Your failure to understand the comparison does not make it less valid, unless of course your argument is more along the lines of any abortion legistlation is just a way of back door restrcitions on the practice, a typical, empty argument of the left. In any case, i see no reason why anyone can't be married, or any number, it is all just semantics. The government has no say on who lives in my house or who i choose to sleep with, government marriage is meanigless besides some economic benefit, it doesnt and shouldnt sanction the morality of any relationship.

gunrutz replied to WWWTT's topic in Religion & Politics
With reasonable responses like that who could argue. -
Good question.

Could you let us in on the umber of lives that have been saved by the piece of paper that says 'registered', oops, my mistake, i forgot that people with your opinion aren't serious people, you needn't try to answer. Btw, the answer is 0, but that fact won't stop your ideology from trumping whatever measure of rationality you might have, it's disgusting how reality has so little bearing on people like you.

USA Flies Through China Airspace
gunrutz replied to socialist's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
USA flies through airspace the Chinese recently decided to pretend is their's. Thats what the title of this thread should say. -
Tornadoes happen all year round, http://www1.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/cmb/images/tornado/clim/tornadoes_bymonth.png, there is no trend in the severity or frequency of tornadoes, http://www1.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/cmb/images/tornado/clim/EF1-EF5.png , http://www1.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/cmb/images/tornado/clim/EF3-EF5.png, and all of that with FAR better detection than ever, i mean, light years better detection. it isn't the 'deniers' who are anti science, anti fact, it's you.

Police and Natives protest Fracking, New Brunswick
gunrutz replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
My yard isnt big enough, but compared to fracking, which has a very small surface impact and no more subsurface than a normal well, it really isnt a fair comparison, most of the issues with a fracked well come from the well casing, and in that way it is no different than a non fracked well. More than a million wells have been fracked, most wells are now fracked, but yet even the US EPA struggles to provide any evidence of significant problems, just like for any sort of drilling sometimes problems occur, but there is no real evidence of the wdespread horific consequences so often quoted and no doubt copied from the fiction that is gasland. I did enjoy the fact that six nations joined in solidarity with the protestors in NB and protested as well when they have fracked wells on their own property, wells they wanted drilled, no that doesn't mean they can't support people who dont want it, but it has to say someting doesn't it? -
Castaway in space, the biggest question, which one of them is wilson?

From what i have heard ore being extracted from mines in northern Ontario is being shipped to Quebec for smelting because electrircity prices are significantly lower there. There is no doubt in my mind that at least some of the power rates and structure in thiis province are as a result of a green policy agenda, but even if that isnt true the rates are too high and it is hurting industry and job opportunites for people who are more concerned about paying their bills than pretending to be a leader in greening the planet.

Insurance Companies putting a GPS in your Car
gunrutz replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
So lets say you spped ocaisionally, or you accelerate quickly ocaisionally, or who knows what else, lets say then that you are involved in accident, who doesn't believe that the lawyers involed would use any information, including your tendancy to speed or you tenadancy to accelerate quickly against you? These things even track how quickly you stop, so no coming to a quick stop for a yellow for you, that might cost you, just coast through. Heavy traffic? Well you had better clog up the highway at the speed limit and try not to slow down too fast when you are cut off, o and be careful when merging, don't break that acceleration limit. So eventually everyone will need to have one of these just to protect themselves from ridiculously high rates from not having one, i mean, what about your drivning habits are you trying to hide anyway, and to protect yourself form others who have them, i mean, they must be a good driver if they have one of these boxes, what are you trying to hide? They couldnt have been at fault, what are the odds? unfortunately these trackers don't track the intelligence of the driver who has them, and quite often it isn't the speeder who is doing the dangerous thing. Then of course everyone's rates will continue to rise for 'other reasons', by then no one will bother to question those who sold us out to the insurance companies for a small break in rates, all the while those companies will be making more than ever. Seriously people, do you think they are doing this just to keep the rates low for us? If i was running those companies it's exactly what i would do, it makes complete sense. -
The Oakville Gas Plant: Are we sufficiently outraged now?
gunrutz replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I wasn't aware that the government was resposnible for people moving money offshore, and surely only conservatives do it,, and yea, it's not like we need ships or anything, but good job getting the con quip in, clearly you have no ideological skeletons in your closet. Btw, did you notcie this thread was about provincial policitcs, namely the ontario gas plant fiasco? -

How much are we too weep for Greyson and Loubani?
gunrutz replied to Boges's topic in The Rest of the World
Well, of course you think that, the sky is painted with social justice rainbows and lolipops in your world, in our country you get a few years of jail time for drug smuggling, in others you risk death, i would suggest avaoiding those countries if you are into that sort of thing, same as violent protests in Egypt, not quite the same thing as say the G20 summit in Toronto. Welcome to reality. -
How much are we too weep for Greyson and Loubani?
gunrutz replied to Boges's topic in The Rest of the World
There are a lot of countries that dont have our standard of law or justice, Egypt would be one of many examples, they took an obvious risk in a place where due process doesn't meet our standards if it exists at all, why does anyone feel concerned about them? They chose, they lost. -

I think the real argument here is with mother nature, not with the skeptics. What does she think shes doing reversing the melting trend in the arctic, or not producing more hurricanes and tornadoes, not to mention not stoking the sun a little hotter or allowing the antarctic ice cap to grow, she did give us that one phony super storm, that was a bit of a boost, but come on, still a pretty weak effort overall. It's about goddamn time someone put her in her place, we drew this road map, decided upon a future, it's her duty to follow along, give us what we want bitch. This is affecting some of our society in very negative way, while they put up an admirable fight, their denial goes against what even our scientists are saying, this shouldnt be. Some of them are falling into a depression, and while the future we all expected might not be as good as our present it really ins't fair to them that you haven't as of yet made it happen, just think of the smiles or their faces, like kids on christmas morning, when the ice caps do melt, when islands in the pacific do disappear, when that next super storm hits, won't that make it all worth it?
