenting, where your child has to be your friend or equal, and o you must never yell or spank, or even harshly correct them, maybe those tactics make fewer mosnters overall, i doubt it though. Maybe those violent games come into play, for most kids i don't think so, for those with problems..who knows, goes back to parenting i suppose. The only way i could ever see real restrictions on firearms in the US is with a constitutional change, the odds of that happening are basically zero, the reality is that you can't get these guns back, and even if you could it isn't the guns doing the killing, so instead of pretending that is a posibility what would be your real solution? Just like the gun registry here that did nothing (pleae don't argue the numbers dont lie) there is no point in enacting feel good laws that only serve to placate the ignorant, persoanlly i don't see any solution, maybe there doesn't need to be one, but after something so horrifying, even I am questioning. If I turned in my shotgun would people stop dying? The only answer i can come up with is no.
  17. I suppose the same could be said about people who want to turn every gun incident into another grave from which to stand to ask for gun controls that accomplish nothing.
  18. No, we arent using your land, we took your land, we pretended to negotiate with you, and now we are keeping it, welcome to how the world works.
  19. I dont see any of them volunteering to go back to living the way they did before we got here, in fact most of the complaints are about not having enough of the modern conveniences that we invented and provide, but yet treaties signed under completely different circumstances from the world as we know it today should be 100% enforced? No, we should tear them up, let the 'nation' come after us for it. I wonder if their allies, like Iran, would come to their aid. If it wasn't for us you would be living the same life as your ancestors 400 years ago, choose, i would respect you a lot more, a house, or a tent, the ground or a bed, and outboard or a paddle, choose, but then accept that those modern convieniences that we all want come at a price, accepting reality is the first step. But then you already know this, it's all about money, everything else is jsut bullshit.
  20. So you celebrate this while their people have a terrible standard of living? I have read few things more stupid than what you wrote.
  21. I do enjoy it when the ideology of the far left leads to conflicts within their own ranks. Like the recent barber shop issue, whereby the same type of people who would label the right racist for not wanting to import people of very different cultures into the country, meanwhile when those vbastly different cultures behave the way they always have it suddenly becomes a human rights issue against the very same type of person who tells the rest of us that there should be no nations, no borders, were all the same after all. Here we are again where feminists and rights advocates have to defend a process that clearly singles out females, if we already had reasonable restrictions on abortion there would be no issue at all in making gender slective abortion illegal, but theres no talking to these people.
  22. The number of off topic oblique comments you make is staggering, why don't you tell us what you think about the topic, im guessing your methods are just fine according to the local rule book, personally i thnk cupw actions are disgusting, but unions while useful, are stuffed to the brim with far left nonsense.
