  1. Crowd turnout was actually pretty good where I usually go. Mind you it's a pretty nice day today and more like plus 10 which helps
  2. Complete nonsense. It sounds like you expect an opposition party to sit there and clap for the government. Calling someone adversarial in a Westminster parliamentary system suggests that you have no idea how the system works. It is confrontational and adversarial! You don't sit there and suck up to the other side and say how great they are, you call them out for the things that they're not doing well. Trudeau literally called ministers when harper was in power pieces of shit. The whole angry man thing is a complete manufactured falsehood narrative that people push trying desperately to discredit him rather than address the issues he raises. As if there would ever be a conservative leader that you would point to and say oh how wonderful. No matter what a conservative reader does you're going to point at them and say this is why they're the most terrible thing in the entire universe because that's what you do. But here's the thing, despite everything you still got 41% of the vote. And if he had presented a slightly better argument as to why he's better or carney had had any track record to run against he would have won. Carney's approval ratings are slipping every month and the CPC is already pulling ahead of the liberals again. And it hasn't even been a year. The conservatives are not the one with the problem right now
  3. There is a huge amount of land between charming and good looking small and homely Harper was never charming, in fact I remember when he first went into the house after being elected and the opposition accused him of seducing the voters and he said essentially "That's absolutely ridiculous, my wife is in the gallery today and can confirm that I've never been able to seduce anyone in my entire life" The problem is good leaders have a tough time being elected, and charming and good looking leaders have a tough time governing once elected. Trudeau was always very charming but he was a complete disaster as a leader. Carney was very charming but isn't doing that great so far either. The first Trudeau was very charming but was a disaster for Canada. There have been leaders that were fairly charming and also good at their job. But they are relatively rare. You're always better off as a rule with a leader you may not be that charming but is a solid performer
  4. Then what was the problem with harper? You say he was a loser But he won three elections
  5. Sorry should have been Chretien. My spell checker doesn't really like that name That really should have been obvious but I forgot how dumb you are.. I was just checking to see if you were hypocrite. You claim that harper is a failure because he lost an election or was thrown out of power. Chretien was thrown out by his party, Martin lost an election justin was thrown out.... they were all losers according to your measure. So that'd be 'yes' to you being a hypocrite No surprise, just pointing it out to others But harper got elected. Three times. And he claims harper's a failure because he lost his last election But you call harper a failure and he was prime minister. Got you again kiddo LOLOLOL
  6. Title says it all. For those who gave up their lives in the past, for those who suffered incredible hardship and lived with fear and violence wondering if they would ever see their loved ones again in order to ensure that we had a chance to build a life that we believed in I could be proud of. my most heartfelt thanks for your sacrifice. And for those who served and stood ready to give up their lives for the same reasons, and those who will as they answer the call in the future, thank you for your commitment. Least we forget. In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
  7. Well, It's hard to think poorly of someone for their passions
  8. You vote liberal. You're not making a particularly compelling argument considering you want to win the next election and therefore if what you're saying is true would want Poilievre to stay So you're saying Gretchen was a failed leader? And Paul Martinmust have been a fair later too then? Justin is definitely a failed leader by your measure It sounds to me like the liberals have been failing every bit as much!
  9. And it's tradition to put a deposit down if you're going to order one. And it is very common for procurements to be in the budget if they're anticipated in the next year or two even if they don't get bought in the next year. The money is set aside Can you think of a time when that hasn't happened? I don't remember time when a military procurement of any size wasn't in the budget before the year the check was due. It's not like they're going to build them for us and hope we pay them everything at the end, there will be an upfront and then regular payments to be made as progress is completed. So it would seem that they have no intention of even considering making a decision in the next year or two.
  10. 454 posts is your top number of posts? Sounds like a really popular winning place Black dog used to come here quite a bit. But this place tends to filter out the mental rechecks. I see they found a home at your place.
  11. It didn't even show up in the budget. It would appear that we're a long way away from actually buying any submarines. I imagine he'll comment when there's something to comment on but right now it's a whole lot of nothing
  12. awww.... well there's my mental image of you two shattered.
  13. Holy smokes, go and change your diapers boy! Wasn't my intent to make you crap yourself and emotionally break down like that. We get it, you have these meltdowns when people point out you're failing. But there's really no need. Someday you're giong to be an adult and you're going to have to face emotional challenges in the workplace and at home etc, you need to learn out to cope better. There isn't always going to be someone handy to change your pampers.
  14. Does he? We've been talking about it and that is a purchase that would make a lot of sense but there was no money for submarines in this budget. Apparently we've been shopping for them but here we go with nothing
  15. So basically they think that if they honk him off, @Nationalist just calls out BY THE POWERES OF INTERWEB and turns in to HE-NAT and smites their forum? This guy sounds pretty stable.
  16. If it's about the budget he has to cross the floor, you shot yourself in the foot with that comment. There's no entry here that isn't easily explained by what we've seen and what he said. He wanted to be in government. He does not want to be in opposition . He either doesn't believe there will be an election in the near future or he doesn't believe that Poilievre can win it if there is. So he's not going to be in government if he sticks around. He considered going over to the liberals, he met with him and talked with them. But in the end decided they weren't a good fit and decided to step down and go do something else instead. Obviously along the way the CPC realized he was thinking of leaving and knew he'd met with the PM and called him to the mat and said "what's up'. What else do you think happened? Kidnapped his kids? Snipter on the roof in case he tried to cross? What more do you think the story needs? And no, what you said did not happen last week. Sometimes you just don't fundamentally understand what you're talking about. In fact the exact Opposite of what you said happened. You said the block would vote against the conservative amendments and the conservatives would vote against the block amendments but that's not what happened. And that was only second reading, those are the readings that are necessary to get to the final vote to pass or fail the budget. Obviously you don't understand how first second and third reading works. We only just hit the stage where amendments will be proposed by the various parties It's hilarious that not only did you incorrectly point out something that you thought proved I was wrong, but also pointed out the thing that proves I'm right. You need to learn to read more.
  17. LOL Well, It's all about the balance of probabilities, so there's always that element of luck. Nobody knows for sure. Which absolutely won't stop me from claiming that I'm a genius who understands the universe on a fundamental level better than everybody else and that you should bow before me if it turns out I'm right
  18. Well there's a big difference, she wanted to leave the Verona court so listen so this was kind of a surprise to the conservatives as well and the more recent case was carney directly soliciting people so it's not like they had to think about it. Also that floor crossing in 2018 didn't really do much to change things so they had to weight the pros and cons and is this someone that's really a good fit? The more recent one is a lot more significant so they don't care if this guy is satan, they still want him.
  19. He never said the budget wouldn't pass. And once again you have to create something that somebody didn't say in order to try and win an argument because you can't against what they really say You know you're a loser. That's why you keep having to assist people around you are crying when they point out you're losing I accept your admission of defeat You see? You can't even help yourself.
  20. We can always tell when you're in emotional distress because you start screwing up your English like that. He must really be getting to you I accept your admission of defeat
  21. He didn't lose the first time. You were wrong, the budget has not been voted on. First reading has been voted on and second reading has been voted on but not the actual budget itself, there is a vote remaining You didn't actually know how the system worked did you You didn't realize there were three votes in order to actually pass something did you 😂😂😂😂😂😂 @Legato May have made you look stupid, but you're the one that made you look like a twat all by yourself
  22. Oh forgot to mention. i have never said that the liberals would have to hold an election after the budget. At all. I mean, technically they will, its just a matter of time, but either way i never said it Arguing with something i never said sure makes you look sane and rational doesn't it ';) LOL Wahhh!! I can't argue with what you said so i'll make up something you didn't say and argue with that!! Waaaaahh!
  23. I accept your admission of defeat LOL well that was certainly mature Oh, i'm writhing in the grip of your unassailable logic I can always tell when you're getting frustrated, don't get mad at me just because you're feeling a little stupid
  24. This is largely true. However, there is the fact that America has been making a significant effort to move to renewables such as solar, and the problem is that because those aren't 'always on' technologies you tend to design everything around 'peak' demands and such. But a lot of the industrialization, such as the big AI farms, don't have 'Peak' hours per se, they're hungry 24/7. The current system may well be able to provide more than it needs at one point but not enough at another point. It will require adaptation and rethinking.
  25. Dude that's nonsense. Alberta's energy grid has been absolutely rock solid until they tried to introduce a bunch of solar for environmental reasons. Texas has always been solid too but climate change and such they had a winter that was far colder than anything they've experienced the grid wasn't ready for it. That had more to do with pipes freezing so to speak then it did with lack of supply And no, the united states does not have the worst electrical grid or even remotely close. It's actually got a pretty incredible electrical grid considering their size, the strain on their electrical grid comes from the fact that they are Creasing their need at insane speeds due to their massive success as a industrial Powerhouse as well as their growth in population. And the states that have the most trouble are states like California that tried to go all solar Doug ford is done nothing to increase ontario's new killer power as of this moment. And the lefties are the ones who kill nuclear power so if you're going to tell that as an example of good Environmental Policy then once again the left fails. And considering that Ontario's first nuclear power was brought in by Leslie Frost, a conservative, if Doug Ford actually does get some nuclear stuff built then it will have been 100% conservatives who did it The problem the US has right now is that they are trying to integrate a lot of renewable energy that unfortunately they have no way yet of effectively storing. So they often don't have energy when they really need energy even though overall they're capable of producing more energy than they need on average When the day rolls around that we develop energy storage that's as efficient and useful as a gas can, and I do believe we will, then these Renewables can take a front line position and replace other emitting forms of energy but we are not there
