  1. There has always been a small, niche sect of Conservative Christians who are against birth control and therefore IVF. However, some research shows that not enough would get behind such legislation at a federal level. I could see Louisiana or Arkansas trying this but nationally.. not quite
  2. mathematically speaking.. the EC does give certain low population marginally more influence than what their share of the total population would typically give. Marginal is the operative word. Lets use Wyoming as an example.. they are going for Trump and so will get 3 of 538. That comes to .55% of the total electoral votes. If we based this on population alone then they would account for .1% of the population (581K / 333.3 million). .55% is still pretty small and not going to win/lose the election by itself. Other states that have this dynamic are North Dakota, Idaho, Montana, and South Dakota.
  3. This thread is proof that some have too much time on their hands.
  4. There are some who oppose IVF but not enough to make an actual impact.
  5. Where is WCM to post a page long diatribe about CNN when you need it?
  6. This is one reason that I can't respect Trump... saying things like what is in the OP. Politicians lie, I know.. very intimately. Its one thing to promise to have a 1% unemployment rate and its another to fabricate gossip like above.
  7. My prediction is that Trump wins and does so because he wins Georgia and Arizona where he did not last time. Am I a trump fan.. not even close. But my approval of reality is not necessary.
  8. In the polls that I have been looking at.. Harris is ahead by the slimmest of margins. That does not mean much to myself. That could easily change next week or next month.
  9. What? No way.. Politician or a mouthpiece acts like a 12 - year old. This has never happened before.
  10. little secret... most tips are not reported. Those that are reported are done so as to act as a de facto commission This is a bit of a non story.
  11. ok, can we just fast forward to November 5. Its not like the sea of propaganda, attack ads, pamphlets, and such is going to change anyone's mind. The only purpose I know for mailers and pamphlets is that they are great firestarters.
  12. I get it. you are Christian and therefore the opening ceremony bothered you. I am atheist and a massive sports fan. If I decide to watch a sporting event.. the pregame, halftime stuff is just noise. I can separate the two out.
  13. from a ratings viewpoint, the paris olympics were a success. From a revenue viewpoint, that is to be determined but likely to either break even or be a moderate success.
  14. I would agree. Most have not read the actual text of Das Kapital and/or the Communist Manifesto.
  15. No. My primary job is to verify that very complex federal reports were constructed perfectly. Every number and every letter. I use R, SQL, and Python to read the data in, verify it against the report, and then construct a report that states where they got it right and where they did not. The feds do not accept 85% correct. And for those who think that someone "fudges" the number... that simply is not logical in the least. Too many folks with differing jobs and different locations see the data and the report. I am only the second of four links in the chain that verify that the reported total of 34,569 continued claims for the month of april 2024 is valid (just an example).
  16. unlike you, I do not watch or read political news nonstop. Early on.. I would see the press conferences held by Fauci and tune it out. I decided early on that it was not worth my time to follow the story. Only exception would be at work where I regularly had to compare employment and wage levels pre-covid vs. during covid. No, I am not embarrassed that I am not as obsessed as you. I am not going to tell you what you want to hear... simple enough?
  17. Maybe that is my problem. I can't put the BS sniffer away. My BS sniffer is cranked up on high every day. Some of it is that its my job. My primary job is to construct computer code that picks someone's work apart. They have to be perfect and so being mostly right is not good enough.
  18. This is why I have such little patience and respect for political news. Regardless of topic or which side is being talked about.. it is 99% of the time a hot steaming mess or of no value.
  19. I guess that she could legally or procedurally. I do not see it happening. He is a rather safe choice. Not the most inspiring but that's how it goes
  20. That's fine. The craft brew industry was on fire from 2000 to roughly 2019. Yes, it was hit hard by Covid but the growth in the industry hit the high point in early 2019 and by May 2020, had early seen declines in employment, totalwages, and number of establishments. This is QCEW data if you care to verify. The reason for the decline was simple... only so many middle aged, middle class white guys out there.
  21. Still waiting for this flood of propaganda. At least not in my neck of the woods anyways, There is considerably less buzz about this election than any other I have seen. Rode around the neighborhood (560 homes at last count) and not a single Trump or Harris sign.
  22. As with any story especially politics.. one has to read the full story (and usually many other sources) over a span of a few weeks in order to really get the true story.
  23. Yes, this is a lie. He knows better. However, his audience does not care if he is wrong about this. Second, is lying about something as trivial as this going to be the end of the world? No.
