  1. The law is pretty clear no matter the state. Vigilante justice even if righteous is not condoned. To avoid prosecution, he calls the police. Yes, I know that the police come in after the crime is committed and you have to have a complaining witness which in the case of rapes is not always easy. To come forth after a rape is not nearly as easy as know-it-alls make it seem.
  2. To criminally prosecute someone, you need more than hearsay. It is possible that Gaetz did these things and spoke of it but that there are no breadcrumbs tying him to it. I do not know. When we refer someone to the State AG for UI fraud, we use more than witnesses.
  3. In the pantheon of sports, no franchise has demonstrated ineptitude like the Detroit Lions. Decade after decade of never being a true Super Bowl contender. Great players but never a complete team. Just this one year, I am rooting for Detroit to make it to a Super Bowl. Next year.. be whatever it may be.
  4. and you think that Trump can mandate that the laws are fully enforced in every instance across all cities/towns/areas? Yes, there will be press releases saying "we will not put up with this" and that will satiate you. That's fine. There will be a relatively few instances where the law is more strictly applied but the key word is "few". Largely, what we will see is Trump reacting after the fact and condemning it.
  5. Well, all we can do is "estimate" because it is not exactly we have a public registry where folks are mandated to enter their information and check a box for "woke". The more liberal minded folks are going to be "woke" by your definition and without abolishing the first amendment, you can't legislate them away.
  6. and furthermore.. Trump and his crew do not and can not control every outlet for this. They will have to pick and choose their battles and be ok with it existing in some way.
  7. My guess is that they thought that having Biden run in 2024 was the only way to possibly prevent Trump from winning. I am not so sure that he would have done better than Kamala Harris.
  8. Welcome to the modern world. The world of know-it-alls and overreactions. Trump's verbal diarrhea does get old.
  9. Sorry but can't happen. If you have the first amendment, you are going to have a sect of society that believes and expresses woke ideas.
  10. Its been a week or so and so now we have a clearer picture of the shooter, Natalie Rupnow, and the context behind it. So first, she is not gay or trans. By all indications not liberal. She was was very dissatisfied with life in general. Tumultuous family life probably played more into this than politics. Her affinity for Eric Harris (columbine shooter) and Neo-Nazism seems more a manifestation of her deep unhappiness than anything political beliefs. Politics is how you think society should behave or exist.. she was clearly not concerned about society in general.
  11. So you had full control over being born white? That's too funny. Thanks for the laugh.
  12. I guess if it does actually happen then going to see some interesting times. I have some doubts as to whether this is legit or not.
  13. It is like decision tree. Make decision y and you go to the right and up. At the first fork is repeal the 2nd Amendment or not. There is a 0% chance of that happening so lets take choice B (not repeal) and then start from there. How to curtail these incidents without banning private gun ownership. You have to be a special kind of stupid to think that the 2nd Amendment will go away anytime soon. Finally, if someone is going to be violent they will find a way ( I know that you know this.. but for the audience). Knife, large object, vehicle, chemicals, etc... all inflict pain, suffering, or death on the victim. Can't ban all of these items.
  14. I find that in these shootings.. folks make it political first and then lets worry about actual details (who, what, when, why). I would think that we would care about the victims and try to think about having this not happen again. Playing the blame game does not actually solve anything. On the surface, it would seem that gun control would work. I found myself buying into it early on (early 2000's). But all of the assumptions behind it are... ahem BS. Could go on for pages after pages and put everybody to sleep (hmm.. devious plan could work) but the one that really stands out is the idea that criminals know the gun laws. Pardon me while I laugh at that one.
  15. "Social media accounts believed to be Rupnow’s show signs of a growing interest toward neo-Nazi violence and engagement in forums glorifying mass shooters. Minutes before the shooting, Rupnow posted a photo of a hand making an “OK” sign — sometimes used to signal white power." As I said, there is limited info but this does not point to someone who is leftist. https://kstp.com/kstp-news/top-news/madison-police-to-give-update-on-wisconsin-school-shooting-that-killed-2-wounded-6/
  16. Valid.. I guess we shall see what comes out in trial.
  17. Can you prove this assertion of "leftard"? Actually the limited info there is about her points to her having an affinity for Neo-Nazism.. that is not liberal in the least.
  18. There is a probably a way to get the actual person by person data behind a poll. Just like there is a way to get the survey results that underlie the unemployment rate.. It is quite onerous though
  19. Making it political is another way of jumping the gun. Making it political in the absence of verifiable information shows a lack of honesty and critical thinking. I have been saying the same thing for over a decade when it comes to mental health and recognizing someone in distress. Gun control.. simply does not make sense. It is not because I am liberal or conservative. Think of any issue in the human world. If you let something progress along a timeline and then try to stop it at the proverbial 1 yard line, of course it is not going to work.
  20. I would need to see the micro data behind the poll in order to come to a conclusion
  21. You missed the point by a country mile... I have no patience for this today.
  22. If I was to be objective and pick based on that criteria.. my SB picks would be Philadelphia and Buffalo. I really, really want DET to win but the injuries to Anzalone, Montgomery, and Hutchinson are going to leave them exposed later.
  23. The business model has changed. Just think to 1985 (yes I am old too). If there was an event and you did not have cable news, you had one of 3 local network options or the newspaper tomorrow. Now, there are thousands upon thousands of internet outlets. No need to have a cable subscription or to get a newspaper (and therefore have to wait). Quick and easy to digest on demand.
  24. Cable news is dying. We still get our news but simply not by way of having cable and watching it directly.
  25. real life is such a bit__. In a fantasy, you could easily find and deport 10 million. They are not as easy to pinpoint as the delusional types on here would pretend it to be. There are legal considerations and above all.. there has been a shortage of applicants for the Border Patrol and other law enforcement. That is not going to change overnight.
