Well.. the content creator knows that the audience has a very short attention span and so caters to it. They know how to provoke the audience/reader. The reader should be more discerning but are not. When I create a press release.. If I make it more than two pages, the pageviews number drops precipitously. I get heat from both sides because I like to actually read the article (and usually more than one) before I react. A lot of the time, there really is no solid, objective source. Fifteen minutes is not long enough for myself to read a short paragraph and be ready to weigh in. Side note, I do not know a lot about Trudeau but my quick synopsis is that he is the Anti-Trump. In other words, not someone who is very direct and to the point.

yes, I know. Even though this has been done for the last 30 years with little complaint from a certain someone. And actually on a percentage basis, the upward revisions during the Trump were greater than in absolute terms than the .5% decline that made this thread happen. Shhh.. don't let the secret out. also, It is somehow beneficial to Harris and Biden to have their jobs number decline. Explain that one to me.. last detail but they are a recurrent neural network model so if you change one variable in March.. it has a cascading effect for each month afterwards.

There was a study done awhile ago and it showed that beyond headlines and the very brief summary that appears before the "read more (down arrow)", very few read articles no matter the topic. I find myself sometimes going that way at times. Growing up in the 80's, the amount of information that was ready right here and now was infinitesimal compared to today.

if you want to know the true nuts and bolts of why benchmarking and revisions are done... the timing of the data does not coincide with nice neat calendar months. Unemployment insurance claims do not line up in perfect order, surveys can be untimely and inconclusive, and above all.. it is an estimate not a count. besides subtracting 818,000 jobs does not make Harris or Biden look good. How do downward revisions occur? First, UI claims appeals are finalized and if they are not in favor of the claimant.. it takes away from your jobs number (CES). Second, reports that should have been finalized on March 1 are actually not submitted until march 25 or so.. so therefore the unemployment data is incomplete. Because it is a model and therefore multiplicative (x*y).. if the y is rather large (nonfarm employment) and the x is adjusted even a bit.. the impacts we will large numerically. Simple math.

I Need to Ask Millennials--Why Are your Kids so Awful?

Every generation does this. My generation was great and the ones after it are awful. Nothing new to see here. -
Interesting how the drug user is not in control. Addiction is common. I have seen it up close and personal.. im from the trailer park. However, they willingly put the drugs in their system at some point. If you can show me where someone puts a gun to their head and shoves it down their throats.. then I will concede.

The benchmarking process takes place in january and July of every year. I could supply a mountain of data to support this. I have been the primary person behind updating the labor market information database for nevada for 8 years... It is really not all that interesting.

Wow... more personal attacks and drama. Well, I am out of patience. Have a good night.

Getting pretty worked up... hmm.. I am as calm as can be. You are the one name-calling.. "liar", "muffin". Only petulant types resort to this. its a simple matter of math.. like it or not. When the numbers looked great during Trump's time, I said the same. Besides I do not buy into conspiratorial logic or theories no matter who peddles them or the topic.

It is interesting how some pretend to be rational and then their inner conspiracy theorist comes out when the results do not line up right. The benchmark process when it comes to CES and LAUS is decades old. I could supply all sorts of data to back this up. Every February and April, we revise the past year based on new information.
-
And I thought you were reasonable and rational.. well, my bad. I know intimately how the numbers are produced.. you do not. Getting pretty worked up.. that says a lot about you.
-
Hm.... so you have no idea why revisions are done. that's what I thought. Did not expect you to be rational. My bad. Keep in mind that the benchmarking process dates back to 1940... long before the liberals that you hate existed. The revisions to the LAUS and CES data are simple math. They are estimates and so new information changes the estimates.

Republicans have given up on healthcare
impartialobserver replied to Matthew's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Well.. its quite the complex issue. Give someone $1000 free and clear and they most likely spend it on consumption goods such as food, stuff for their vehicle, records, toys for their kids, etc. and not health care unless they have to. -
Do you know why we revise a data set? Please, no conspiratorial garbage.

fentanyl... Is legal but folks when they acquire it legally know how potent it is. When they get it from the black market.. they are still in control. They had to seek it out, pay for it, and then ingest it. When it is mixed with other illicit drugs, they are still in control. They can ingest the drugs regardless of its composition. I come from the trailer park.. seen far more drug use than you have.
-
more obfuscation. Where do I say that we should tolerate it? You are delusional to think that this is new and isolated to fentanyl. I spent 27 years in the poor part of town.. what you are whining about is old news and predates fentanyl. I will give you kudos for entertainment value. It is thoroughly hilarious to pretend that the only reason that you oppose immigration is because some of them bring fentanyl with them. interesting you never address the demand side of it.. But that would demand accountability. We have to blame it on them da_n spics.
